Passerby's Guide to Eating Watermelons
Chapter 23 Modern World 23: Protagonist
Zuo Zhizhi didn't mind this, or rather, it was exactly what she wanted. As long as one had the ability, family background had nothing to do with it.
After all, only those who rely entirely on their own hard work can understand that opportunities are hard-won, and will work harder to do everything at hand.
Most of the supporting roles have been found, the only problem is that there are still no suitable candidates for the two heroines of the story.
One of the two heroines comes from a family of police officers with generations of generations, but she has been pampered since childhood and behaves like a young lady.
Not to mention the other one, a beautiful, rich and overseas returnee must not be petty, and must act rebellious and look down on everyone.
Perhaps due to lack of experience, everyone's performance always lacks that little bit of flavor.
There are a few people in the school who fit this profile, but unfortunately, they have either gone outside the school to shoot their own TV series, or are being shortlisted by Tang Yurong.
Although they were very tempted by Zuo Zhizhi's proposal, they did not want to give up the opportunity to get close to the daughter of a wealthy family.
Zuo Zhizhi bit her back teeth to pieces. This damn Tang Yurong is really haunting her!
But since there were still two people left, Zuo Zhizhi suddenly thought that there might be a simpler way.
In the evening, Zuo Zhizhi called Xu Mingzhu and asked, "My dear friend, will you make some sacrifices for me, your dearest best friend?"
Listening to Zuo Zhizhi's words, Xu Mingzhu rolled her eyes involuntarily, "If you have something to say, just say it!"
"There's been some problems with the school play. I still can't find the right heroine!"
Xu Mingzhu immediately understood, "Oh, I see! You want me to be the leading actress, but my drama won't wrap up for another two months! Can you wait that long?"
"Uh!" Zuo Zhizhi nodded. This was indeed a problem. "Two months is too long. I definitely can't wait. If we start filming after two months, we won't be able to finish filming by the end of this semester!"
Xu Mingzhu was also somewhat helpless, "I've already finished filming half of the show, I can't just quit!"
The two of them were silent for a while. Zuo Zhizhi seemed to have suddenly thought of something and asked tentatively, "How did you shoot it over there?"
"We filmed and edited simultaneously, shooting for six days and taking a day off, hoping to air it as soon as possible!" Xu Mingzhu was a little confused. "What's wrong with that? It's a modern drama anyway, with no special effects, so the schedule is fast, so we just filmed it this way!"
Zuo Zhizhi nodded immediately, "That's right! It's time to test your friendship. I'll send you the script. Memorize it in advance. We'll shoot during the break!"
Now it was Xu Mingzhu's turn to be surprised. "How can they finish filming in one day a week? Don't you know that filming is very slow?"
"Hehe!" Zuo Zhizhi smiled, "It's okay, my dear bestie, you're not the protagonist!"
"What?" Xu Mingzhu was a little angry. "You want me to play a supporting role for other people? A group of students at school, and your homemade skit! Hey, hey, hey! This isn't the way to cheat people!"
"No, no, no!" Zuo Zhizhi kept it a secret. "How else can you say your friendship is being tested? You can't be someone else's partner, so what if it's not someone else?"
"It's you! You're going to play the leading role!"
It’s no wonder Xu Mingzhu was surprised. After all, Mo Peilan had hoped that Zuo Zhizhi would apply for the acting major from the very beginning.
However, I was in my rebellious period at that time and I was determined to go against my parents no matter what, so I chose the directing major which I had no interest in.
In Zuo Zhizhi's life creed, she has no chance of becoming a businessman like her father, nor a strong woman like her mother. She doesn't have the intelligence to continue her studies, so she might as well choose to study directing.
Apart from anything else, with so many students graduating from directing departments every year, only a few actually become directors, so it doesn't matter if I don't become a director.
As a result, Zuo Zhizhi ended up spending three years in college.
Although I have some regrets about the choice I made back then, overall I don’t feel anything.
After all, apart from Xu Mingzhu, no one probably knows that this is the result of his own rebellion.
Like my brother, he thought he had fallen in love with the directing profession and even encouraged his mother to find a few more directors for him to learn from.
Zuo Zhizhi was also very speechless about this, but by some coincidence, this matter was accepted by everyone.
Xu Mingzhu thought about it carefully and said, "That's fine!"
Although it is irritating to be a supporting role to an unknown person, it is a different matter if that person is your best friend.
Zuo Zhizhi was very satisfied and sent the script to her, and told her to carefully consider the role and make sure to act beautifully and crazily, with a hint of evil charm.
"...What are you talking about? Can you give me some constructive advice?"
The next day, Zuo Zhizhi gathered others to start the final coordination work.
"Because this is a low-budget crime drama, we need to first analyze the important geographical locations."
"The heroine's home appears the most in this short play, followed by the villain's home, and then there are various crime-solving scenes."
Zuo Zhizhi was the first to raise her hand. "The heroine's home has nothing to do with the villain's home. I can find a way to fix it."
Although the heroine is from a police family, she does have some money, so she doesn't need to worry at all. She just needs to find a villa. The same goes for the villain's house. Although the styles of the two houses cannot be the same, it's not a problem.
If you search the circle of friends, Zuo Zhizhi can easily find such scenes, it is no problem at all.
As for the scenes of the crime, according to the script, there are four: a hospital, a bar, a residential area and an abandoned factory.
Although the four locations were relatively common, obtaining their business licenses simultaneously was still a challenge. Zuo Zhizhi considered it carefully and nodded again, "It's okay for these four locations. I'll find someone. Our filming time isn't long anyway, so there's no need to build a special location. We can just borrow one!"
Seeing Zuo Zhizhi's calm demeanor, everyone nodded involuntarily, "I hope so. Otherwise, if there's no scene, they won't be able to film their drama!"
Zuo Zhizhi didn't know what everyone was thinking, but she did think about it in her mind and realized that there was absolutely no problem with these places.
The shooting order and progress can be based on the previous script. The only problem is that the villain's scenes need to be concentrated and shot separately.
However, most of the villain scenes are relatively focused and all take place indoors, so there’s no problem.
Everything is ready and everything starts smoothly.
On the first day of work, Zuo Zhizhi gave everyone in the crew a surprise!
