HP Star Shining
Chapter 40
Su Xingchen laughed at his own wild thoughts.
She raised her arm and shook the bracelet on her wrist. The small golden bells on it made a clear and pleasant tinkling sound, adding a touch of sound to the silent vestibule besides the sound of wind and snow.
Now she is no longer as sentimental as when she first came to Hogwarts. She has slowly integrated into her new life, made new friends, and started to let go of the past.
Su Xingchen was still grateful for the Su family's upbringing over the past eleven years. She felt that she had no right to resent the Su family for anything. Even if she was kicked out, the Su family had provided her with a sufficiently generous living security.
If they can't see each other again in the future, she can only say that their relationship has ended. Compared with her previous life, she is already very satisfied.
Snowflakes stained Su Xingchen's long feathery eyelashes, but on this special day, she still felt a little sad.
Not to mention that Harry and Ron had to go through a lot of trouble to meet Malfoy in the corridor of the Slytherin common room. It was unknown what bad things this guy had done and he was not in the hall nor returning to the common room.
Fortunately, they finally got the main information out before the transformation potion lost its effect. Although the content was a bit less, they didn't have enough time!
Harry and Ron hurried to safety, having fully recovered their original appearance.
"Let's go find the stars."
"Wait, Ron." Harry didn't know what he was thinking about, and he grabbed Ron.
"What's wrong? We have to hurry, she's probably freezing."
"I'm a little worried about Hermione. She just refused to come out. I wonder if something happened to her Polyjuice Potion. I'm going to find Xingchen, you go check on Hermione, and then we'll meet in the common room."
"Okay." Ron hesitated for a moment and finally agreed. After all, he didn't want to go out in the cold wind.
After Harry waited for Ron to walk towards Myrtle's bathroom, he quickly ran towards the front yard.
When he ran to the front yard, Su Xingchen was rubbing his hands and jogging back and forth in the snow, looking a little funny.
"Star!" Harry shouted, not afraid of being heard.
"Harry, you're finally here. If you hadn't come, I would have turned into a popsicle." Su Xingchen shivered, his teeth chattering.
Harry quickly pulled her into the hall and helped her brush off the snow on her head and body. Because she had gone to the auditorium to attend the Christmas dinner, Su Xingchen was not wearing a hat or gloves.
The hallway wasn't much warmer than outside.
Su Xingchen's fingers were still stiff, so Harry held her hand and rubbed it back and forth to keep her warm.
Although feeling a little ashamed, Su Xingchen was reluctant to pull his hand out. Harry's hand was too warm.
"Okay, Harry, that's enough." Su Xingchen noticed that the temperature of Harry's hands was slowly dropping, and no matter how reluctant she was to warm them, she had to speak up. She couldn't let the child get sick.
After Harry let go of Su Xingchen's hand, he began to rummage through the pockets of his robe.
"What are you looking for, Harry?"
After a moment, Harry stretched out his hand in front of Su Xingchen, with a brilliant smile on his face, "Happy birthday!"
In Harry's palm lay a crystal hairpin, a hollow star-shaped design made of rose crystal and diamonds.
Harry scratched his head sheepishly with his free hand. "Same as your necklace. I think you might like it."
"Thank you, I like it very much." Su Xingchen's eyes were a little moist, and he was deeply moved.
Although she has been wearing this necklace not because she really likes it, her efforts are not in vain and she has raised this child in vain.
She took the hairpin from Harry's hand, but because her hand was still a little stiff, she couldn't get the clip to snap shut after several attempts.
"Let me help you." Harry said.
Su Xingchen nodded and handed the hairpin back to him.
Probably because it was the first time doing this, Harry was trembling with fear. Su Xingchen felt that it was not much better than before, but at least it was fastened firmly.
"Let's go back, Hermione and Ron should be back in the common room."
"Okay." Su Xingchen walked briskly with Harry towards Gryffindor, not only because she could sit by the warm fireplace soon, but also because she received another birthday present, which was great.
I feel happy when I think about it.
Back in the common room, Ron had returned.
"Where's Hermione?" Harry asked.
As soon as Su Xingchen sat down by the stove, Ron began to complain, "I don't know what's wrong with her. No matter how much I persuade her, she won't leave that compartment. I came back to find you to find a solution."
Su Xingchen felt strange. Didn’t Hermione’s cat face disappear?
"I'll go see her when I'm warm enough."
"That's great." Ron breathed a sigh of relief, then noticed the hairpin on Su Xingchen's head.
"I remember you weren't wearing a hairpin at the dinner."
"This?" Su Xingchen touched the crooked hairpin on the side of her hair. "It's a gift. I've been keeping it in my pocket."
After Su Xingchen finished speaking, he winked at Harry cunningly.
