HP Star Shining
Chapter 25
An hour later, they walked towards Flourish and Blotts.
There were far more people going to the bookstore than just them. There was a large crowd outside the store, all wanting to go in.
A large banner hung in an upstairs window proclaimed: "Gilderoy Lockhart Signing and Selling Copies of My Magical Autobiography."
"We can see him!" Hermione cried excitedly.
Seeing that Su Xingchen was not excited at all, Hermione tried to calm down, "I mean, almost all the books we want to buy are written by him."
Most of the people in the crowd were witches of Mrs. Weasley's age. A tired-looking wizard stood at the door. "Ladies, please be quiet... Don't push. Be careful with the books..."
"Xingchen, aren't you excited at all?" Hermione was puzzled. Lockhart was so handsome.
Su Xingchen shook his head. In fact, he felt a headache just thinking about having to spend a year with him.
A few people squeezed in through the crowd, and the winding line stretched all the way to the back of the bookstore, where Gerald Lockhart was signing books.
They each grabbed a copy of "The Break with the Ghost Girl" and sneaked over to where the Weasleys were lined up with the Grangers.
"Great, you're finally here." Mrs. Weasley breathed quickly and kept patting her hair. "We'll be able to see him soon..."
Su Xingchen didn't like queuing and didn't like Lockhart, but she was helpless because Hermione insisted on dragging her along.
Gradually they came into sight of Gerald Lockhart.
He sat behind a desk, surrounded by large photos of himself, each of which showed him winking at the crowd and flashing his dazzling white teeth.
The real Lockhart wore forget-me-not blue robes that matched his blue eyes, and a pointed wizard's hat was perched playfully on his wavy blond hair.
A short, grumpy man kept jumping left and right taking pictures.
"Get out of the way," he shouted at Ron. "This is for the Daily Prophet."
"That's amazing," Ron said sarcastically, rubbing his hurt foot.
Gerald Lockhart heard it, looked up, saw Ron, and then saw Harry.
He stared at Harry for a moment, then jumped up and shouted, "Isn't that Harry Potter?"
Su Xingchen hid behind Mrs. Weasley and saw Harry being dragged onto the stage by Lockhart to take photos, given a signed book, and then announced that he would be teaching at Hogwarts. Just as expected, he was chattering and very noisy.
Harry, clutching the entire Lockhart set of books, which weighed him down, staggered as he walked. He reached the wall where Ginny was standing before her new cauldron.
"These are for you." He poured the books into the crucible and said vaguely, "I'll buy some more myself..."
"You must like this, don't you, Potter?" A voice that he could not mistakenly hear called out, and he straightened up to be face to face with Draco Malfoy, who had his usual sarcastic smile on his face.
"The famous Harry Potter," Draco laughed. "Even entering a bookstore would make front-page news."
"Don't talk nonsense! He doesn't want that." Ginny glared at Draco. This was the first time she spoke in front of Harry.
"Potter, you got a girlfriend!" Draco drawled, and Ginny blushed.
"Long time no see, Draco. Did you have a good vacation?" When Su Xingchen came over, he saw the two of them arguing with each other.
Oh, no, three.
What a headache.
"Not bad. Are you here to buy books today too?" Draco's smile immediately became sincere when he saw Su Xingchen.
Harry watched Malfoy's mocking expression change to a genuine smile. He never knew a person's face could change so quickly.
"Yeah." Su Xingchen nodded. "What about you? What did you buy?"
"I bought some books for school and some fun stuff. Oh, and my dad is here too. I told him about you, and he really wants to meet you."
What's going on? Why is Mr. Malfoy meeting her?
Su Xingchen didn't know how to answer, but fortunately Ron and Hermione squeezed over at this time, both holding a stack of Lockhart's books in their hands.
"Oh, it's you." Ron looked at Malfoy, his disgust evident on his face. "You must be surprised to see Harry here?"
"I'm even more surprised to see you in the shop, Weasley," Draco retorted immediately. "I suppose your parents will have to go hungry for the next month to buy these books?"
Ron's face flushed red, and he threw the book into the cauldron. He was about to rush towards Draco, but Harry and Hermione pulled him back tightly.
"Ron." Mr. Weasley squeezed over with George and Fred. "What are you doing? It's too messy in here. Let's get out."
"Oh my, look who's here? Arthur Weasley." It was Mr. Malfoy, and he put a hand on Draco's shoulder.
Su Xingchen blinked her eyes, and... it was quite easy to recognize him. He looked very similar to Draco, especially the long light blond hair.
Harry thought the smile on Malfoy's father's face was exactly the same as when Malfoy looked at him.
"Lucius." Mr. Weasley nodded grimly.
