My Mr. Monster

Chapter 48 Signal

On an exceptionally refreshing morning, Wu Yang went to bed early and woke up early. This place seemed to change his daily routine, and he would feel inexplicably sleepy after nine o'clock.

When he woke up, he subconsciously grabbed around him but found nothing. He grabbed again and again but still nothing.

The dazed Wu Yang suddenly woke up, and looking at the empty bed beside him, he was suddenly full of questions.

Where's the person? Could such a big one be gone?

He opened his tablet to check the time. It was just past six o'clock and the sky in the countryside was just getting light. Lu Xuan was gone?

What a joke... Wu Yang stood up, opened the door and walked towards the bathroom. It was pitch black and he knew there was no one there without turning on the light.

Realizing that something was wrong, Wu Yang quickly got dressed and went downstairs. As soon as he got downstairs, he saw Lu Xuan's grandmother starting to prepare breakfast.

"Grandma, did Lu Xuan go downstairs? He doesn't seem to be upstairs." Wu Yang asked uncertainly.

"Xuanxuan, he said he wanted to go for a run. Why is he running so early in the morning?" Grandma Lu Xuan said in confusion.

"Running? Which way did he run?"

"He's just running along the road. He hasn't been going for long. Xiaoyang, if you want to chase him, you should be able to catch up with him."

"Thank you, grandma. I'll go for a run too." Wu Yang felt inexplicably relieved when he knew where the person had gone.

"Remember to come back quickly for breakfast." Grandma Lu Xuan said and walked towards the kitchen.

Wu Yang put on his new shoes and went out quickly. Looking at the faint light rising in the sky and a vague figure not far away, the corners of Wu Yang's mouth rose slightly. It was not far and he could catch up.

Thinking of this, he immediately opened fire at full force, and suddenly he was like a wild horse that had broken free from its reins, and in the blink of an eye he appeared five or six meters away.

Jogging versus running, Wu Yang caught up with Lu Xuan almost effortlessly. Lu Xuan looked at Wu Yang in shock and confusion.

"No... why did you follow me? Don't you like to sleep in?" Lu Xuan felt that Wu Yang, who was running with him, was a ghost.

"You disappeared when I woke up. I only found out you ran away after asking your grandma." Wu Yang said dissatisfiedly, "Why are you running if you're not sleeping?"

"Exercise. I haven't been exercising because I've been worried every day. I used to run, but I stopped after I met you." Lu Xuan seemed to be complaining, but Wu Yang didn't listen.

"How far are you going to run?"

"Run around this place."

"It's such a big circle. Your grandma told us to go back and eat quickly."

"There's enough time, and grandma won't scold me if I go back late." Lu Xuan said confidently, with a hint of arrogance.

"In that case, I have nothing to say." Wu Yang slowed down and reached Lu Xuan's pace. "I was wondering how you could be so fair-skinned and in such good shape. It turns out you work really hard. It's amazing that you choose to exercise when the sun isn't shining."

"It's absolutely necessary. In order to better find the one who belongs to me, I have to be self-disciplined." Lu Xuan said, "The competition is fierce now, and everyone is like a peacock spreading its feathers."

"With such a pretty face of yours, are you worried about not being able to find a partner?" Wu Yang thought it was ridiculous. How could no one like his face, which he himself thought was pretty?

"You don't understand. Appearance is secondary. Real kung fu is the main thing to conquer others." Lu Xuan said seriously, "This is a matter of dignity and must be taken seriously. Only perseverance can achieve perseverance."

Wu Yang was silent. He didn't know why, but he couldn't understand Lu Xuan's nonsense at all. He wanted to push Lu Xuan to the ground and ask: Can't you speak human language?

Wu Yang didn't understand a single word of Lu Xuan's dirty talk. Instead, he felt that Lu Xuan was a little bit crazy.

During the remaining time, Lu Xuan was busy training himself and checking the arrival time of the goods, while Wu Yang was traveling around, embodying the word "leisure" to the fullest.

Until the time was reset to zero again, the two of them traveled through time again with a large amount of supplies that they had secretly transported upstairs.

There was a moment of trance and then the scorching summer suddenly turned into the bitter winter. The moment Lu Xuan appeared, he shivered with cold.

"It's really magical. Do you know the principle of time travel?" Wu Yang asked.

