Chapter 12: Reunion is like a dream, and the old relationship continues

Li Lingyuan, living in the modern world, was consumed by the pain of losing Xiao Yi every day. She often dreamed of returning to ancient times, to the days she and Xiao Yi spent in the valley. Each time she woke, she saw only an empty room, and the heartache nearly overwhelmed her. However, fate seemed not to have intended for them to part forever.

It was a stormy night. Li Lingyuan sat alone by the window, gazing out at the wind-ravaged world, her thoughts drifting away. Suddenly, a flash of lightning streaked across the night sky, followed by a roar of thunder. In that instant, the space around her began to distort, and Li Lingyuan felt a powerful force pulling her in. She subconsciously closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she found herself in a familiar ancient world, surrounded by the mountain and forest scenery she had once known so well.

Li Lingyuan looked at him worriedly, "Xiao Yi, I'll go with you. I'm worried about you."

Xiao Yi wanted to refuse, but seeing Li Lingyuan's determined eyes, he nodded. So they followed the palace guards back to the palace.

After returning to the palace, Xiao Yi found the atmosphere even more complex than he had imagined. The emperor's attitude towards him was also subtle, with a hint of relief and some caution. The emperor, believing the ministers' slander, became suspicious of Xiao Yi and ordered him to be detained pending further investigation. Li Lingyuan was extremely anxious, knowing that if Xiao Yi's innocence could not be proven quickly, his life might be in danger.

Li Lingyuan began searching for evidence that could prove Xiao Yi's innocence. She found some palace guards and maids who had witnessed the assassination and were willing to testify on Xiao Yi's behalf. She also found some written evidence that the minister was colluding with the assassin.
