Chapter 82 No Way Out

No Way Out

The tremors within the palace intensified, like a sleeping giant in its apocalyptic struggles. Dust filled the air, and the sound of cracking bricks echoed. Princess Shen stood in the center of the secret room, looking down at Jiang Shaozong's face, a calm glint in her eyes. Her plan had finally entered its final phase.

Jiang Shaozong's face was livid, his hands clenched tightly, clearly sensing the drastic change in his surroundings. No longer the ruler who navigated the power struggle with ease, he was suddenly thrust into a desperate situation. Princess Shen seemed to have everything under control, and he, her prisoner, was unable to escape.

"Do you think I'll let you succeed?" Jiang Shaozong's voice was low, with a barely concealed panic. "Princess Shen, you're bound to regret this!"

Princess Shen gently shook her head, her gaze still stern. She didn't answer him, but turned and walked to a corner of the secret room. There, piled with documents and secret reports she had collected from outside the palace. Each scroll represented a long-planned strategy and painstaking effort. These were precious pieces of information she had exhausted all means to obtain. Now, they would become the weapons of her final counterattack.

She reached out and picked up one of the secret reports, quickly skimming through them, a satisfied smile playing on her lips. She knew she had everything ready. Whether it was Jiang Shaozong or Prince Zhao, they were just pawns on the chessboard. The ultimate winner would definitely be her.

"You don't understand," Princess Shen said softly, her words tinged with coldness and sarcasm. "All of you don't understand. Power and profit are no longer important to me. What I pursue is power that transcends all else, unrivaled control."

Jiang Shaozong stared at her, a trace of anger and unwillingness flashing in his eyes. He clenched his teeth, as if unwilling to admit that he had fallen into Princess Shen's trap.

"Princess Shen, you're right," he finally whispered. "You've carefully planned everything from the very beginning. And I've always underestimated you. You've shown me how a woman can manipulate power and even control the entire situation."

Princess Shen paused, slowly turned, and looked at Jiang Shaozong. Her eyes were as sharp as a knife, with a hint of a smile. "You finally understand. You are smart, but you are too late."

"Do you think you can control all this?" Jiang Shaozong sneered, "There are so many people in the palace waiting for you to make a mistake. You simply can't control the entire situation."

Princess Shen's eyes flickered, and she sighed softly. "You're wrong, Jiang Shaozong. You think I'm fighting them, but in reality, I've ceased to be a part of them from the very beginning. Those so-called powerful people in the palace have long since become pawns in my hands."

Before she could finish her words, the door to the secret room suddenly slammed shut, and a dead silence fell all around. Almost instantly, all the guards and servants in the palace rushed over and surrounded the entire secret room.

"Princess Shen." Jiang Shaozong turned his head suddenly, his eyes filled with fear and doubt, "You...what are you doing?"

Princess Shen ignored him, her chin slightly raised, her gaze penetrating the walls of the chamber, as if she were gazing at the situation outside the palace. Her voice was filled with cold authority, "What's happening outside no longer matters. Even if you summon more people, they can't change your fate."

Just as he finished speaking, there was a burst of hurried footsteps outside, and then several black-clad guards rushed in. They were agile and steady, obviously masters who had undergone careful training.

"Princess, everything is ready." One of the black-clad guards reported in a low voice.

"Okay." Princess Shen nodded and smiled coldly. She knew that everything tonight was finally coming to an end.

Jiang Shaozong's expression completely changed, his eyes filled with disbelief and anger: "You...what exactly are you planning to do? Do you really think you can control everything? Aren't you afraid of death?"

Princess Shen slowly walked towards him, her steps light yet resolute, each one a stern blow to Jiang Shaozong's heart. "Death is no longer a threat to me," she said in a low, cold voice. "I've never feared death. The only thing that scares me is the failure of my plans."

Jiang Shaozong's pupils contracted sharply, and he suddenly realized that all his previous arrogance and confidence would vanish into thin air. A trace of despair flashed in his eyes: "What do you want to do? Do you think I'm going to sit there and wait for death?"

"You won't sit still and wait for death, but you can't stop me either." Princess Shen smiled coldly and turned to look at the black-clad guards standing behind her. "Go."

As soon as he finished speaking, several black-clad guards quickly stepped forward, their swords raised and fell, and Jiang Shaozong was instantly subdued, completely losing the ability to resist. His face was full of resentment and anger, but there was no room for resistance anymore.

Princess Shen stood before him, looking at him coldly. "Everything for you is over." Her voice was like a knife cutting through every bit of Jiang Shaozong's struggle.

"You...what exactly are you going to do?" Jiang Shaozong's voice was full of fear. He couldn't understand why Princess Shen could break all his plans so easily and even step on him without hesitation.

"I've already told you that you're just a pawn on my chessboard," Princess Shen said coldly. "And you, in the end, just allowed me to complete my plan. From now on, you will no longer be a threat to anyone."

Jiang Shaozong closed his eyes, his heart filled with unspeakable regret and pain. He finally realized that all his pride and confidence were just part of a carefully planned game by Princess Shen. Now, he finally knew his true identity - a prey that could not escape fate.

A trace of determination flashed in Princess Shen's eyes, and she said softly, "Jiang Shaozong, your ending is destined to fail."