"If I knew I wouldn't be here," Lu Xuan said unhappily, loosening his grip on the pile of luggage, causing all sorts of stuff to fall to the ground.

"Let's go check if the time has changed after we finish packing." Lu Xuan suggested.

"Then I'll go downstairs and take a look." Wu Yang said as he opened the door and ran away, leaving Lu Xuan in a mess among the pile of luggage.

Lu Xuan looked at the messy room silently. He couldn't help but frown and walked to the window to look at the gradually darkening sky. The biting cold wind kept blowing across his cheeks, which was really chilling.

Suddenly his expression changed slightly, and the smell in the wind was... a little strange.

There seemed to be a faint smell of burning... like the smell when I burned ants with a lighter when I was a child, but much fainter.

"Who burned something?" Lu Xuan squinted his eyes and looked into the distance. He seemed to see a wisp of inconspicuous black smoke, but it was too far away to see clearly where it came from.

Wu Yang returned soon. As soon as he opened the door, he said, "Good news! Time in this world has indeed stopped."

Lu Xuan was puzzled. "Is there any more bad news?"

"Yes, I smelled a strong smell of burnt corpse. I didn't notice it at first until the wind blew on my face," said Wu Yang.

Lu Xuan was silent for a while, feeling a little uneasy. He asked anxiously, "What corpse?"

"It's a charred human body. Someone is burning the body." Wu Yang's tone became a little more serious.

"Then why burn the body?" Lu Xuan was puzzled. If Wu Yang was simply cremated, how could it be considered bad news?

"It's a warning." Wu Yang walked to the window and looked at the last glimmer of light in the sky. "Someone is coming here to plunder. Burning corpses means that many people have died."

"They killed people?"

"Yes, it's normal. This kind of thing happens every time there is a food shortage in this season." Wu Yang seemed to be accustomed to it. His face did not show the uneasiness that Lu Xuan had. On the contrary, he had no emotional fluctuations at all.

"What should we do next? What about Han Song and the others?" Lu Xuan frowned. He was so unlucky to have encountered such trouble just after returning.

"Either you choose to leave, or stay here and wait for them to come and kill them all." Wu Yang gave a simple and rough answer.

"Is there anything I can do?"

"No need, but I can let you get some blood on your hands if you want." Wu Yang looked at Lu Xuan's hands, "You are too clean here, you need to get used to it."

"No... I don't want to kill anyone unless it's necessary. I can't get over it psychologically." Lu Xuan shook his head. "I can watch them die indifferently, but I can't kill them right in front of me."

When Wu Yang was about to say something, Han Song came up smartly. He stood at the door and hesitated because Wu Yang was inside.

"Han Song, is there anything I can say? Come in and talk." Lu Xuan said.

"I just want to discuss this with you and Wu Yang. I want to know if you want to leave here temporarily." Han Song walked around the mess on the ground and walked over to the two of them. "It might be uneasy recently. There might be more of those knife-wielding thugs from before. We can't leave, but you can."

"What do you think?" Lu Xuan looked at Han Song. As the leader of a group of people, Han Song should have his own ideas.

"My thoughts are nothing special. I just want to minimize the losses and casualties. As for the other things, we don't need to think about them for now."

"Then let's stay together. I think Wu Yang doesn't plan to leave either."

Lu Xuan found his backpack and took out the special slingshot he bought online and cans of solid steel balls.

"Although I can't kill people, I can interfere a little bit." Lu Xuan said confidently, "I'm very accurate with the slingshot. This one has a special feature, so the damage will be even higher. And if I use a solid steel ball, it should be able to hurt people."

Wu Yang opened the can, picked up a steel ball, and weighed it. "This thing won't hurt," he said. "It might even make a hole in your head..."

Lu Xuan snatched the steel ball from Wu Yang's hand and began to stretch the rubber band directly towards the window. Due to limited vision, he could only aim at the dilapidated road. The moment Lu Xuan let go, the rubber band rebounded with an almost "painful" sound. A dull sound came from below, but no steel ball was seen.

Wu Yang looked out the window at the spot where Lu Xuan had just shot with his slingshot. They couldn't see clearly, but Wu Yang could see clearly: the steel ball had embedded itself directly into the spot...

If you get hit like this, won’t your body be covered in bruises and your bones be broken?
