Guanzhong Tomb Robbery Notes

Chapter 81: Finding Dragon Points and Opening the Golden Well

Many people understand the literal meaning and think that Jinjing means a water well.

actually not.

In the 1950s, Longquanzhuang Village outside the Western Qing Tombs built a well and the village was racking its brains to find cadres to work on it.

Some people suggested that there was a golden well in Princess Duanshun Gulun's mausoleum, which must be a well with abundant water.

It is better to dig a golden well and turn it into a machine well.

The village cadres thought it made sense, so they organized people to dig up the princess's tomb which had long been looted.

But when the golden well was opened, there was no water at all.

We continued digging several meters down, but still couldn't find any water.

In fact, Jinjing is a term in Feng Shui.

It refers to the acupoint determined by searching for dragons and locating acupoints.

"To find the dragon and divide the gold, look at the winding mountains. Each winding is a barrier. If the barrier is eight points dangerous, it will be in the shape of Yin and Yang Bagua."

This is a mantra for finding dragons that has been widely circulated through novels.

In fact, it comes from the "Han Long Jing" of the Tang Dynasty. The original text is: When looking for a dragon, you must look at the mountains that surround it. Each layer of winding is a barrier. If the door has thousands of locks, there must be a king living here.

These four short sentences summarize the criteria for finding the tombs of kings and princes buried in the mountains.

First, it must be surrounded by mountains, and second, it must be locked by water.

When both are present, there is a possibility of forming a dragon's lair. Next, we need to look at the sand, water, the flow direction of vital energy, etc., to determine whether it is a real dragon's lair.

Many terrains resemble dragon veins, but factors such as sand surrounding water and the flow direction of vital energy are not good and cannot form a dragon cave. This is a false dragon vein.

Some half-baked Feng Shui masters have not learned the ability to identify real dragon caves, and often mistake false dragon veins for real dragon veins, and finally point out false dragon caves as auspicious locations.

Therefore, there is a saying in Feng Shui that "it takes three years to find the dragon and ten years to locate the acupuncture point".

What they mean is that it is easy to find a dragon but difficult to locate its acupoints.

Later, I asked a Feng Shui master about the time when the Golden Well appeared.

He said that in the past, tombs built in auspicious locations were called Golden Wells.

From the Northern Song Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty, some people suggested that bricks and stones would isolate the earth's energy, resulting in the tomb chamber being isolated from the outside world, which is not conducive to the communication between yin and yang and the blessing of future generations.

Therefore, in order to help the tomb owner communicate with yin and yang, the first exploration hole dug at the acupuncture point was built into a golden well.

That is, at the acupuncture point location, dig a small hole shaped like a well below the level of the tomb chamber.

The diameter of a gold well is usually a few centimeters to more than ten centimeters, and the depth does not exceed one meter.

Holes must be drilled in the stone bricks and slabs above the golden well hole, and when buried, the center of the coffin should be placed facing the small hole connected to the golden well.

This allows the deceased to connect with the earth's energy and communicate the endless cycle of yin and yang.

The royal family of the Ming Dynasty attached great importance to the golden well in the mausoleum.

Not only were golden wells built, but treasures were also thrown into the golden wells, which served as a place for fertile soil and treasures.

The Qing Dynasty attached great importance to the Golden Well.

It is said that when Cixi inspected the construction of her own mausoleum, she paid special attention to the Golden Well.

He also took off the jade bracelet he was wearing and threw it into the Golden Well. Later, he sent Li Lianying to the Golden Well many times to throw treasures.

The royal behavior spread to the people, and everyone from the nobles to the poor followed suit.

Poor people do not have money to build a gold well, so they usually burn mugwort and paper money in the center of the tomb, which is called a warm gold well.

For these reasons, when experienced tomb robbers encounter brick and stone tombs from the Ming and Qing dynasties, they will focus on studying whether there is a gold well in the tomb.

Because those who can afford to build brick and stone tombs are at least wealthy families.

Ability to put valuable items into the gold well.

