Rise of the Otherworld.
Chapter 821: Dilemma of Crossing the River
Looking at the turbulent river before them, everyone looked at each other in bewilderment, the glimmer of hope that had just risen in their hearts instantly extinguished. The river roared and roared, the waves splashing, like an angry dragon, ready to devour everything at any time.
"The river is flowing so fast, how can we get across?" the little girl cried. Her eyes were full of fear and helplessness, and her small body was shaking.
Zhang Hao squatted down, touched the little girl's head, and comforted her: "Don't be afraid, we will find a solution together." His voice was gentle and firm, trying to give the little girl some sense of security.
The old man looked at the river, thought for a moment and said, "Maybe we can find some trees and make a simple raft." His eyes revealed a hint of thought. Although his face was full of fatigue, he was still trying to find a solution to the problem.
The group agreed the idea was feasible and began searching for suitable trees nearby. They trudged through the muddy ground, each step leaving deep footprints. Zhang Hao and the mysterious man lashed their swords with all their might against the thick tree trunks, sweat pouring down their faces. The woman and Ling Yu helped clear the branches, their hands lacerated by the branches, their sleeves stained red with blood, but they never stopped.
The old man and the little girl gathered vines to tie the raft together. The little girl also tried her best to help. Although her strength was insignificant, her serious expression was touching.
With everyone's joint efforts, the raft gradually took shape. However, when they pushed the raft to the riverbank, they found that the impact of the river water was far beyond their imagination. The raft was shaken by the current and seemed to be washed away at any time.
"If this continues, the raft will be washed away as soon as it hits the water," Ling Yu said worriedly. Her brows were furrowed, and her eyes were filled with anxiety.
"We need to find some heavy objects to fix to the bottom of the raft to increase its weight," Zhang Hao said. His eyes were determined, and his brain was working rapidly, thinking of a countermeasure.
So, everyone started looking for something heavy. The herbalist found several huge rocks not far away and called out to everyone excitedly. Everyone worked together to move the rocks onto the raft. Each rock was so heavy that it almost drained their energy.
We tried to lower the raft into the river again, and it seemed to be in better condition, but still unstable. The raft swayed in the water like a fallen leaf.
"There's no other way. We can only take a risk." Zhang Hao gritted his teeth and said. His eyes revealed determination. He knew it was a dangerous gamble, but they had no other choice.
Everyone carefully boarded the raft. Zhang Hao and the mysterious man stood at the front of the raft, using their swords to support the riverbank, trying to control the raft's direction. Their arm muscles were tense and veins bulged.
As soon as the raft hit the water, it was rocked from side to side by the current. The woman hugged the little girl tightly, shielding her from the splashing water with her body. Lingyu and the old man clung to the edge of the raft, their faces as pale as paper.
"Everyone, hold on!" Zhang Hao shouted. His voice was a little weak amid the roar of the river, but it was full of power.
The river pounded against the raft, making a loud noise. A wave hit, and the raft nearly capsized. The water surged onto the raft, soaking everyone's shoes and trouser legs.
At this critical moment, Zhang Hao discovered a huge reef in the middle of the river. If he hit it, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Everyone, pull hard and avoid that reef!" Zhang Hao paddled with his sword desperately. His arms ached from the excessive force, but he didn't dare to relax even a little.
Everyone exerted all their strength and finally avoided the reef at the critical moment. However, before they could breathe a sigh of relief, another bigger wave rushed towards the raft. The wave was as high as a mountain and had the momentum to destroy everything.
"Hold on tight!" Zhang Hao shouted.
Everyone's heart was in their throat. They held on to the raft tightly, waiting for the judgment of fate.
The waves hit the raft hard, causing it to tremble violently. The woman screamed, and the little girl closed her eyes in fear.
Fortunately, the raft did not fall apart after the impact. Everyone struggled desperately in the water, trying to keep their balance.
"Keep moving forward!" Zhang Hao shouted.
They struggled forward in the river, fighting a desperate battle with the turbulent water...
