Rise of the Otherworld.

Chapter 543 Crisis in the Forest (2)

As he slept, an eerie wind blew quietly, causing the campfire to flicker. Zhang Hao's eyes snapped open, a sharp sense of something amiss in the surrounding atmosphere. The wind rustled with a dangerous aura that sent a chill down his spine.

He rose quietly, making as little noise as possible, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily. The others were still asleep, unaware of the impending danger. Zhang Hao's breathing slowed, and every movement was cautious, fearing to alert the unknown threat lurking in the darkness.

Suddenly, the sound of a branch snapping echoed nearby, remarkably clear in the still night. Like a heavy hammer, it struck Zhang Hao's heart. Zhang Hao tightened his grip on the sword, his heartbeat accelerating. He could feel his palms sweating slightly, but he tried to remain calm.

A massive shadow wolf slowly emerged from the darkness, its eyes gleaming with a faint green light, its fangs glinting coldly in the moonlight. Its sinister gaze fixed intently on Zhang Hao and the others, as if scrutinizing its soon-to-be-caught prey.

Zhang Hao took a deep breath and prepared for battle. However, this shadow wolf was only the vanguard. With its appearance, more shadow wolves surrounded him from all directions. Their figures loomed in the darkness, and the low growls that rose and fell were terrifying.

Zhang Hao acted decisively and shouted, "Wake up, there is danger!" His voice broke the tranquility of the night, full of urgency and tension.

Everyone was awakened by his shouting, and immediately lost all sleepiness, and picked up their weapons in a panic. Their eyes were filled with fear and panic, but after seeing Zhang Hao's determined eyes, they gradually calmed down.

"Everyone, calm down and form a circle!" Zhang Hao commanded. His voice was decisive and powerful, giving everyone a sense of security.

The black-robed man roared and charged at the wolves, his weapon whirring loudly as he swung it. His face was filled with rage and determination, and he used all his strength in every blow.

The herbalist hid among the crowd, nervously observing the situation. He clutched a handful of herbs, ready to heal everyone at the critical moment.

The old man continued to cast spells to provide support. His staff shone with light, and spells shot out at the wolves, temporarily slowing their attack.

The shadow wolves launched a fierce attack, their movements were agile and coordinated, some wolves pounced from the front, while others attacked from the side, making it difficult to defend against them.

Zhang Hao fought hard, each strike carrying a killing blow. His sword streaked through the air, each strike finding its mark with pinpoint accuracy. But the wolves were too numerous, and they gradually found themselves in a difficult situation.

"This isn't going to work!" Zhang Hao fretted. His forehead was covered in sweat, and his breathing became rapid.

At this moment, he discovered the leader of the wolf pack, a larger shadow wolf, standing in the distance directing the actions of the other wolves. The leader's eyes were more ferocious and his hair was thicker.

"Attack the leader!" Zhang Hao shouted, his voice filled with hope and determination.

Everyone gathered their strength and rushed towards the leader. They advanced with difficulty among the wolves, and every step was full of danger.

In the fierce battle, Zhang Hao and his team were constantly injured. The black-robed man's arm was scratched by a wolf's claws, and blood flowed out; the old man's magic became weak due to excessive spiritual power consumption; the herbalist accidentally fell while dodging the attack and was almost bitten by the wolf.

But they did not retreat and approached the leader step by step.

Finally, Zhang Hao stabbed the leader in the vitals with his sword, and the leader fell to the ground with a shrill scream. The other Shadow Wolves immediately lost their composure and their attacks became less fierce.

They took the opportunity to launch a counterattack and repelled the wolves.

The battle had left them exhausted and covered in wounds, each of them breathing heavily as if they had just walked through hell.

"Treat your wound first and take a rest," Zhang Hao said. His voice was a little tired, but still firm.

Everyone sat down and began to treat their wounds. The herbalist took out precious herbs and applied them to everyone.

The man in black robe panted and said, "These beasts are really powerful!"

The old man also sighed: "If it weren't for everyone working together, I'm afraid it would be very dangerous."

Zhang Hao stared into the distance, his mind racing. Their journey was still long, and he didn't know what dangers they would encounter.

Just as they were resting, some subtle noises were heard from the surrounding woods.

"Everyone be careful, there might be something else going on!" Zhang Hao became alert again...
