Chapter 442 The Power of Runes
Zhang Hao and the herbalist were swept dizzily by the powerful whirlwind, completely losing control of their bodies. Their clothes rustled in the wind, sweeping up the surrounding gravel and dust, scratching their cheeks painfully. The whirlwind, like a massive whirlpool, drew them deeply into it, seemingly threatening to devour them.
"Zhang Hao, what should we do?" The herbalist yelled in terror, his voice almost muffled by the wind. His voice was filled with despair and fear, and his hands scrabbled in the air, trying to grab a lifeline.
Zhang Hao tried hard to steady himself and responded loudly: "Don't panic, see if you can grab something fixed!" His voice sounded particularly firm in the strong wind. Although he was in extreme danger, he knew that he could not lose his composure at this moment.
However, in this raging whirlwind, grasping anything was no easy task. Every time they reached out, they only managed to grasp empty air, their bodies tossed about by the wind. Just as they were on the verge of despair, the whirlwind suddenly stopped, and the two of them fell heavily to the ground like abandoned dolls.
"Cough, cough, cough..." Zhang Hao coughed, struggling to get up from the ground. Pain rippled through his body, as if pierced deeply by countless needles. But he ignored it, looking up at the runes on the cave wall. They were now gleaming even brighter, a light that seemed to hold a powerful force. The light, like waves, constantly assaulted their vision.
The herbalist also stood up in a panic and looked at Rune in horror: "What the hell is this thing?" His voice trembled, and his legs were still weak from the previous danger.
Zhang Hao frowned and carefully observed the changes in the runes: "These runes seem to have triggered some kind of mechanism by us." His eyes were focused and deep, trying to find some clues from these constantly changing rune lines.
At this moment, the rune's light began to converge into rays, shooting towards every corner of the cave. Wherever the light reached, the stones on the cave wall began to crackle. As the light spread, the entire cave began to shake violently, and rocks continued to fall from overhead.
"Oh no! The cave is going to collapse!" The herbalist was so frightened that his face turned pale and his voice was almost crying. His eyes were wide open, filled with fear of death.
Zhang Hao's eyes were determined: "Don't be afraid, let's find a way out!" He grabbed the herbalist and ran forward. The ground beneath their feet kept shaking, making their steps stumble.
They struggled to find an exit in the shaky cave, each step fraught with danger. Suddenly, a stone door appeared before them. It was tall and heavy, with strange patterns carved into it.
Zhang Hao pushed the stone door hard, but it didn't budge. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his arms trembled slightly from the effort.
"Let me do it!" the herbalist said, and he and Zhang Hao worked together, but the stone door remained closed. Their breathing became rapid, and the hope in their hearts gradually faded.
At this time, the cave was shaking more and more violently, and rocks of all sizes kept falling from above.
"If this continues, we will all be buried here!" The herbalist's voice was full of despair.
Zhang Hao looked at the runes again, and suddenly an idea came to his mind: "Maybe these runes can open this stone door." A spark of hope rekindled in his eyes.
He ignored the danger and rushed towards the rune, trying to decipher its secrets. Under the shining light, Zhang Hao's face was filled with concentration and determination. His eyes were fixed on the lines of the rune, his mind working rapidly.
After some effort, Zhang Hao seemed to have found the key. He touched the runes in a specific order. Every time he touched, there was a flash of intense light.
A miracle happened. The stone door slowly rose up and a stream of fresh air rushed in from outside.
"Let's go!" Zhang Hao shouted.
The two of them quickly passed through the stone gate, and the cave behind them collapsed completely with a roar. The dust that rose up filled the air, as if announcing that they had just had a brush with death.
They stood outside the door, breathing heavily, looking at the unfamiliar scene before them, their hearts filled with both gratitude for surviving the disaster and confusion about the unknown...
