Traveling through Thailand
Chapter 40 Mountain Climbing
After being assigned rooms, everyone rushed to wash up and sleep, ultimately waking up just before the agreed time. Startled awake, Xiao Yi checked the time on his phone and immediately jumped to call them, initiating the wake-up call. Time was running out, he quickly washed up, grabbed the large bag he'd packed the night before, and headed downstairs. Conveniently, after realizing they'd miss their scheduled time, he messaged Tai, asking him to leave first and meet at the guesthouse. Tai, upon receiving the message, also left first.
By the time everyone was ready, nearly an hour had passed. Luckily, it wasn't far from here, just over an hour's drive. After meeting at the reception desk, I apologized to Tai and was led by the staff to our rented B&B. Xiao Yi had a two-bedroom, one-living room, one-bathroom apartment, while Tai had a single room. Rain and the others had joined us at short notice, so they didn't share the room. Fortunately, it wasn't far, just two turns away.
During lunch, Rian, his boyfriend, and Phraphai decided to prepare dinner here. They set out for the hike at 11:30, aiming to be back before sunset. With a set schedule in place, they each took their own positions and made their own preparations. Xiao Yi busily sorted through his backpack for items he might need.
The accuracy of the weather forecast was truly impressive. Just twenty minutes into their climb, a large patch of dark clouds appeared in the sky. As the clouds grew thicker and denser, it looked as if they were about to collapse. Xiao Yi pulled out disposable raincoats from his backpack and distributed them to them.
"Disposable raincoat? How did you come up with that?" Sky asked as he took the raincoat and put it on.
"I bought it when I decided to go hiking. I thought it would be useful. I also thought it would be inconvenient to climb with an umbrella, so a raincoat would be more convenient."
Tai put on his raincoat and looked up at the clouds above his head: "With such thick clouds, the rain must be heavy. With this raincoat, we will be safer."
As soon as they were all dressed, the rain began to fall. The drops were large, stinging slightly, and Xiao Yi and Tai were instantly deafened. Sky, aware of their condition, slowly pulled a rope from his bag and tied them up. He pulled out a waterproof bag, placed his phone inside, and typed a message for them: "Prevent getting lost." Seeing clearly, the two nodded and continued up the mountain, followed Sky's lead.
As time went on, the rain did not subside, but instead got heavier. The strong wind that followed made their journey up the mountain even more difficult.
Rian, who was staying at the guesthouse, looked out the window at the heavy rain and was very worried: "P'phayu, do you think they can succeed?"
Phayu, who was sitting on the sofa, kept his eyes on Rain, paying attention to his expression at every moment: "Don't worry, Xiao Yi is quite skilled in martial arts. Sky may not be as good as him, but he's not bad either. As for their friend... With Xiao Yi around, there won't be any problems."
"Ah."
Seeing his frown, Phayu walked up to him and hugged him: "Don't worry, we have to trust him."
For safety, they switched positions and held hands. Initially, Sky led the way, followed by Xiao Yi, who was followed by Tai. Now, Xiao Yi was in the front, Tai was in the middle, and Sky was at the back. Xiao Yi's chassis was very stable, keeping him steady and preventing the wind from blowing him around, effectively shielding him from most of the wind and rain. Tai was the weakest of the group, so Sky took the rear, just in case he got in trouble and could help him out in time.
They braved the wind and rain, step by step, as they made their way to the top of the mountain. I don't know how long they walked, but I know their raincoats and hats were blown off, leaving their hair soaking wet. Xiao Yi's wig was also blown away by the strong wind, leaving a waterfall of hair cascading down, clinging to his face and raincoat.
After enduring countless hardships, he finally reached the top of the mountain. He wiped the rain off his face and pulled back the hair that was stuck to his face. Suddenly, the rope around his waist tightened. Fortunately, his bottom was stable, otherwise the force would have really pulled him down.
I quickly grabbed their fallen bodies and breathed a sigh of relief when I realized they were only unconscious. I looked around and found a flat spot. Since there was no shelter from the rain, I had to let them lie down temporarily. I quickly pulled the tents from my bag and assembled them immediately. Once they were done, I carried them into the tent one by one.
He took off their raincoats and wet clothes, rolled them up into a black trash bag, and tossed it in a corner. He wiped them down with a large, clean towel before lying down in the vacant space. At that moment, Xiao Yi was thankful that the tent he'd bought was large enough for three people. When the silence settled, the only sounds left were the patter of raindrops hitting the tent and the whistling wind. Perhaps he was truly exhausted, so amidst the clamor, Xiao Yi fell asleep.
Tai was the first to wake up, and Sky woke up soon after.
After waking up, they found themselves in a tent. Tai hadn't heard the sound of raindrops hitting the tent for a long time, and hearing it again made him happy. Because hearing the sound in the rain meant that he could live like a normal person and would not lose his hearing in the rain.
Phat knew about his decision to go hiking and supported it. As for why he didn't come this time, it was because his work schedule was very busy recently and he didn't have time to participate in the hiking activity.
Tai's current relationship with him is just that of a friend, as Tai doesn't believe soulmates will become family. His own family is a prime example. Soulmates can be together, but they still end up falling in love with others. Therefore, he doesn't trust their decisions. And when Xiao Yi got involved with him and Phat, his trust in soulmates plummeted. Therefore, after Xiao Yi decided on a date, he became even more determined to go hiking.
Xiao Yi was woken up by the noises around him, mainly the sound of raindrops falling on the tent, which he found very noisy.
"you're awake."
Sitting up, he saw the two people sitting next to him and picked up the thermos in the corner: "There's ginger tea in it, you guys can have some."
Sky was the first to take it: "Actually, we've already drunk it."
"Then you must not have drunk much, since the amount of this thermos hasn't decreased."
"You put too much ginger in it. The taste is really unbearable."
"Even if you can't accept it, you have to drink it. Otherwise, if you catch a cold, won't it be even worse?"
Tai endured the smell of ginger tea and was forced to drink two cups: "No, I feel like I'm going to vomit if I drink any more."
He picked up a new paper cup and poured it for himself: "Is it really that bad?" After taking a sip, he smacked his lips and said: "It tastes pretty good."
After finishing the cup in one breath, Xiao Yi sighed, "After finishing one cup, I feel much warmer."
After finishing his ginger tea, Xiao Yi started rummaging through his bag again. Tai and Sky each wrapped themselves in a towel. "What are you looking for?"
He turned out most of the things and took out the clothes in the waterproof bag from the innermost part: "Your clothes are all wet. You can't go down the mountain in wet clothes later. If that happens, then the ginger tea will be wasted."
Thinking of the taste of ginger tea, they immediately showed a look of pain on their faces, and they commented in their hearts: I don’t want to drink it again in this life.
I unzipped the waterproof bag and pulled out new clothes and pants. My boxers were in another waterproof bag, all new and still in their packaging.
They picked up their new clothes, looked at each other, then at Xiao Yi who was packing up, and finally, they tacitly leaned back to the other side, quickly changing into their boxer briefs before putting on clean clothes. After getting dressed, they put a large towel underneath to prevent the dampness from soaking the clothes.
