Rise of the Otherworld.
Chapter 788 Light of Hope (7)
Zhang Hao and the mysterious man supported each other as they emerged from the cave. The sun glared blindingly. After a moment's adjustment, they gazed upon the scene before them, a wave of emotion welling up in their hearts. In the distance, rolling green hills, shaded by verdant trees, drifted by a gentle breeze, bringing with them the fragrance of flowers and plants. Compared to the dark and damp cave behind them, this place seemed like another world, brimming with life and hope.
"We're finally out." Zhang Hao breathed a sigh of relief, his voice filled with relief at having survived. His face was as pale as paper, and the wounds on his body still ached, but the warmth of the sun on his face made him forget the pain for a moment.
The mysterious man nodded. "But we can't let our guard down. We have to find a safe place as soon as possible." His voice was just as weak, but his eyes were still scanning the surroundings vigilantly.
The two men, exhausted, continued on their journey. Along the way, Zhang Hao's mind wandered, recalling his experiences over the past few days with mixed emotions. From being hunted by men in black, to escaping through secret passages, to the desperate battles with monsters, every moment felt like a nightmare. But they never gave up, relying on their tenacious will and desire to survive, they repeatedly struggled out of desperate situations.
The woman and others were waiting for them not far ahead. When they saw them return safely, they all showed happy smiles on their faces.
"Great, you're all right!" The woman ran over, her eyes full of concern. Her gaze lingered on the wound on Zhang Hao's body for a moment, her brows slightly furrowed, her heart filled with heartache.
The little girl also ran over, jumping and skipping, "Uncles are so great!" Her face was filled with an innocent smile, as if all the dangers had never happened.
The old man smiled, his eyes gleaming with relief. "It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back," he muttered to himself, a huge weight lifted from his heart.
The herbalist looked at Zhang Hao and the mysterious man in awe. "If it weren't for you, we would all be..." His voice was filled with gratitude and admiration.
"We can't stay here any longer. Let's leave quickly," Zhang Hao said. Although he was extremely exhausted, he knew that danger could strike again at any time.
Everyone nodded and continued on their journey to the unknown, their steps heavy and slow, but each step was filled with firm conviction.
After walking for a while, they discovered a quiet valley. A stream gurgled, crystal clear, and fish swam happily in the water. Birds sang cheerfully in the branches, and colorful flowers competed for beauty, emitting waves of enchanting fragrance. It felt like a paradise, refreshing and delightful.
"Let's rest here for a while," the old man suggested. There was a hint of fatigue in his voice, and sweat trickled down his forehead.
Everyone found a flat surface to sit down and begin tending to their wounds and recovering their strength. The woman removed some herbs from a package and bandaged the wounds of Zhang Hao and the mysterious man. Her movements were gentle and meticulous, as if she were handling the most precious treasure.
Zhang Hao leaned against a large tree, closed his eyes, and felt the breeze. The breeze brushed against his face, bringing a hint of coolness that gradually relaxed his tense nerves. His breathing gradually became steady, and he fell into a state of half-sleep and half-wakefulness.
"What should we do next?" the woman asked. Her voice broke the brief silence and brought everyone's thoughts back to reality.
Zhang Hao opened his eyes and said, "Let me heal my wounds first, and then make plans." His eyes were firm and calm. After going through so many hardships, he has learned to stay calm in difficult situations.
The mysterious man gazed into the distance, lost in thought. "This place may be safe for now, but we can't hide here forever. Those men in black won't give up. We must find a way to get rid of them once and for all." His voice was deep and magnetic, compelling his conviction.
Just then, a sudden bird song echoed from the sky. Everyone looked up and saw a large white bird flying toward them. Its feathers were as white as snow, and its wings were broad and powerful, gleaming brightly in the sunlight. Its eyes were sharp and majestic, making it difficult to look directly at them.
"What kind of bird is this?" the little girl asked curiously.
Zhang Hao frowned, feeling a sense of unease. The bird's sudden appearance gave him a bad feeling.
The bird circled over their heads for a few times, then slowly landed on a rock not far away, looking at them quietly, as if conveying some message.
"Is this some kind of omen?" the old man muttered to himself.
Everyone looked at each other, their hearts filled with doubts and worries...
