Eagle Sauce: The 055 destroyer was launched into the sea just after the founding of the country?
Chapter 712 Nothing to do today...?
It was a morning like any other.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the fire station's blinds, casting dappled shadows on the tabletop.
Firefighter Edwards yawned, rubbed his sleepy eyes, and made himself a cup of strong American coffee.
The aroma of coffee dispelled the last trace of sleepiness in the early morning. He sat down at his workstation with the cup in hand, turned on the computer in front of him, and prepared to face this seemingly boring day.
The mornings at the fire station are always relatively quiet. Unless there is a fire alarm at night, most of the time is spent on equipment inspections, training drills, or handling administrative matters.
Edwards's 17th Fire Company is responsible for an area in downtown Washington, D.C., which is full of tall buildings and government agencies. Although fires are not frequent, when they occur, they are usually major events.
He took a sip of his coffee and began to scan the morning news.
The headlines are still about tensions in Europe and how the US government "successfully resolved" the so-called "Red Light Project" crisis.
The tone of the news reports was full of pride and praise for the president's tough stance, portraying the European protesters as "a few incited thugs."
Edwards remained noncommittal, saying politics was too far away for him and he was more concerned about the score of the next football game.
"Hey, Edwards, did you watch the game last night? The Giants played really badly!"
My colleague Max came over with donuts and plopped down on the chair next to me.
"Don't mention it," Edwards shook his head. "I fell asleep halfway through. I don't know what the coach was thinking."
The two chatted about sports events and some gossip about the fire station, and time passed in a relaxed atmosphere.
Suddenly, the alarm in the fire station sounded without warning, and the sharp and piercing sound instantly broke the morning tranquility.
"Level 1 alert! Level 1 alert! An explosion occurred on the west side of Capitol Hill!"
"Repeat, explosion on the west side of Capitol Hill! All available units dispatch immediately!"
The dispatcher's urgent voice came over the radio.
Edwards and Max looked at each other and immediately jumped up from their chairs.
Capitol Hill? That's the political heart of the US!
The firefighters put on heavy fire suits and helmets as quickly as possible and rushed to the fire truck parked in the garage.
Edwards, the operator of one of the ladder trucks, skillfully started the vehicle, sounded the siren, and followed the command vehicle in front as it sped toward Capitol Hill.
Along the way, they saw more and more police cars and ambulances roaring past, and an unusual tense atmosphere filled the air.
Edwards' heart involuntarily rose, and he had a bad feeling that this was definitely not an ordinary fire or accidental explosion.
As they approached Capitol Hill, the sight in the distance made him gasp.
An annex office building on the west side of the Capitol was filled with smoke and flames. A huge hole appeared in the upper middle part of the building, as if it had been directly pierced by some giant object.
Broken glass and building debris fell from the sky like raindrops, and the air was filled with a pungent burnt smell.
"Oh my God, what is that?"
Max sat in the passenger seat, staring at the tragic scene in front of him in amazement.
Edwards didn't respond, his attention laser-focused on driving while trying to get more information on the radio.
"Command Center, this is Squadron 17. We have arrived at the outskirts of Capitol Hill. Please provide detailed rescue plans."
"17th Squadron, immediately proceed to the west office building to assist in evacuating trapped personnel and controlling the fire."
"Attention, the situation at the scene is complicated and there may be a risk of a secondary explosion. Please be careful!"
The dispatcher's voice was filled with unconcealed anxiety.
The fire brigade trudged through the chaotic streets and finally arrived at the scene of the accident.
A large number of police, emergency personnel and media reporters who rushed to the scene have gathered here.
Injured civilians were carried on stretchers, panicked people fled in all directions, and the whole scene was in chaos.
Edwards parked the ladder truck at a safe distance, quickly operated the ladder, and aimed the water gun at the burning floor.
Other firefighters wore respirators and carried demolition tools, ready to enter the building for search and rescue.
"Captain, the fire is too big!" shouted a young firefighter, his face covered in soot. "It's hard for us to get close to the core area!"
Fire Chief Thompson was experienced. He observed the fire and gave decisive orders.
"Groups one and two are responsible for extinguishing the fire on the perimeter and controlling its spread! Groups three and four, follow me in to search and rescue!"
"Edwards, your ladder is responsible for covering us. Pay attention to the building structure. If there are signs of collapse, issue an immediate warning!"
Edwards nodded, concentrating on operating the ladder.
High-pressure water cannons fired powerful streams in an attempt to quench the raging flames, but the effect seemed ineffective. The office building had clearly suffered severe structural damage, and the fire was spreading from within, making conventional firefighting measures ineffective.
At this moment, a strange voice suddenly came from the walkie-talkie in his pocket. It was not the fire station's channel, nor the police channel, but a public broadcast frequency, which was forcibly interrupted.
A man's voice with a thick Eastern European accent sounded, clear and calm, and the roar of the plane's engine could be faintly heard in the background.
"Citizens of the world, please listen to me. We are not terrorists, we are Avengers!"
"Our homeland was destroyed by the Eagle Sauce's 'Red Light Plan' and our loved ones died in the nuclear explosion."
"We tried to seek justice through peaceful means, but the US government responded with lies and violence!"
"They suppress the truth, call us thugs, and even bomb our neighbors just to cover up their crimes."
Edwards was stunned.
He subconsciously glanced at his colleagues around him and found that they all had expressions of confusion and shock.
How could the fire station's intercom receive such a broadcast?
The voice continued, its tone filled with grief, anger and determination.
"The Eagle Sauce government thinks its hegemony can cover everything, and that its media can fool the whole world."
"But they are wrong! We came here today to use the most direct way to make them feel the pain we endured!"
"Now, this plane that crashed into the Capitol is just the beginning!"
