Rise of the Otherworld.
Chapter 928 Cave Exploration (5)
The cave was pitch black, its thick darkness seemingly engulfing everything. Everyone felt as if they were trapped in an endless abyss, and fear, like an invisible tentacle, crept into everyone's heart. They dared not act rashly, and could only pause briefly, trying to adjust their eyes to the suffocating darkness. Zhang Hao pulled a night-shining pearl from his bosom. This pearl, like a spirit in the darkness, its faint light instantly illuminated a small area around it. In this dim light, they discovered that the cave walls were covered with strange symbols and patterns. These symbols and patterns, like mysterious codes left behind by time, appeared to be ancient, exuding a mysterious and ancient aura, as if telling a forgotten story.
"These symbols seem to convey something." The mysterious man leaned close to the wall, his eyes fixed on them, as if trying to see through them. His gaze revealed a glint of concentration and curiosity as he examined them carefully. However, no one could decipher the symbols' meaning. They seemed like words from another world, baffling. Helplessly, they could only put it aside for the time being and deal with the situation at hand.
They advanced cautiously through the cavern. The ground beneath their feet was uneven, like dough haphazardly kneaded by time, dotted with protruding rocks and sunken potholes. Every step was fraught with uncertainty, forcing everyone to be extremely vigilant and pay close attention to their steps. Suddenly, Zhang Hao, walking ahead, felt a slight tremor. At first, it was imperceptible, like a breeze across the lake, but then it grew stronger, as if an earthquake were approaching. At the same time, a low roar rose from the depths of the cavern, a roar like the roar of hell, as if some great beast were awakening, shattering the long-standing silence of the cavern.
"Oh no! There's danger!" Zhang Hao shouted softly. Though his voice wasn't loud, it resounded like a bell in the silent cave, instantly setting everyone on edge. Everyone immediately became alert, gripping their weapons or preparing to cast spells. Their eyes were filled with vigilance and fear as they stared intently at the direction of the sound in the darkness. As the roar grew closer, a massive figure gradually emerged from the darkness. It was a monster resembling a bear, but with multiple tentacles. Its body was as massive as a mountain, like a moving hillock. Its eyes flashed with an eerie red light, like a burning flame, staring at everyone intently, as if examining its prey.
"What kind of monster is this?" the woman cried in horror, her voice trembling like a leaf swaying in the cold wind. Her face turned pale as paper, her body trembling slightly, and fear washed over her like a tide.
"No matter what it is, let's find a way to deal with it first." Lingyu said, with a flash of determination in his eyes. Like a brave cheetah, he rushed towards the monster first. He brandished a dagger, which flashed a cold light under the illumination of the night pearl, trying to attack the monster's vitals. Seeing someone approaching, the monster let out an angry roar, like a landslide. It swung a tentacle towards Lingyu. The tentacle was extremely fast, passing through the air like lightning. Lingyu dodged sideways, but was still touched by the tentacle on his arm. A sharp pain came, as if a hot iron was scratching his arm. A deep wound appeared on his arm, and blood instantly dyed his sleeve red.
Seeing this, the mysterious man quickly formed seals with his hands and muttered something. An icy blue light flashed, like the arrival of a bitter winter. Countless sharp ice spikes shot towards the monster, like arrows from a bow, carrying a biting chill. The monster's tentacles danced swiftly, like nimble snakes, deflecting most of the spikes. However, a few still pierced its body, and green blood flowed from the wounds, emitting a pungent smell.
Zhang Hao joined the fray, channeling his spiritual energy into his longsword. It shone brightly, like the sun rising in the cave. He seized the opportunity and, like an eagle spreading its wings, struck the monster's head. The monster, sensing danger, tilted its body slightly, dodging the fatal blow. However, the longsword still left a wound on its shoulder, sending green blood splattering.
The old man cast a supporting spell nearby, his hands gleaming with a soft light, like twinkling stars in the night sky. He empowered the others, making their attacks more powerful, while also keeping an eye on their surroundings, alert for any danger. A hint of worry lingered in his eyes, as he kept a constant eye on the battlefield.
The woman wasn't idle either. She concentrated her mind, focusing all her energy on casting a spell. Her eyes grew hazy, and she muttered something. A soft light shot towards the monster, attempting to disrupt its movements. However, the creature seemed somewhat resistant to the spell, pausing only briefly before resuming its attack. Its eyes were filled with rage and murderous intent, as if it wanted to tear them to pieces.
Under the combined attack of everyone, the monster, though wounded, intensified its attacks. Its tentacles swung like branches in a gale, each strike carrying immense force. The cave's cramped space limited everyone's maneuverability, forcing them into a bitter struggle. Their figures, shimmering in the light of the night pearl, seemed insignificant, yet resolute. Worse still, the sounds of the earlier battle echoed through the cave, potentially attracting the attention of the mysterious figures outside. If they arrived, they would be attacked from both sides, placing them in even greater danger...
