Chapter 480 The Mystery of the Camp

Under the escort of soldiers, Zhang Hao and his companions followed the woman to the camp. Tents stood in a forest, military flags fluttered, and security was tight. Sunlight cast long shadows across the tents, and the patrolling soldiers marched in measured steps, their expressions solemn, creating a tense atmosphere.

After entering the camp, the woman led them to a large tent. "Wait here," she said, then turned and went inside. She disappeared behind the curtain, leaving Zhang Hao and the others standing outside, feeling uneasy. A gentle breeze blew past, ruffling their disheveled clothes and stirring their tense thoughts.

After a while, the woman came out and said, "Come in." Her voice was still clear, but with a subtle softness.

When they entered the tent, they saw a general-looking man sitting at a desk. The general was tall and strong, with a resolute face and a pair of bright eyes, revealing the majesty and courage of a veteran of many battles.

"General, that's them," the woman said. She stood beside the general, her eyes fixed on Zhang Hao and the others with a certain scrutiny.

The general raised his head, his eyes sharp as torches. "You said you were investigating the matter of the monster seal. Do you have any evidence?" His voice was low and powerful, as if it could penetrate the human soul.

Zhang Hao took out the black token he got in the cave and said, "We found this in a mysterious cave." He held the token steadily in his hand, and the token emitted a mysterious glow under the light.

The general took the token, looked at it carefully, and his expression became solemn. "This token is indeed related to the seal of the monster, but this matter is extremely complicated and beyond your imagination." His fingers gently stroked the patterns on the token and he fell into deep thought.

The herbalist couldn't help but ask, "General, what's going on?" His voice was full of anxiety and curiosity, and his eyes were fixed on the general.

The general was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "In recent days, monsters have been appearing one after another. We suspect that someone is secretly destroying the seal, attempting to release more monsters and cause chaos. These monsters seem to be controlled by some force, and their actions are more organized and purposeful than before. Our defenses have been repeatedly attacked, and we have suffered heavy losses." There was a hint of fatigue and worry in his voice.

Zhang Hao said: "Then we are willing to assist the general and find out the truth." His eyes were firm and his tone was resolute, as if he was ready to face all challenges.

The general nodded slightly, "Okay, but there are many dangers along the way, so you must be mentally prepared." His eyes swept over everyone, with expectation and a hint of worry.

At this moment, a soldier hurried into the tent, "General, it's bad, another monster is attacking!" His voice was hurried and panicked, breaking the brief peace in the tent.

The general stood up suddenly and shouted, "Prepare to meet the enemy!" His voice was like thunder, instantly filling the entire tent with a tense atmosphere.

Zhang Hao and others rushed out without hesitation.

Outside the camp, a group of monsters rushed towards them with their fangs and claws bared. These monsters had different shapes, some were huge, some were extremely fast, and some could spit out flames, which made people shudder.

Zhang Hao charged into the horde of monsters, his sword wielding like a streak of silver lightning. His eyes were focused and fierce, each strike laced with the determination to kill. Sweat streamed down his cheeks as he engaged in a desperate struggle with the monsters, mingling with the monsters' blood that had splattered across his face.

The herbalist was also helping out, and although he was a little flustered, he didn't back down. He waved his stick, shouted loudly to give himself courage, and tried to share the pressure with Zhang Hao.

The old man cast a spell, muttering something and moving his hands. Rays of light shot out from his hands, striking the monsters and providing support to the others. His face had turned pale from the depletion of his magical power, but his eyes remained firm.

The black-robed figure, with his agility, weaved through the horde of monsters. His presence was ghostly, elusive, and he delivered a fatal blow to the monsters. Each strike accurately struck the monster's vital points.

With everyone's concerted efforts, the monsters were gradually driven back, their corpses lying scattered on the ground, emitting a foul stench and a bloody smell.

However, just when they thought victory was within reach, a massive monster appeared in the distance. Its body was as big as a mountain, its eyes burned with green flames, and its mouth belched black smoke. Every step it took made the ground tremble.

"What...what kind of monster is this?" the herbalist shouted in horror.

Zhang Hao gritted his teeth, "No matter what, we can't retreat!" He clenched the sword in his hand again, ready to face the new challenge...