My eyes scanned the tomb chamber and finally stopped on the bluestone slab under the coffin.

The golden well is usually located below the center of the coffin.

Judging from the situation here, if there is a golden well, it must be pressed down by the bluestone slabs.

There were no signs that the bluestone slabs had been moved.

It seems that the last tomb robber didn't expect there might be a gold well in the tomb, so he searched the coffin, smashed the porcelain and left.

"Alas! I have worked all night in vain."

"I thought I could make a fortune by discovering a landlord's tomb, but it turned out to be a waste of effort."

Su Meng complained with full of resentment.

Old Man Su was calm and composed. He consoled his son, saying, "It's normal. Back then, people were struggling, and many relied on digging graves to earn a living."

"In the past, your grandfather and your uncles could dig more than a dozen graves a night, and the mass graves could be completely dug in just three to five nights."

"I guess this grave was dug up at that time."

Wang Hu threw away the broken porcelain pieces in his hand and looked at me yawning.

"Master Chen, it's getting late, why don't you go back?"

Yawning seems to be contagious.

As Wang Hu yawned, Old Man Su and Su Meng also started yawning.

The excitement of discovering the tomb was completely gone.

Facing the tomb that had been robbed long ago, a feeling of fatigue unconsciously filled my body.

"Go back to bed early and continue looking for a grave tomorrow night." Su Meng muttered.

Old Man Su nodded slowly.

There was no gain, so I could only go home and sleep early.

"Let's go then."

"and many more."

I suddenly called out to them.

The Su family father and son looked at me in confusion.

Wang Hu was stunned for a moment, then a look of joy appeared on his face: "Master Chen, have you found anything?"

I smiled and nodded: "It's just a guess."

Su Meng moved his lips, and just as he was about to speak, Old Man Su covered his mouth.

"Shut up, you coward! Let Master Chen finish what he's saying."

He was afraid that his son would say something unpleasant again.

Su Meng's face was full of grievance, and he looked at his father pitifully. It was obvious that what he wanted to say was not unpleasant.

I didn't keep you in suspense and pointed directly at the coffin and said, "Move the coffin away."

To find out whether there is a golden well in the tomb, you just need to move the coffin.

If there really is a golden well, there must be a hole on the bluestone slab to connect to the golden well to communicate the vital energy.

The three of them stared at the coffin, their faces turning a little stunned.

Although I have done a lot of grave digging, the most I did was pry open the coffins to take things, I would never move a person's coffin.

"Isn't this disrespectful to the deceased?" Old Man Su asked in a low voice.

"We are digging up people's graves, so what's the point of respecting them?" Su Meng rolled up his sleeves and prepared to get to work.

He is at the age when he doesn't care about food or coldness.

I haven't been through much, so I'm not afraid of anything.

Wang Hu took two steps to the coffin, grabbed the corners with both hands and started pushing hard.

I glared at him: "What's the rush?"

"First, let's kneel down and kowtow three times to the tomb owner, asking him to understand our difficulties."

"oh oh!"

Wang Hu ran to my side and knelt down in front of the coffin with me.

The Su family father and son also knelt down.

I muttered a few words asking for forgiveness, saying that I would burn more paper money and gold ingots to repay them after I became rich, and then led them to kowtow three times.

This is an old rule in the tomb-robbing business, but no one follows it anymore.

Everyone went directly into the tomb to take things without saying a word to the tomb owner, let alone kneeling.

The reason is that we have lost our sense of awe.

After completing the procedure, Wang Hu and Su Meng moved the coffin together.

crunch.

With a friction sound, the coffin was pushed away from the bluestone slab.

The bluestone slab was exposed little by little, and there was indeed a small hole in the middle!

The small hole was only as big as a fist, and the dark hole underneath was obviously a deep hole.

It’s Jin Jing who’s not running away!

I took the oil lamp and illuminated the deep cave.

There was a vague shadowy object deep in the cave.

Old Man Su also looked towards the golden well: "There seems to be something inside?"
