Rise of the Otherworld.
Chapter 956: Difficult Confrontation
Under the torrential rain of spells, the statue erupted in countless dazzling sparks, resembling a dazzling display of fireworks in the night sky. The mysterious man unleashed fireballs, like miniature suns, scorching with heat and immense force as they struck the statue, instantly exploding into a blazing mass of flame. However, this seemingly formidable attack merely caused the statue to stagger. Soon, it once again locked onto the crowd, charging fiercely. Each swing of his pillar-like sword unleashed a gust of wind, its sharp blade slicing painfully across the faces, threatening to rip their skin.
Ling Yu seized the moment the statue attacked Zhang Hao and leaped high like a flash of black lightning. The dagger he clutched gleamed coldly in the dim hall, like the scythe of death, as he thrust it fiercely into the statue's back. With a resounding clang, the dagger collided violently with the statue's solid body, leaving only a shallow mark. The immense recoil of the dagger traveled through Ling Yu's arm, numbing it and making it nearly impossible to hold the weapon. The statue, as if sensing the attack from behind, reacted with remarkable swiftness. Its massive body twisted in an instant, and then, with a swift kick, it launched itself at Ling Yu. Ling Yu was unable to dodge, and the kick struck him squarely in the abdomen. Ling Yu felt a surge of overwhelming force, and like a cannonball, he flew outward like a kite with its string cut, landing heavily on the ground. Blood gushed uncontrollably from his mouth, splashing a crimson splatter on the ground.
"Lingyu!" The woman exclaimed in surprise at the sight, her eyes filled with worry and anxiety. She hastily channeled a portion of her spiritual energy, dancing her hands rapidly while muttering to herself. A gentle light emanated from her palms, forming a warm and healing force that surged toward Lingyu. This force, like a spring breeze, gently caressed Lingyu's injured body, healing him. Meanwhile, she continued her assault on the statue, directing the crystal-clear ice shards towards its legs, attempting to restrict its movement and prevent its massive form from moving freely.
The old man's staff glowed brighter and brighter. Thick bolts of lightning shot out from its tip like dragons, entwining the statue with a deafening roar. The lightning flashed with a blue light and crackled, seemingly scorching every inch of the statue's flesh. However, the statue seemed to possess a unique resistance to lightning. While the lightning slowed its movements slightly, it did not cause any substantial, fatal damage. It continued its attack like a tireless war machine, relentlessly charging at the crowd.
Zhang Hao nimbly dodged the statue's torrent of attacks while rapidly formulating countermeasures. He knew that if they continued their haphazard attacks, the mighty statue would eventually exhaust their strength and put them in a desperate situation. Suddenly, he keenly noticed that each time the statue launched an attack, there was a brief pause where its arm joined its body, as if it were a tiny crack in its iron-clad defenses, a rare flaw.
"Everyone listen to me, the place where the statue's arms connect to the body may be the weak point. Let's concentrate our attack there!" Zhang Hao shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing in the empty and dangerous hall.
Upon hearing this, the mysterious man immediately understood and quickly redirected his spell. He formed hand seals in the air, muttering something to himself. The scattered fireballs instantly coalesced into a flaming spear several feet long. This spear burned with a raging fire, emitting a blazing heat that threatened to ignite the surrounding air. With a sudden wave of his hand, the flaming spear shot like a meteor, whistling towards the connection between the statue's arm and body. Instantly, the flaming spear accurately struck its target, completely engulfed in flames, and a sizzling sound, like the sound of metal being roasted under high temperature, was heard.
Ling Yu's injuries improved slightly under the woman's healing spell. He endured the sharp pain in his abdomen and gritted his teeth as he charged toward the statue again. This time, he and Zhang Hao worked in perfect harmony. With his nimble movements, Zhang Hao repeatedly weaved in front of the statue, distracting it. The statue's gaze followed Zhang Hao intently, its sword in hand like a streak of black lightning, slashing at him repeatedly. Ling Yu, seizing the moment between the statue's attacks, leaped high again, infusing his dagger with all his spiritual power and stabbing it hard at the joint of the statue's arm. This time, the dagger penetrated deeper, and the statue let out a deep, angry roar, as if to declare its unyielding spirit. As the dagger penetrated, the statue's arm's movements noticeably slowed, disrupting its rhythm.
The woman and the old man cooperated fully. The woman manipulated the ice shards, rapidly forming a solid wall around the statue. The wall, crystal clear and emitting a chilling aura, confined the statue's movement to a narrow area. The old man increased his lightning output. He gripped his staff tightly with both hands, muttering something to himself. Bolts of lightning, thicker and stronger, continuously erupted from the tip of his staff like pillars supporting the heavens, crashing heavily into the statue's arm. Each bolt of lightning was accompanied by a dazzling flash of light and a deafening roar.
Under the combined force of the crowd, the damage to the statue's arm worsened. The once sturdy arm was now riddled with holes and cracks. Finally, after a violent jolt, the statue's arm could no longer withstand the onslaught. With a "crack," it broke like a rotten branch and fell to the ground with a resounding, dull thud, like the statue's final sigh.
The statue, having lost an arm, disrupted its attack rhythm, but it seemed to become even more enraged, like a wounded beast, waving its remaining arm even more frantically. Each attack carried a powerful force like a tidal wave, tearing the air apart wherever it passed, making everyone afraid to approach easily.
"Everyone, be careful! It's even more dangerous now!" Zhang Hao shouted, staring at the statue with a vigilant gaze. He spread his legs slightly apart and crouched down, ready to respond to the statue's next attack at any moment, searching for the perfect opportunity to launch another attack...
