Traveling through Thailand

Chapter 17 New Friends

While waiting for Doubao's checkup at the veterinary hospital, Xiao Yi looked at the gathering dark clouds and decided to wait out the rain at the cafe across the street. After he ordered his coffee and chose a seat, the rain began to pour down. The sound of footsteps and whispers around him vanished as the rain began to fall.

When you open your phone and look at the incoming call message, you know who the message is from without even clicking on it: It’s raining, do you want me to pick you up?

Xiao opened the input box: No, I'm in a coffee shop now.

sky: Which one?

Xiao Yi: It’s opposite the pet shop.

sky: Yeah.

Xiao Yi: But it seems like the rain may not stop for a while. If you’re hungry, eat some snacks first. I’ll come back and make you something delicious.

sky:Okay.

As the semester was drawing to a close, teachers had a lot of homework, so most of the time was spent on hands-on work. Xiao Yi had anticipated some of the homework before it was due, so he wasn't pressed for time. Looking at the last message from Sky on his phone, Xiao Yi sighed as he thought about entering university, choosing architecture, and how his activities with Sky had largely been reduced.

When the coffee arrived, the rich aroma filled my nostrils. I took a sip and mentally gave it an 80. While savoring it and daydreaming, a sticky note caught my eye. After reading the words on it, I looked up at the person who had come. It was a young man wearing glasses, with a youthful and beautiful appearance. Seeing his good looks, Xiao nodded in agreement.

After the boy sat down, he handed him another piece of paper: I need to work on the computer, I hope I won’t disturb you.

Xiao Yi pointed to the pen in his hand, took the pen and wrote on the paper: No, please.

As time passed, the heavy rain outside gradually subsided, and the young man at the table had put away his computer and was sipping his coffee.

Waiting is a very boring thing. Xiao Yi opened his mobile phone and checked the super topic from time to time. He did not notice that the person on the other side took several photos secretly while he was concentrating.

Tai, who successfully took beautiful photos, posted them in the group: I met a handsome boy on a rainy day.

Soon, a lot of comments appeared in the group: Ah!!! So handsome!!

A: Yes, it’s really handsome.

B: Please help my sister get her contact information.

A: I want one too. I want one too. I can’t miss such a handsome guy.

Tai looked at the series of messages and smiled silently. No matter how the group called out, he did not send any more messages and drank his coffee in silence.

Time was running out, and Xiao Yi decided to ask the staff at the pet hospital to help him run a trip. Thinking of this, Xiao Yi also sent a message to the pet hospital. A few minutes later, he saw a man in pet hospital uniform walking towards him, holding an umbrella in one hand and carrying a cat bag in the other.

Xiao Yi, who had successfully caught the cat, nodded to express his gratitude. The man also waved his hand to indicate that he was welcome, and walked back the way he came.

He placed the cat bag at his feet and returned to his seat.

A note was handed over: Is this your cat?

Xiao Yi looked up at the boy opposite him with a gentle smile and picked up the pen beside him: "Well, it's called Doubao. Do you like cats too?"

A sticky note was very small, and only had space for a few words. So after Xiao Yi finished reading, he put it aside and watched him write on a new piece of sticky paper.

Tai: My name is Saengtai, you can call me Tai.

He took the paper and wrote on the bottom: Xiao Yi, from Longguo.

Tai: Wow, I didn’t realize you speak T language so well.

Xiao Yi: Thank you.

Tai: What kind of cat do you have? I've been thinking about getting a cat lately.

Xiao Yi: Doubao is an orange cat, and I have only had it for a few days.

When they talked about their sudden deafness, they realized that they were in the same boat. When Xiao Yi explained that he didn't have a soul mate, Tai couldn't hide the shock on his face. However, the envy in his eyes made Xiao Yi very confused.

Tai: Didn’t you go to the hospital for this condition?

Xiao Yi: No, it's just a little inconvenient on rainy days, but it's no big deal. It's nice this way, I really enjoy the quiet.

Tai: Yeah. It's actually quite good this way. At least you're free and you won't be forced into anything.

Xiao Yi: How about you? How is your soul mate? Male? Female? Is he/she good-looking?

Tai: I’m a man, but since the day we became soulmates, I force myself not to make any sound whenever it rains.

Xiao Yi was surprised by what he heard: Why?

Tai: I don’t want to get too involved, so there won’t be any trouble if I ignore it.

Seeing that he looked unhappy, Xiao Yi didn't ask any more questions. "Well, if you don't want to care, then don't care. There's no rule that says you have to be together if you have a soulmate. I remember there's a mountain. If you successfully climb to the top on a rainy day, the symptoms will disappear. Why don't we find a time to go together?"

Tai: Okay, I'm planning that too. I'm afraid to go it alone, but if I were with you, we could help each other.

The topic then shifted from cats to sudden deafness on rainy days, and they had a very pleasant chat before the rain stopped. Finally, Xiao Yi had a new friend in his contacts list, a friend who suffered from the same condition as him.

Lying in bed, Xiao Yi could still clearly remember the other person's shocked expression, and could also see the disbelief revealed in his words. He had never expected such a situation to exist. Thinking of what they talked about later, Xiao Yi couldn't help but smile.

Finally, the exams were over, but when the president arrived with the performance list, Xiao Yi was devastated. He had never imagined that he would be forced to prepare a performance. And when he learned that Rain and Sky were the ones behind this bad idea, Xiao Yi only felt that he had made the wrong friends.

So when the two of them hugged each other's thighs and acted like they really wanted to see him perform in ancient costume, that's why they came up with this bad idea. Xiao Yi broke down under their aggrieved offensive and pinched their cheeks with one hand: "So you're selling me out like this?"

Rain grumbled, "It's Yi's fault for not wearing it for us to see. He also said that the dress should be worn on the right occasion. We thought that this school event would be a suitable occasion! So we discussed it and signed you up."

"Oh, should I thank you?"

"If you want to thank me, just agree to participate in the event."

Sky nodded repeatedly on the side.

He withdrew his hands from pinching his face and picked up the registration form.

"What a fool the president is! He's messing with you. He submitted it without even writing the content of the performance."

After seeing his tone soften, Rain quickly came over and asked, "Hey, Yi, what are you going to perform this time?"

Xiao Yi rolled his eyes at them and said, "How about a live performance of stir-fried pork with bamboo shoots?"

Having spent so much time together, they had some understanding of the meaning behind some words. So after this sentence appeared, Rain and Sky took a step back in sync and covered their buttocks: "This performance is not good. Change it."

Xiao glanced at the president hiding outside the door, then looked at his friend who had become his enemy. Helplessly, he held his forehead and said, "This is just this once, it won't happen again."

Hearing this, they jumped up with joy: "Wow! It worked. Don't worry, Yi, I will record your performance from beginning to end that day."

Pushing aside Rain, who was about to cling to him with excitement, he wrote "Kenwu" on the performance section of the paper. Then he handed it to the president, who came rushing in to take it.
