Chapter 46 A Difficult Mission
The envoys carefully selected by the Zhenwang clan shouldered a heavy mission and embarked on a dangerous journey. The morning sun shone upon them, but it could not dispel the haze in their hearts.
The leading disciple was named Tang Feng. His face was resolute, his eyes gleaming with determination. The other disciples behind him also wore solemn expressions, fully aware of the difficulties of this journey. They wore simple clothing and carried simple bags, yet they carried the hopes of the True King Sect.
They disguised themselves and carefully avoided any possible Shadow Gate spies. Along the way, they were in a state of panic, and every tree and grass seemed to be an enemy. Every rustling of a leaf and every chirping of a bird could make their hearts clench.
"Everyone be careful, there might be an ambush in this woods," Tang Feng said in a low voice. He glanced around vigilantly, gripping the sword tighter in his hand.
Everyone immediately became alert, their hands tightly gripping their weapons, and their breathing became light and rapid.
Suddenly, a group of men in black rushed out from the woods and attacked them without a word. Each of these men in black was agile and their moves were ruthless.
"It's the Shadow Sect!" Tang Feng shouted, taking the lead in confronting the enemy. His sword stabbed out like lightning, engaging in a fierce battle with the enemy.
Swords clashed, sparks flew. Although the emissaries fought hard, they were outnumbered and well-trained, and gradually lost the upper hand. Tang Feng's body was already covered with several wounds, but his eyes remained firm.
"No lingering battle, charge out!" Tang Feng made a quick decision. While resisting the enemy's attacks, he directed his fellow apprentices to break out.
They fought and retreated, finally breaking free from the enemy's entanglement. However, one of their sisters was unfortunately injured. Her face was pale, and her clothes were stained red with blood.
"Brother, I'm fine, don't worry about me, just leave!" The younger sister said, trying to hold back the pain. Her voice was weak, but full of determination.
"No, we have to go together!" Tang Feng answered firmly. He carried his junior sister on his back and led the others forward.
Led by Tang Feng, they continued on their journey. They endured many hardships along the way, sleeping in the open air. At night, they could only rest in caves, enduring the cold and hunger. During the day, they had to be vigilant for dangers that could appear at any time.
Finally, they arrived at the location of their first target sect. The sect's gate was tightly closed and the area was heavily guarded.
"Remember, we must stay calm and adapt to the situation." Tang Feng took a deep breath and said in front of the door. He straightened his clothes and tried to look calm and composed.
They entered the sect, but found that the other sect leader was wary and suspicious of them.
"What is your intention in sending people here at this time?" the headmaster asked coldly. He sat on the high seat, looking at Tang Feng and the others with a scrutinizing gaze.
Tang Feng spoke calmly, his prepared remarks unfolding slowly. "Master, the Shadow Sect has wicked ambitions. Their alliance seeks to annex other sects and strengthen their own power. The True King Sect has always upheld the principle of peaceful coexistence. We have come here hoping to join forces with your sect to resist the threat posed by the Shadow Sect."
The headmaster fell into deep thought, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest of his chair as he weighed the pros and cons. The envoys' hearts were in their throats as they nervously awaited the headmaster's response.
Tang Feng continued, "Master, if we join forces, the True King Sect is willing to provide cultivation resources and secret manuals to jointly enhance our strength. Moreover, we can formulate a detailed strategy to ensure that the interests of each sect are not harmed."
The headmaster was slightly moved, but still did not express his opinion.
"Master, time is running out. The threat from the Shadow Sect is getting closer and closer. If we don't unite as one now, I'm afraid all the sects will be doomed." Tang Feng spoke sincerely, his eyes full of expectation.
Finally, the headmaster slowly said, "Let me think about it again."
Tang Feng and the others had no choice but to leave temporarily. They knew that there was still a long way to go in terms of persuasion.
Can they successfully convince this sect? What will be the fate of the Zhenwang Sect? The future is full of unknowns and challenges.
