Chapter 564 The Mysterious Stone Chamber
After escaping the bats, the group continued their journey through this passage, fraught with unknown dangers. The atmosphere grew increasingly eerie, the silence unsettling. The air in the passage seemed to freeze, and with every step, an invisible pressure was palpable.
As they walked, they came to a spacious stone chamber. The walls were inlaid with gemstones that emitted a faint glow, making the entire room somewhat hazy. The light from the gemstones flickered, sometimes brighter and sometimes darker, adding a touch of mystery to the stone chamber.
"This place looks a little unusual," Zhang Hao said cautiously, gripping his sword even tighter. He scanned the stone chamber, not wanting to be careless.
The man in black robe looked around carefully: "Everyone be careful, there might be some trap." His voice was very low, as if he was afraid of disturbing something sleeping.
The herbalist unconsciously approached the old man, his eyes filled with nervousness. His hands were tightly clutching the corners of his clothes, and his body was trembling slightly.
At this moment, the ground suddenly shook slightly, and a stone door slowly opened on one side of the stone chamber, and a cold breath rushed out. The breath was like a cold winter wind, instantly giving everyone goose bumps.
"What is this?" The herbalist shuddered, his voice filled with fear and confusion.
Zhang Hao cautiously walked toward the stone door and peered inside. Inside lay a massive stone coffin, its lid covered in strange runes. Those runes shimmered faintly, as if telling ancient secrets.
"Could this be..." The old man's voice trembled. His eyes were fixed on the sarcophagus, and a solemn expression appeared on his face.
Before anyone could react, the sarcophagus suddenly shook violently, as if something was about to burst out of it. The sarcophagus made a creaking sound that was terrifying.
"Not good, everyone retreat!" Zhang Hao shouted. His voice echoed in the stone chamber, filled with anxiety and tension.
Everyone stepped back, staring at the sarcophagus nervously, their heartbeats racing and their breathing becoming rapid.
With a loud bang, the lid of the sarcophagus was lifted open by a powerful force, and a dark shadow flew out from inside. The shadow was like a ball of thick ink, and its specific shape could not be seen clearly.
"What kind of monster is this!" the black-robed man exclaimed, his voice shrill with fear.
The black figure was enormous, its face unclear, and it exuded a powerful evil aura. That aura was like an invisible pressure, making it difficult for everyone to breathe.
Zhang Hao rushed forward without hesitation, engaging the shadow. His sword slashed across the shadow, but it felt like it was striking solid rock, causing no damage. But he didn't retreat. Instead, he became even more daring, constantly searching for the shadow's flaws.
The black-robed man also joined the battle, casting various spells, trying to attack the shadow's weaknesses. Rays of light shot out from his hands, illuminating the dark corners.
The old man continued to cast protective spells on them while observing the shadow's movements, searching for any flaws. Beads of sweat covered his forehead, but his gaze remained resolute.
The herbalist was searching for something useful, ready to provide support at any time. His eyes were darting around, his heart burning with anxiety.
After a fierce battle, the black shadow gradually showed signs of fatigue. Its movements became slower and its attacks were no longer as fierce.
Zhang Hao seized the opportunity and stabbed the shadow's vitals with his sword. At that moment, the shadow let out a scream, the sound was so sharp and piercing that it hurt people's eardrums.
The shadow vanished in a puff of smoke, leaving a pungent smell in the air that made people feel nauseous.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and began to carefully examine the stone chamber. Their bodies trembled slightly from exhaustion, but their eyes were still full of vigilance.
Next to the sarcophagus, they found a yellowed scroll, the paper of which was so fragile that it seemed as if it would break at the slightest touch.
"This may be the key to solving the mystery here," the old man said, with a hint of anticipation in his voice.
Just as they were about to study the scroll, the stone chamber began to change again. The light from the gemstones on the walls suddenly grew stronger, blinding them. The ground began to shake violently, as if to swallow them whole.
"Oh no, something happened again!" Zhang Hao shouted.
A wave of tension and fear surged in everyone's hearts again...
