After the rebellion of Prince Jingkang of the capital, his entire clan was exterminated. Empress Liu Qian's subsequent purge of Prince Jingkang and other princes and nobles in the capital lasted for nearly a month, killing over 15,000 people and purging most of the old royal family in the capital. While the court was much cleaner, many problems arose at the local level. Although Empress Liu Qian was highly capable and her administration was relatively open, this purge of the old royal family resonated with the princes and nobles of the former Great Xia royal family. Fearing they would also be purged, they gathered in rebellion, and thus, a wave of rebellion spread across the country. Empress Liu Qian was left with no choice but to organize troops to quell the rebellion.

Liu Jie's unit served as the main support, while Xiao Mingyue served as the general commander, leading the Shenji Battalion to assist the other units. After the divisions were assigned, each unit set out on their own. Xiao Mingyue also took the opportunity to give Li Wanjun, Zhao Ning, Han Shuang, Lin Wanyi, and Zhao Rou her system mission prizes: invulnerable inner armor and gold silk soft armor, and had them wear them. Of course, she, Qi Xinyue, Liu Jie, Liu Xuan, and Liu Qian also had some.

After gathering in the capital, everyone led their troops to set off.
