Dressing as Ziwei makes the Qing Dynasty more powerful

Chapter 15: Concubine Ling is Seriously Ill

Concubine Ling lay quietly on the large, luxurious bed. Her once fair and delicate face was now completely bloodless, like a pale piece of rice paper, appearing extremely weak and powerless. Her beautiful eyes were filled with anticipation as she stared intently at the door, waiting for the bright yellow figure, the symbol of imperial power, to appear before her.

However, when she saw Dongxue staggering and panicking at the door, the glimmer of hope that had just ignited in her heart was instantly shattered without a trace.

"Where is the emperor?" Concubine Ling's voice trembled, with disappointment and anxiety that were hard to conceal.

Dongxue fell to her knees beside the bed with a plop, her head lowered almost touching the ground, and said tremblingly: "Your Majesty, the Emperor has gone to Kunning Palace and is resting with the Empress." Hearing this, Concubine Ling's face became even uglier, and the light in her eyes gradually dimmed.

"Then have you told the emperor that I am sick? And my illness is very serious!" Concubine Ling raised her voice and asked, suppressing the discomfort in her heart.

Dongxue quickly shook her head. "Your Majesty, it was Chief Steward Li who went in to report this, but the Emperor said... the Emperor said... if you're sick, you should consult the imperial physician. He doesn't know how to diagnose or treat illnesses himself."

Before she could finish her words, there was a crisp "slap" sound. In a rage, Concubine Ling reached out and fiercely swept the medicine bowl on the bedside to the ground. Then, she suddenly threw back the quilt, jumped out of bed, walked quickly to Dongxue, and slapped her mercilessly with a loud slap.

"Waste! Kneel over there!" Concubine Ling pointed at the broken porcelain pieces on the ground and scolded him in a stern voice.

Looking at the sharp fragments on the ground, Dongxue's face turned pale as paper, but she didn't dare to complain. She could only kneel silently and move forward a few steps, then without hesitation, she knelt on the sharp porcelain fragments. In an instant, blood flowed down her calves, staining the carpet under her feet red.

"You useless thing! You can't even invite the Emperor!" Concubine Ling stared at Dongxue fiercely, her eyes wide with anger and dissatisfaction. Dongxue was already trembling with fear, tears welling up in her eyes, but she didn't dare to cry out loud.

Wintersweet hung her head, cowering like a frightened deer, and quietly stood in a secluded corner. She tried her best to hide her presence, as if she was afraid that the blazing anger would affect her like an innocent person.

"The shameless bitch, the Queen, is already old and her beauty has faded, but she still dares to flirt and seduce the Emperor. Isn't she afraid of retribution and shortening her life span? Did you see it clearly? Are you really sure that it was the Queen who was sleeping with him? And not that Ziwei?" The Queen asked angrily.

Dongxue endured the sharp pain in her body and stammered, "I...I heard it clearly. It was indeed the Empress' voice. And...and she even begged the Emperor to come and visit you, but the Emperor was adamant and refused."

Before he could finish his words, a sudden crackling sound was heard, followed by a chaotic and chaotic tossing and smashing of things. In a short moment, the once spacious and magnificent bedroom had become a shambles, with almost no place left to stand.

"Bitch! Bitch! They are all shameless bitches! The Queen is an absolute bitch, and Ziwei is even more of a seductive vixen! There is not a single good person in Kunning Palace. I don't believe that the Queen would be so kind as to persuade the Emperor to come and see me. Go and find out for me what exactly happened in Kunning Palace, and why did the Emperor suddenly favor that bitch!" Concubine Ling roared with gritted teeth, her anger was beyond words.

Lamei rushed out at a trot. Kunning Palace was like an extremely solid iron barrel. There was no way to get any useful information. So she thought it would be more appropriate to hide in a secluded place, and then go back after dawn to say that she had not found out anything.

After venting her anger, Concubine Ling finally exhausted all her strength and could no longer find anything to smash to vent her anger.

She slowly sat down, breathing heavily. After a moment, she calmed down a bit and said weakly, "Get up now, get some medicine to apply to the wound, and then call someone to clean up this place. Before dawn, be sure to go to Shufangzhai and invite Xiaoyanzi... Tell her that I am seriously ill and bedridden." With that, she lay back on the soft bed and soon fell into a deep sleep.

After confirming that Concubine Ling was soundly asleep, Dongxue trembled and climbed up quietly, as if treading on thin ice. She stumbled and limped to the next room, tears streaming down her face as she tended to her wounds.

The next morning, sunlight streamed into the house through the window. Ziwei had just picked up a golden and crispy spring roll with chopsticks and was about to put it into her mouth to taste it when she suddenly heard the screams of a little swallow outside the house.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, how can you sleep in Kunning Palace? Concubine Ling is so ill that she can't even get out of bed. You should go and see her quickly!" This sharp cry instantly broke the tranquility of the early morning, as if a thunderclap exploded in the air.

The Queen slowly awoke and opened her eyes, feeling aches and weakness all over her body. Madam Rong hurried forward to support her, carefully helping her to her feet. Madam Rong's eyes fell on the purple bruises on the Queen's body, her heart and eyes filled with pity and reluctance. The Emperor truly didn't know how to cherish such a beautiful woman.

The Empress was also quite embarrassed. She had never been so unbridled and wild when she first entered the palace, but now, old and faded, she was like this... She didn't even know when the Emperor left. As she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard a commotion outside.

"Little Swallow, what are you yelling about here? Don't disturb the Empress's rest, or I will punish you severely!" Qianlong finally waited until the end of court and hurried home to Kunning Palace, eager to hold that delicate body tightly in his arms and catch up on some sweet sleep. But upon entering the palace, he heard Little Swallow's piercing screams, wondering what earth-shattering event had occurred.

Seeing the Emperor approach, Xiaoyanzi rushed over, grabbed his sleeve, and dragged him out without saying a word, shouting, "Father Emperor, please come with me to see Concubine Ling! She's seriously ill and bedridden. Please go and see her for the last time!"
