Ultra: Dragon Sword Journey
Chapter 391 Dead Pilot No. 2 - Asuka Shin
Inside the command room of the Yatsugatake Super Victory Team on Earth, the atmosphere was so solemn it seemed to crush anyone. The lights dimmed, as if night had fallen, and the faint flicker of the instruments resembled stars in the night sky, casting mottled shadows on the walls.
When Captain Kibi Tsunesuke returned to the base, his face was covered with dark clouds, his eyes were wide open, like a volcano about to erupt, and he was furious at Asuka Shin.
"Asuka! What's wrong with you? You've only fought twice, and both times you crashed!" Kihiko Tsunade's voice was like thunder, exploding in the small command room, shaking the surrounding team members slightly.
The first time, it could be considered his first time flying a new aircraft, and he'd gotten shot down without authorization. He could still plead inexperience and rebuild it, but the second time, the entire Alpha plummeted from the atmosphere into the sea like a kite with a broken string, soaked beyond recognition by the saltwater. Now, there was no need to repair it; it could just be scrapped and rebuilt! And next time, and next time, and next time...
With Asuka Shin's crash rate continuing to rise, the Super Victory Team's funding would probably not be enough for him to squander even if they had mountains of gold and silver. Could it be that he would become a doomed pilot with a 100% crash rate?
Feiniao Xin lowered his head, his face full of guilt and unwillingness, just like an eggplant hit by frost.
"Captain, I... I didn't want this to happen either. I was just too careless! I promise that this situation will never happen again!" Asuka Xin raised his head, his eyes as firm as a rock, and there was a raging fire in his eyes that was unwilling to fail.
Kibi Gosuke took a deep breath, as if relieved, and tried to calm his emotions. He stared into Asuka Shin's eyes and said seriously, "I hope you will keep your word. Every battle is related to the life and death of the Earth, and there is no room for negligence."
We are the Super Victory Team, shouldering the sacred mission of protecting the Earth and humanity. We must not allow such a high-level mistake to put people in irretrievable danger!"
Fei Niaoxin nodded vigorously and secretly swore in his heart that he would make the captain treat him differently next time and never let down his teammates' trust.
"This idiot, I hope he can really learn his lesson next time!" In the command room, everyone sighed as they looked at Asuka Shin's confident look, knowing that the guy's desire to show off had not been curbed at all.
Late that night, darkness enveloped the earth like a vast curtain. Suddenly, a green meteorite, like a blazing fireball, streaked through the silent night sky and plummeted from distant space to land in Earth's mountainous region.
A dull, subtle explosion accompanied the ground's slight tremor. The meteorite struck, sending up a cloud of dust. Amidst the rising dust, a strange green glow emanated from within the meteorite, flickering like a ghost, adding a touch of mystery and terror to the otherwise quiet night.
The green light seemed alive, pulsing and spreading, as if it were about to break free from the meteorite's restraints. The surrounding trees, illuminated by this light, cast strange shadows, like a group of ferocious monsters.
The light grew stronger and stronger, and faintly, it seemed that there were some kind of life forms inside the meteorite. They seemed to have been awakened from their slumber by the violent impact and were about to move.
As time passed, the light gradually stabilized, but the sense of mystery grew stronger. The chirping of insects in the surroundings suddenly stopped after this unusual event, as if nature itself was in awe of this unknown existence.
The next morning, as the sun streamed down on TPC's field training base, the Super Victory Team was feverishly preparing for a unique shooting test. The entire training ground was filled with a tense yet exciting atmosphere.
The rules are straightforward, reminiscent of a popular Counter-Strike game—players must wield their Brest pistols and accurately target randomly appearing monster and hostage cards within abandoned buildings and dilapidated houses. Each successful hit on a monster card earns one point, while a missed hit on a hostage card results in a full three points deduction.
Zhao Ming had risen early and followed the team all the way to the training base in the wilderness. He stared wide-eyed at the scene before him, which looked like it had been ripped straight from a Counter-Strike game. He asked suspiciously, "Who came up with this training method?"
Liang, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but look puzzled when he heard this. He murmured to himself, "Is there any problem with this? We've always trained like this!"
Zhao Ming shook his head helplessly, his lips curled up slightly, and he continued with a somewhat teasing tone: "Based on the detailed data analysis of the Victory Team's past battles with various monsters and alien creatures, in addition to the Lebik alien who captured humans and the cunning twins Meizhulang aliens who came later.
"Most other monsters and aliens are almost completely immune to attacks from these small laser weapons. In other words, the damage we can inflict on truly gigantic enemies with a barrage of Brest pistol fire is practically negligible!"
"Well... well!!" Zhao Ming's detailed explanation was like a sharp sword, piercing through Kihi Gosuke's embarrassment. He could only scratch his head helplessly.
Back then, Kihiko was an elite member of the police department's ground rescue unit, a veteran with extensive experience in ground combat. Therefore, after becoming captain, he never stopped training in ground shooting combat.
Zhao Ming was talking and laughing, and said humorously, "Of course, I'm not saying that this shooting training is useless, it's just that enemies like aliens or monsters who hijack humans are really rare.
After all, those minions who can be dealt with with guns don't need the Super Victory Team to be dispatched; ordinary police officers from the police department can easily handle them. Our top priority is to focus on training in flying fighter planes!" After saying this, his eyes fell directly on Asuka Shin.
Asuka Xin felt the implicit meaning in this look and immediately lowered his head. After all, he had flown the Alpha fighter twice, and one ended up being overhauled and the other scrapped.
Xibi Gangsuke stroked his chin and said after a moment of deep thought, "You do have a point, but shooting training can't be completely discarded. After all, firearms can still be very useful in ground pursuits and close-quarters combat."
Then, the command for shooting practice came like a whirlwind, and Koda rushed into the training grounds like an arrow from a bow. His posture was nimble, like a cheetah, and he quickly scanned every corner for possible monster cards.
The sunlight filtered through the cracks in the mottled wall, sprinkling down like golden sand, illuminating the Brest pistol in his hand, which flashed a cold light, as if speaking of its majesty.
Koda's eyes were focused and determined, like a falcon locking onto its prey, tightly locked onto the distant target. He raised the Brest rifle calmly, his arm as steady as a rock, with almost no trembling.
"Bang, bang, bang..." The sound of laser gunfire echoed incessantly, resonating like a symphony in the empty house. With his superb marksmanship and calm composure, Team Koda accurately struck several of the paper monster targets.
The shooting ended and the target was called. He was so far ahead with an excellent score of 85. His teammates cast admiring glances at him. This result was like the brightest star in the night sky, shining brightly, undoubtedly proving his solid shooting skills.
Although there was no trace of pride on Koda Toshiyuki's face, the slightly raised corners of his mouth still revealed a hint of joy in his heart...
