Rise of the Otherworld.
Chapter 861: In-depth Exploration and Difficult Decisions
After hearing the old man's explanation, everyone felt a renewed spark of hope. They decided to continue exploring the cave, searching for clues that might hold the key to leaving the ruins.
Zhang Hao walked at the front of the group, sword held at a constant alert. His gaze was firm and sharp, and each step was cautious. The blade of his sword reflected the faint light in the cave, like a ray of dawn in the darkness. The woman followed closely behind, holding the little girl's hand, her eyes constantly scanning the surroundings. Her face was filled with tension and worry, but for the little girl's safety, she tried to remain calm. The little girl clung to her side, her small hands clinging to the edge of her clothes, her eyes filled with fear of the unknown.
Lingyu and the mysterious man stood on either side, keeping an eye out for any potential anomalies. Lingyu clutched several talismans, ready to respond to any emergency. The mysterious man, holding his dagger in reverse, moved with light and agile steps.
The fog thickened deeper into the cave, and every step forward felt like stepping into an unknown abyss. The ground beneath their feet also became increasingly rugged, covered with sharp rocks and potholes of varying depths. They were forced to move forward cautiously, each step feeling like treading on thin ice.
"Everyone, be careful. The atmosphere here is getting increasingly eerie," Zhang Hao whispered. His voice was exceptionally clear in the silent cave, carrying an undeniable authority.
Just then, they came to a fork in the road. One passageway was filled with a green glow, a light that flickered like an eerie eye, sending chills down their spines. The other was pitch black and silent, like a gaping maw waiting to devour everything.
"Which way should we go?" the woman asked hesitantly. She looked at the two completely different passages, feeling confused and uneasy.
The old man pondered for a moment, "From the current situation, it is difficult to judge which road is safer." His brows were furrowed, and his eyes moved back and forth between the two passages, trying to find some clues.
Ling Yu looked at the passage emitting a faint light and said, "This light makes people feel uncomfortable. Maybe there is danger hidden in it." There was a hint of vigilance in his voice, and he clenched the talisman in his hand tighter.
The mysterious man pointed to the dark passage and said, "Maybe what we are looking for is in the darkness." His eyes were firm, as if he had some special intuition about the dark passage.
Everyone was caught in a dilemma. The little girl tightly grasped the woman's hand, her eyes filled with fear. "Sister, I'm scared." Her voice was filled with tears, which made people feel distressed.
Zhang Hao took a deep breath and said, "We can't stay here too long. I think we should try the green light channel first." His voice was decisive and resolute, as if he was ready to face any danger.
Although some people still had doubts in their hearts, under Zhang Hao's decision, everyone walked into the passage filled with dim light.
As soon as I entered the passage, a pungent odor hit me, a mixture of rotting plants and animal carcasses, leaving me dizzy. A strange liquid dripped from the walls, making a "tick-tick" sound. As the liquid fell to the ground, puffs of green smoke rose, and small pits were corroded.
"Everyone, cover your mouth and nose. Be careful with this liquid," Zhang Hao warned. He covered his mouth and nose with his sleeves and quickened his pace.
As they walked, a huge pit appeared in front of them. The pit was filled with green smoke, and the bottom was unclear. The smoke continued to rise, as if it had life, spreading towards everyone.
"How do we get through this?" Ling Yu frowned and looked at the deep pit, feeling worried.
Just as everyone was contemplating a countermeasure, a low roar rose from the smoke. It sounded as if it came from the depths of hell, filled with endless rage and fury. Everyone's faces instantly turned pale, and their heartbeats accelerated dramatically.
"Prepare for battle!" Zhang Hao shouted. He gripped his sword tightly, leaned forward slightly, and prepared to strike at any moment.
The woman shielded the little girl behind her, her magic wand gleaming. Lingyu cast several talismans, forming a protective circle in the air. The mysterious man stared intently at the smoke, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
As the roaring sound got closer, a huge figure gradually emerged from the smoke...
