Traveling through thousands of years, I only love you
Chapter 109 Finally Back to Modern Times
Xiao Yi lay in the chamber filled with the aura of death, his consciousness gradually fading. The flame of life was like a candle in the wind, ready to go out at any moment. However, just as he was about to be completely swallowed by the darkness, the mysterious power he had exchanged for his fate and life, in despair, erupted with one last stubborn wave.
Under the aftershock of this force, the portal of time and space slowly opened again. The scene behind the door was like a painting shrouded in mist, exuding an alluring yet dangerous aura. An instinctive urge surged from the depths of Xiao Yi's soul. Gathering his last ounce of strength, he dragged his shattered body towards the door. Every movement was accompanied by piercing pain, and his blood trailed a long trail on the ground, but there was no hesitation in his eyes.
When he finally crossed the threshold, he was instantly struck by a strong sense of dizziness, as if the whole world was spinning. Xiao Yi closed his eyes tightly, clenched his teeth, and endured the dual pain of body and soul. When the dizziness subsided slightly, he slowly opened his eyes, and what came into view was a completely unfamiliar world.
Skyscrapers towered like giant trees, reaching into the sky. Their glass facades shone brightly in the sunlight. Cars whizzed past on the wide roads like a torrent of steel, emitting a deafening roar. Shops lined the streets, displaying a dazzling array of novel goods. Xiao Yi stood up in a daze. His ancient, ornate attire seemed out of place in this modern world. He was oblivious to the strange looks from passersby. He had only one thought in mind: to find Li Lingyuan.
Xiao Yi wandered aimlessly down the street, trying to spot a familiar figure among the faces of the people around him. He weaved through the bustling crowd like a lost child, his eyes filled with anxiety and confusion. "Lingyuan, where are you?" he whispered softly, his voice instantly drowned out by the city's clamor.
He arrived at a bustling square, where a vast electronic screen flashed various images, while music and advertisements mingled. Xiao Yi was surrounded by the crowd, still frail and stumbling. Suddenly, he saw the back of a girl whose figure and posture bore a resemblance to Li Lingyuan. A surge of joy washed over Xiao Yi, and he desperately pushed through the crowd, rushing towards her.
"Ling Yuan!" he called out, his voice trembling. However, when the girl turned around, it was a strange face. She looked at Xiao Yi with confusion, her eyes full of puzzlement. Xiao Yi's heart sank instantly. He stood there blankly, his eyes full of loss.
He continued his search through the city, passing a coffee shop. The rich aroma of coffee filled the air, and couples sat by the windows, whispering sweetly. Xiao Yi peered through the window glass at the people inside, feeling a strange sense of melancholy. He recalled the days he and Li Lingyuan had spent enjoying tea and flowers in the Imperial Garden. Those beautiful times had now become the most painful memories for him.
Before he knew it, night had fallen, and the city was illuminated by a dazzling array of lights. Xiao Yi stood on an overpass, overlooking the bustling traffic and dazzling lights below. His body was exhausted, and his soul was in agony. He began to doubt whether, after exhausting everything he had to come to this modern world, he could truly find Li Lingyuan. But the love and longing in his heart made him unwilling to give up.
He walked into a quiet alley, trying to find a peaceful place to rest. The alley was lined with ancient houses, their walls covered in mottled moss. Xiao Yi slowly sat down against the wall. His body had reached its limit, and his consciousness began to blur. In his last moments before he passed out, Li Lingyuan's smile emerged in his mind. That smile was like a ray of light, illuminating his dark world.
When Xiao Yi woke up again, he found himself lying on a soft bed. He sat up cautiously, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. It was a warmly decorated room, with pale blue curtains fluttering gently in the wind. Sunlight filtered through the window, casting patches of light onto the floor.
"Are you awake?" a gentle voice came. Xiao Yi turned around and saw a young girl standing at the door. She was wearing a white dress, with long hair draped over her shoulders, and her eyes were full of concern.
"Who are you? Where is this?" Xiao Yi asked.
The girl walked into the room with a smile and said, "My name is Su Yao. Last night I passed by the alley and saw you fainted there, so I brought you back. Why are you there alone? You are dressed strangely, are you filming?"
Xiao Yi shook his head. He didn't know how to explain his identity and experience to the girl. He was silent for a moment and said, "I'm looking for someone who is very important to me."
Su Yao looked at Xiao Yi, and seemed to feel the deep affection and persistence in his eyes. She said, "Can you tell me who she is? Maybe I can help you."
A glimmer of hope flashed in Xiao Yi's eyes, and he said, "Her name is Li Lingyuan. Do you know her?"
Su Yao frowned and thought for a moment before saying, "Li Lingyuan? This name seems a little familiar, but I can't remember where I heard it. Can you tell me what she looks like?"
Li Lingyuan's face appeared in Xiao Yi's mind, and he said slowly: "She is very beautiful, with big eyes and two dimples when she smiles. She has a gentle personality, but sometimes she can be very strong."
Su Yao listened to Xiao Yi's description, and she felt inexplicably moved. She said, "You must love her very much. I will help you find her."
Xiao Yi looked at Su Yao gratefully and said, "Thank you."
With Su Yao's help, Xiao Yi began a wider search for Li Lingyuan in the city. They went to the police station and checked the population information, but found no clues about Li Lingyuan. They also posted missing person notices on various social media platforms, hoping to get some information. However, day after day, there was still no news of Li Lingyuan.
Xiao Yi's heart grew increasingly anxious, and his health deteriorated from overwork and inner pain. He often sat alone by the window at night, gazing at the stars and thinking of Li Lingyuan. He couldn't understand why he had paid such a huge price to come to this modern world, but still couldn't find her.
Su Yao felt very distressed when she saw Xiao Yi's increasingly haggard appearance. She tried to comfort Xiao Yi, but she knew that only by finding Li Lingyuan could she really cheer him up.
One day, Su Yao suddenly came up with an idea. She said to Xiao Yi, "I have a friend who is a TV reporter. We can ask him for help and broadcast the missing person notice on TV. Maybe more people will see it this way."
A glimmer of hope rekindled in Xiao Yi's eyes, and he said, "Really? Thank you for your help."
Su Yao immediately contacted her friends, and reporters from the TV station soon came to where they lived. After learning about Xiao Yi and Li Lingyuan's situation, they decided to produce a special missing person program for them.
After the show aired, it attracted widespread attention from the public. Many enthusiastic viewers called in and provided various clues. Xiao Yi and Su Yao were busy answering calls every day to verify the clues, but each time they returned disappointed.
As time went by, Xiao Yi's body was on the verge of collapse. His vitality had already been severely overdrawn when he traveled through time, and coupled with the fatigue of the modern world and the inner torment, his life could end at any time. Su Yao was extremely worried. She took Xiao Yi to the hospital, but the doctors were unable to help.
"You must rest well, otherwise your body won't be able to hold on." Su Yao said to Xiao Yi with tears in her eyes.
Xiao Yi shook his head and said, "I can't rest. I must find Ling Yuan."
In this strange modern world full of hope and despair, Xiao Yi is still persistently looking for Li Lingyuan. His love story continues to be written in this era, but no one knows what the final ending will be.
