Chapter 198 Urgent Mission

The night before his wedding, Li Wei sat in his apartment, a pile of documents and materials spread out before him. A former police officer, he'd left the force but still occasionally received urgent missions. Tonight, he received one such mission.

The ringing of the phone sounded particularly harsh in the middle of the night. Li Wei picked up the phone and heard the other party's urgent voice: "Li Wei, we have a problem here, we need you to come over immediately."

Li Wei immediately became alert: "What's going on?"

"An important witness suddenly disappeared, and we need your help in finding clues." the other party said.

Li Wei didn't hesitate and immediately agreed: "Okay, I'll be right there."

He quickly put on his coat, grabbed his car keys, and rushed out of the house. In the night, the city lights flickered as Li Wei drove through the streets with only one thought in mind—to find the witness as soon as possible and ensure the wedding could go smoothly.

Arriving at the police station's makeshift command center, Li Wei immediately got to work. He and his colleagues analyzed clues and reviewed surveillance footage, attempting to locate the witness. As the seconds ticked by, Li Wei's brow furrowed ever more deeply. He knew time was running out; if he couldn't find the witness quickly, the entire investigation would be at a standstill.

"Li Wei, look here!" a colleague suddenly shouted, pointing at a figure on the surveillance screen.

Li Wei leaned over and observed carefully. On the screen, a blurry figure flashed by at the corner of the street. Although the image was not clear, Li Wei, with his years of police experience, immediately determined that this figure was likely the witness they were looking for.

"Quick, follow this figure!" Li Wei gave the order decisively.

Colleagues sprang into action, using technology to track the figure's movements. Li Wei stared intently at the screen, his heart filled with anxiety and anticipation. Finally, in a secluded alley, they found the witness. He looked a little panicked, but upon seeing Li Wei and the others, he visibly relaxed.

"You finally found me," the witness said, his voice trembling slightly.

Li Wei stepped forward and comforted her, "Don't worry, you are safe now. We will protect you."

After safely returning the witness to the police station, Li Wei checked the time. It was already past three in the morning. He sat exhausted in the car, his heart restless. Tomorrow was his wedding with Lin Yue, and he wished he could be with her right now instead of dealing with these urgent matters.

"Li Wei, the mission is completed, you can go back and rest." A colleague came over and patted him on the shoulder.

Li Wei nodded and started the car. In the darkness, he drove home alone, his heart filled with longing for Lin Yue and anticipation for the future. He knew that although work sometimes kept him busy, his love for Lin Yue would never change.

Back home, Li Wei took a hot bath, changed into clean clothes, and lay down on the bed. Although his body was exhausted, his heart was filled with warmth. He knew he had a beautiful and kind fiancée waiting for him, and a bright future waiting for him.

"Lin Yue, when I come back tomorrow, I will give you a perfect wedding." Li Wei said silently in his heart, and then gradually fell asleep.

Inside the banquet hall, music began, signaling the official start of the wedding. Lin Yue, accompanied by her father, slowly walked to the other end of the red carpet. A happy smile graced her face, a determined glint in her eyes. Guests rose to their feet, applauding and blessing her.

Just then, a familiar figure suddenly appeared at the door. Li Wei, wearing a neatly tailored suit and with a tired yet resolute expression on his face, walked quickly towards Lin Yue. His eyes were filled with apology and love as he watched Lin Yue slowly approach him.

"Yueyue, I'm here." Li Wei's voice sounded in Lin Yue's ears, full of affection.

Lin Yue turned around and saw Li Wei standing in front of her. A hint of surprise and emotion flashed in her eyes. She walked quickly towards Li Wei and hugged him tightly.

"You're here, I knew you would come." Lin Yue's voice was choked with sobs, and tears of happiness flashed in her eyes.

Li Wei hugged Lin Yue tightly and said softly, "Yueyue, I'm sorry, I made you worry. But I will definitely keep our promise and stay by your side forever."

The two hugged each other tightly, and applause and cheers rang out all around them. The wedding continued, and they slowly walked towards the marriage hall with everyone's blessings.

The atmosphere at the wedding had reached its climax. The newlyweds had just finished their vows, and the entire banquet hall was filled with warmth and emotion. Lin Yue and Li Wei stood hand in hand at the center of the stage, accepting the guests' blessings. Just then, a mysterious figure appeared at the doorway. He was wearing a dark suit and black sunglasses, making him particularly striking.

This mysterious guest slowly walked into the banquet hall, and his appearance immediately attracted the attention of the guests present. Zhang Wanqing and Fu Siyuan also noticed this uninvited guest. They looked at each other, and a hint of curiosity surged in their hearts.

"Siyuan, look at that man, he looks so mysterious." Zhang Wanqing whispered with a hint of excitement in her tone.

Fu Siyuan nodded: "Indeed, why do I feel that he looks a little familiar?"

The mysterious guest walked straight to the stage, and Li Wei and Lin Yue also noticed him. Li Wei showed a hint of surprise on his face, while Lin Yue looked a little confused.

"Li Wei, who is that person?" Lin Yue asked in a low voice, with a hint of uneasiness in his eyes.

Li Wei smiled slightly and walked forward to greet the mysterious guest: "Old friend, long time no see."

The mysterious guest took off his sunglasses, revealing a familiar yet unfamiliar face. With a hint of nostalgia in his eyes, he looked at Li Wei and Lin Yue and smiled faintly, "Congratulations, you've finally achieved your goal."

Lin Yue looked at this mysterious guest, and a sense of familiarity welled up in her heart. She frowned, trying hard to recall this person's identity.

"You are..." Lin Yue hesitated for a moment, then suddenly her eyes lit up, "You are Li Wei's college classmate, Chen Hao!"

Chen Hao nodded, a pleased smile on his face: "Yes, I am Chen Hao. Li Wei, you finally married such a good girl."

Li Wei smiled and patted Chen Hao on the shoulder: "Yes, I am really lucky. Yueyue, Chen Hao was my college roommate. We were inseparable brothers back then."

Lin Yue smiled friendly after hearing this: "Chen Hao, I didn't expect you to come. Welcome, you are our guest today."

Chen Hao nodded, looked around, and said with emotion: "This place is so beautifully decorated, your wedding is so perfect."

Just then, the band began playing a familiar melody, and Chen Hao suddenly said, "Li Wei, do you remember our favorite song from college?"

Li Wei nodded, a nostalgic look on his face: "Of course I remember, that's our memory."