She wasn't lying, birthday presents and Christmas presents were both gifts, and she didn't say she put them in her pocket.
While Ron wasn't paying attention, Harry gave Su Xingchen a thumbs up for his ability to fish in troubled waters.
The two of them smiled at each other inexpressibly.
When Su Xingchen was warm all over, the three of them hurried to Myrtle's bathroom.
"Hermione, open the door, it's me." Su Xingchen knocked gently on the compartment door.
"Just go away and leave me alone." Hermione looked very sad.
"What's going on? You must be back to normal now. Come out quickly, we have a lot to tell you." Ron shouted anxiously.
Moaning Myrtle suddenly flashed out from the crack of the compartment door.
Su Xingchen subconsciously hid behind her. Although Myrtle had never scared her since the Deathday Party, she already had a psychological trauma.
Myrtle seemed particularly happy today, and she made an exaggerated expression on her face: "It's simply terrible."
The three of them heard the door lock snap open and Hermione came out, sobbing and covering her head with her robes.
"What's wrong? Do you still have Millicent's nose or something?" Luo En asked uncertainly.
Hermione loosened her robes, and Ron took a few steps back and bumped into the sink. Even though Su Xingchen was mentally prepared, he was still surprised.
Hermione's face was covered with black hair, her eyes had turned yellow, and two pointed ears stood out from her fluffy hair.
"Millicent must have a cat, but Polyjuice Potion isn't for transfiguring animals," Hermione cried again.
"What bad luck," Ron muttered.
Myrtle was very happy, "Finally, someone is uglier than me. You will be teased endlessly."
"It's okay, Hermione." Su Xingchen quickly comforted her. Harry continued, "We'll take you to the hospital. Madam Pomfrey never asks too many questions..."
When Su Xingchen learned that Hermione would be hospitalized for several weeks, she felt a little guilty. She thought that although Hermione would have a cat face, she would recover in just an hour, just like Harry and the others. If she had known this, she would have tried her best to stop Hermione.
Because of this little guilt, Su Xingchen dedicated half of his time every day to accompany her in the hospital.
The Christmas holiday was over quickly. When other students returned to school after Christmas, they talked a lot about Hermione's disappearance, thinking that she had been attacked as well. Groups of students wandered around the hospital, wanting to see her.
Madam Pomfrey had to get out her draperies and hang them around Hermione's bed to prevent anyone else from seeing her furry face.
At the beginning of the new semester, Su Xingchen once again took on the task of bringing homework to Hermione every day. Fortunately, Harry and Ron would go to the hospital every night to share some of the burden for her.
I have to mention that these wizard books and homework are really big and heavy.
"If I grow a beard on my cheeks, then I can take a break and stop doing homework," said Ron as he placed a pile of books on the table next to Hermione's bed.
Hermione rolled her eyes at him. If she hadn't known that he was just like that, she would have thought he was mocking her.
Su Xingchen patted Ron's arm and chuckled, "School has just started."
"I know, Xingchen." Ron looked a little embarrassed, "But there's too much homework, especially Potions. Oh my God."
Harry continued, "I almost feel like that homework is going to take until sixth year."
"It's not that exaggerated, right?" Su Xingchen couldn't help laughing. Although it was indeed a bit too much, if these people were studying in China, wouldn't they go crazy?
She almost laughed out loud when she thought of Harry and Ron's collapse after seeing the amount of homework they had to do back home.
Well, Su Xingchen realized that his taste seemed to be getting worse and worse.
"Stop talking nonsense, both of you," Hermione glared at the two boys. "I have to catch up."
"You will be discharged soon." Su Xingchen looked at Hermione's face carefully. The black hair had faded away and her eyes slowly turned back to her original brown.
"Yes." Hermione said lightly, obviously she was very satisfied with these changes.
"I suppose you haven't got any new leads?" Hermione lowered her voice so that Madam Pomfrey wouldn't hear.
"No," said Harry dejectedly.
"I'm sure it's Malfoy!" Ron had said this countless times.
Su Xingchen was completely speechless. Young man, I have already tried to persuade you, why are you still so stubborn?
Seeing Su Xingchen's expression, Ron guessed what she was thinking. He turned his head away uncomfortably, "Maybe he is lying."
Then he saw a golden corner peeking out from under Hermione's pillow, "What is this?"
"A greeting card," said Hermione hastily, and started to hide it from them, but Ron was quicker than her, pulling out the card and reading it aloud.
"To Miss Granger, I hope you get well soon. Your teacher, Professor Gerald Lockhart, Third Class Order of Merlin, Honorary Member of the Dark Arts Defense League, and five-time winner of the Witcher Weekly Most Charming Smile Award."
Ron showed a look of disgust. "You actually put it under your pillow when you sleep?"
