The first of the Night Watch’s Ten Iron Laws: Anyone who neglects his night patrol will be beheaded!
What is laziness?
Disobeying the call, abandoning the troops halfway, cheating, stealing the token, and failing to return within the specified time are all considered as slackness.
If you fail to light up the night patrol token, you will be considered abandoned and beheaded.
Qin He looked at the blood still flowing on the ground and shook his head.
That guy probably didn't lie, but the iron law of Sin City doesn't care whether you lie or not. If you violate the iron law, you will die.
Then Qin He walked forward and handed over his jade token.
The scholar in white took the jade token, his eyes swept across the camel beast's corpse, then fell on Qin He. He asked in a cold voice, "Did you find the Netherfire Beast at the patrol point?"
"Your Excellency, I saw it on my way back. There was nothing unusual near the patrol point." Qin He bowed.
A hint of doubt flashed across the white-robed scholar's eyes. "Are you... a physical cultivator?"
"Yes." Qin He nodded.
The scholar in white tapped the table with his slender white fingers and nodded, saying, "You have passed the night patrol. Go and collect your reward."
"Thank you, sir." Qin He bowed and was about to pass through.
The scholar in white suddenly said, "Wait a moment."
Qin He's heart tightened, he stopped and looked at him warily.
The scholar in white, the prosecutor of Sin City. Qin He did not know his real name. The night watchmen called him Bai Yanwang behind his back. His strength was in the late stage of Shenqiao Realm. He was a cruel official in Sin City and had killed people like crazy.
To Qin He at this moment, this person is extremely threatening.
"Did you kill this Nether Fire Beast alone?" asked the scholar in white.
Qin He nodded and said, "I'm lucky. When I ran into it, it was already seriously injured."
Qin He had already thought of an excuse in advance. After being frozen in the middle of the night, a layer of ice shell had formed on the camel's body, covering the wound.
The white-robed scholar raised his lips slightly, revealing an ambiguous smile. "Netherfire Beasts are male and female, and rarely separate. You're quite lucky to have come across a lone and severely injured Netherfire Beast."
Qin He's heart skipped a beat. He didn't recognize this camel beast. There was no record of it in any of the books in the abyss world. A male and a female were traveling together. This was just a ridiculous thing. They made up an extremely low-probability event. It wasn't convincing enough.
Just as Qin He was about to discuss his response, the scholar in white didn't ask any further questions. He waved his hand and said, "Go ahead. If one of these beasts dies, the other will fight you to the death. I hope you'll have such good luck next time you're on patrol."
"Thank you for the reminder, sir."
Qin He bowed, received ten low-grade spirit stones from the salary-distributing clerk nearby, and left in a hurry.
Behind the gate, there is the huge city of sin. At a glance, it stretches from the ground to the end of the sky. The houses are of different heights, smoke rises straight up, and a foul air lingers above the city.
Ruin can be seen everywhere. Qin He could not feel the spiritual energy here at the moment. It was heard that it was extremely scarce. If one consumed 10% of his vitality, he would have to drink northwest wind for half a month to replenish it.
Qin He carried the Nether Fire Beast and walked through the streets, attracting many people's attention.
Many people stopped to watch. Those who could bring back evil things from the wilderness were the lucky ones.
If you spend money frugally, you don't have to go on night patrol or do any labor for half a year.
Some mercenaries came forward and wanted to buy the Nether Fire Beast that Qin He was carrying at a low price, but they were all ignored. Qin He walked through several streets as if he was familiar with the route and arrived at the market.
Although the Sin City is destroyed, it is still a city, and it has the same functions as cities outside.
The only difference is that the people of Sin City need to be summoned for night patrol once a month. If you don’t want to go, you have to pay spirit stones.
To survive here, you either fight for your life or fight for spirit stones. Each of the Eight Immortals has his own magical powers, and only the fittest survive.
"Oh, the guest is here again, hahahaha... I am very happy to see the guest returning from the wilderness."
In a shop, an old man with a pointed face and eyes full of mercenary and shrewdness saw the corpse of the Nether Fire Beast on Qin He's shoulder, and immediately ran out from the counter with his eyes shining.
He immediately noticed the Netherfire Beast on Qin He's shoulder. This kind of evil creature was a rare and unique item in the Demon Abyss. Reselling it to the outside world would bring at least twenty times the profit. Even if the Sin City Government took away 90% of the tax, there would still be a lot left.
"Let's calculate the price."
Qin He threw the corpse of the Nether Fire Beast directly on the ground, took out a pile of jackdaw corpses from his pocket and threw them together, then sat down carelessly.
The shopkeeper hurriedly called the waiter to serve tea to Qin He and said, "Sir, you have made a great harvest this time. Don't worry, sir, have some tea first and we can talk slowly."
Qin He picked up the teacup and gulped down the whole thing. Without being polite, he said, "Don't try to get close to me. Tell me how much you can count. I'm warning you, don't lie to me. If you do, I'll go somewhere else right away and never come to your place again."
There are no good people in this damn place called Sin City.
This old guy is not a good person either. When he first started doing business, he cheated Qin He several times. If this street was not full of unscrupulous businessmen, Qin He would definitely not come here.
"No, no, no, how could that be? I absolutely won't let you get anything out of this street. This is the price I, Khufu, give you. Feel free to ask around." The old shopkeeper immediately patted his chest and assured him, "The Nether Fire Beast will be 200 Spirit Stones. The Jackdaw will be the same price, 5 Spirit Stones each. The Three-Eyed Demon Ape will be 80 Spirit Stones. Add 2 and 1 to make 50, and you'll get a total of 340 Spirit Stones. It's a high price, and you won't get anything out of this."
"Think about this knife again!" Qin He took out the confiscated long knife again.
"This can be given for thirty spirit stones." The old shopkeeper stretched out four fingers and hooked one back at the last moment.
"Where is this broken sword?"
"Five dollars!"
"You profiteer, I bought the sword from you for forty spirit stones."
"It's broken, so if it's broken, we can only charge according to the material."
"Your product has quality issues. It broke as soon as you bid. I'll give you another chance to bid."
"Ten bucks at most."
