Love and choices across time and space

Father Lin sat in his spacious and stately study. His carved mahogany desk exuded the scent of time, and the bookcase behind him was filled with precious books and documents. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the thick curtains, dappling his stern face. His brows were furrowed like two deep furrows, and his eyes revealed worry and determination.

Then, Lao Zhang found a former colleague of Li Yifeng, a young man wearing thick glasses.

A few days passed, and Lao Zhang organized the information he had collected and came to Lin's father's office.

Back home, Lin Wan'er locked herself in her room and burst into tears. Her father and mother paced anxiously outside the door, their hearts ache.

"Wan'er, open the door, don't lock yourself in." Lin's mother called softly.

"Let her be alone for a while." Father Lin said helplessly.

In the following days, Lin Wan'er was like a puppet that had lost its soul. She refused to eat or drink all day and lay in bed crying silently.

Father Lin felt very distressed when he saw his daughter looking so haggard.