"I hear you've been very busy," said Mr. Malfoy. "So many raids. I hope they've paid you overtime."
He reached into the cauldron and pulled out a tattered copy of "Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration" from among a pile of pristine Lockhart books.
"It seems not. What good is it to be a scum of the wizarding world if you don't even get a good reward?"
Mr. Weasley's face turned even redder than Ginny and Ron had just now.
"It seems we have very different ideas about what constitutes wizarding scum, Malfoy."
"Of course." Mr. Malfoy's light-colored eyes turned and fell on the Grangers who were looking at them nervously beside Mr. Weasley.
"Look at the friends you've made, Weasley... I thought your family had fallen as low as it could go."
"I don't think there's anything wrong with Mr. Weasley's friends."
A sweet and soft voice sounded, and Su Xingchen poked his head out from behind Mr. Weasley and walked in front of Lucius Malfoy.
"After all, I am also a friend of the Weasley family. Nice to meet you, Mr. Malfoy." Su Xingchen smiled sweetly and calmly stretched out a small hand as white as jade.
Mr. Malfoy narrowed his eyes and looked at the girl who seemed out of place with the Weasley family with scrutiny in his eyes.
"Xingchen!" Draco looked at her nervously.
"It's Miss Su. I often hear Draco mention you, saying that you two are very good friends." A dark light flashed in Mr. Malfoy's eyes. He quickly shook hands with Su Xingchen and immediately let go.
"Yes, Draco and I are also good friends." Su Xingchen kept smiling.
Lucius Malfoy hadn't taken her seriously at first, but after hearing his son mention the Sorting Hat's claim that she had pure blood, and since the Sorting Hat wouldn't lie, he wanted to meet her out of curiosity. Could there be a powerful family he didn't know about?
This time, I unexpectedly saw that the little girl's clothing and demeanor were unusual. She was not something that an ordinary family could bring up, at least not a family like the Weasleys. Even Draco could not compare to her. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she was the heir of a big family.
These thoughts flashed through his mind almost instantly, and Mr. Malfoy's smile became genuine.
Once again, Harry witnessed the speed at which the Malfoy family changed their attitude.
"I've always wanted to meet the friend Draco always mentioned, but I didn't expect it to happen under such hasty circumstances today."
Mr. Malfoy threw the book in his hand back into the crucible. "We have other things to do today, so I look forward to meeting Miss Su next time."
"I'm happy to do so." Su Xingchen said generously.
"Let's go, Draco." Mr. Malfoy turned and left the bookstore.
"Xingchen..." Draco looked at Su Xingchen uneasily.
"See you when school starts, Draco." Su Xingchen smiled with her eyes curved. The boy was a good guy and he even knew how to worry about her.
"See you at school." After hesitating for a moment, Draco finally followed Mr. Malfoy out.
After the two of them left, Su Xingchen breathed a sigh of relief. In fact, she was still a little nervous. But after all, she had lived in the presence of several powerful people in the Su family for ten years, so she could still handle such a small situation.
"How dare you! Oh my God! How dare you..." Mrs. Weasley rushed over and pulled her to look left and right, even picking up the hand she had shaken with Lucius to examine it. "He didn't do anything to you, did he?"
"Xingchen." Harry also squeezed over worriedly. He was holding Ron and didn't have time to stop her. "Are you okay?" Everyone gathered around.
"It's okay. Look, I'm fine." To prove it, Su Xingchen turned around again.
"I'm glad you're okay." Mrs. Weasley was still frightened. "Don't do this again next time. We don't need a child to take the blame."
"Okay, ma'am, I'm just a little angry that he said that. You guys are such nice people." Su Xingchen said in a coquettish tone.
Coaxing people? She is the best.
Sure enough, Mrs. Weasley hugged her tightly after hearing this, and kept sighing how she could have such a good child.
In fact, Su Xingchen was also there. Draco said that Mr. Malfoy wanted to see her, so he must be interested in her identity. Given his opportunistic nature, he would not do anything to her without figuring out her background.
The less fearful she appeared, the less courageous he became.
She was right.
"You're fine." Mr. Weasley looked at the girl being hugged by his wife, with more intimacy in his eyes than before.
"I think I'm pretty good too." Su Xingchen replied with a thick face and a smile, which made everyone laugh and completely dissolved the weird atmosphere.
Su Xingchen turned his head to glance at Ginny's cauldron. Voldemort's diary was inside, but he didn't know which one it was.
Back at the Leaky Cauldron, Harry and the Weasleys were going to use Floo powder to return to the Burrow. Su Xingchen accepted Hermione's invitation and stayed at her house for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Granger also liked this brave and beautiful girl.
Harry watched them wistfully as they walked down the other side of the street.
