Odysseus quickly assesses the situation.

A frontal breakout was almost impossible, but he noticed that behind the parking lot was a dense forest with a seemingly rarely used path leading into it.

Without hesitation, Odysseus stepped on the accelerator, turned the steering wheel sharply, and the jeep roared towards the forest behind.

The armored vehicles reacted immediately and began to pursue, but their large size made it difficult to maneuver on the narrow path.

Machine gun fire rang out, and bullets whizzed past the jeep. Several rounds hit the rear, but did not cause fatal damage to the vehicle.

Odysseus focused on driving, using the trees for cover as he meandered forward.

The rain was getting heavier and visibility was extremely low, which was both a challenge and a protection.

Odysseus turned off the lights and navigated the forest, relying on his memory and the night vision he had developed from training.

After a few minutes, he could no longer hear the sounds of his pursuers.

But he knew it was only a temporary respite.

Soon, the Eagle Sauce will mobilize more resources, including helicopters and tracking dogs, to conduct a carpet search of the entire area. He must leave the current area as soon as possible.

Odysseus checked his watch: 4:53 AM.

There is still more than an hour until the system is activated.

He continued to move forward on the forest path. Suddenly, the jeep shook violently, making a harsh metallic friction sound, and then stalled.

After getting off the vehicle to check, Odysseus found that the chassis was severely damaged. It was probably the part that was hit by the bullet before that finally couldn't bear the weight, and the vehicle could not move forward.

"Damn it!" Odysseus cursed under his breath and quickly took out all the necessary equipment, preparing to move on foot.

In the distance, the roar of helicopters became clearer and clearer.

The sky was beginning to lighten, signaling the approach of dawn, making him easier to spot in the open area.

Odysseus checked his GPS and determined his location.

He was still about 12 kilometers from the pre-arranged evacuation point, which would take more than two hours at a normal speed.

But now, he only has an hour to complete the mission and evacuate.

With no choice, Odysseus begins running through the forest.

Years of special agent training had enabled him to maintain high-intensity physical activity for extended periods of time, but even so, running at full speed in a muddy forest was extremely exhausting.

His communication device suddenly rang, and it was Perseus' voice.

"Owl, what's the situation? The base has been issued a full alert."

"Encountered an accident and is evacuating on foot,"

Odysseus replied breathlessly.

"Vehicle disabled, heading to extraction point."

"Time is running out, Owl. If you can't reach extraction in time, prioritize system activation."

"Remember, that's the core of the mission."

“Understood,” Odysseus replied briefly, and continued on his way.

The rain soaked his clothes and hit his face like tiny needles.

The forest floor was varied, sometimes soft dirt, sometimes steep rock, but Odysseus did not slow down.

Suddenly, there was a dog barking and the light of a flashlight coming from the front——

Search Team!

Odysseus immediately lay down and hid behind a bush.

“Keep searching! He can’t get far!”

A voice with a thick Eagle accent ordered.

Several soldiers and two military dogs passed by less than twenty meters from where Odysseus was hiding.

The military dogs sniffed uneasily, as if they had sensed something, but the heavy rain washed away most of the scent, making it impossible for them to determine the direction.

As the search party faded into the distance, Odysseus continued on his way, but with greater caution.

He no longer chose a straight path, but instead took a circuitous route, avoiding possible search routes.

Time passes minute by minute.

At 5:21 a.m., the sound of helicopters was getting closer and the search area seemed to be shrinking.

The Eagle's reaction speed and resource allocation ability are impressive, but this is a deadly threat to Odysseus.

He gradually realized that at the current rate of progress, he would not be able to reach the evacuation point before the system activation time.

A decision had to be made – continue with the evacuation, or prioritize completing system activation?

Odysseus chose the latter.

He stopped at a relatively secluded location and quickly set up portable communication equipment.

This is a small satellite communication system that can remotely access previously implanted programs.

"Owl calling Athena, preparing for remote activation. Please confirm."

After a brief pause of static, Perseus' voice called out, "Confirm, Owl. Is your position secure?"

"Relatively safe. Helicopters and ground search teams are approaching, but I have plenty of time to complete the activation."

"Good. Remember, once you start the activation sequence, you cannot interrupt it. Make sure the signal is stable."

Odysseus carefully adjusted the antenna to ensure maximum signal strength.

"Signal stable, starting activation sequence."

He typed in a complex series of codes that would be transmitted via an encrypted satellite link to the military base's Artemis system.

The implanted program would receive these codes and modify the control parameters of the nuclear mine.

The screen began to display progress: "Connecting to the Artemis system..."

"Verify identity... Access control module... Modify detonation parameters..."

At this moment, an American soldier suddenly appeared in the bushes not far away.

Both sides were stunned for a moment, then Odysseus reacted quickly, drew his pistol, and shot the soldier in the chest.

The soldier fell, but the radio in his hand began to sound the alarm.

"Target found! Northern forest area, coordinates..."

Odysseus rushes over and kicks the radio away, but it's too late.

The alarm has been sounded and more search teams will arrive soon.

He returned to the communication device, and the system was still running:

"Parameters are being modified... 30%... 40%..."

There was more shouting and barking in the distance.

Odysseus took out his pistol and placed several simple alarm devices around him - stretched thin wires connected to small stones, which would make a sound when anyone touched them.

“55%…60%…signal fluctuation…”

"Damn it!" Odysseus cursed, quickly adjusting the antenna.

Heavy rain affected signal transmission and the progress bar stagnated.

The search party was getting closer and closer, and they had apparently narrowed their search area.

A helicopter circled overhead, its searchlight sweeping across the treetops.

"Signal reconnected...Continue parameter modification...65%...70%..."

A bullet suddenly hit the tree trunk next to Odysseus, and wood chips flew everywhere.

He quickly lay down, looked back, and saw several soldiers approaching.

Odysseus fired back with his spear, and a well-aimed shot knocked down two soldiers, forcing the others to seek cover.

But he knew he was at a disadvantage, with the enemy's numbers and firepower far exceeding his own.

“75%…80%…85%…”

Time was running out. Odysseus took out his last two grenades and threw them in the direction of the enemy.

The explosion shook the forest, buying him precious seconds.

“90%…92%…95%…”

The roar of the helicopter was getting closer, and the strong airflow was blowing the branches.

The searchlight beam continued to search, getting closer and closer to Odysseus's position.

“97%…98%…99%…”

A soldier suddenly appeared from the side, and Odysseus had almost no time to think before he instinctively fired, and the bullet pierced the other's throat.

But more enemies were approaching, and he was running low on ammunition.

"Parameter modification completed! Confirm activation?"

“Y/N“
