The President's Tender Trap
Chapter 38 Family Pressure
Su Wan's life has become increasingly complex and intriguing in recent months. While her relationship with Lu Ming has become increasingly stable at work, things are very different at home. Her family has taken a keen interest in her career choices and, in particular, has expressed strong concerns about her relationship with Lu Ming. This pressure from her family has left Su Wan feeling overwhelmed, and deep within her, she's beginning to feel confused and uneasy.
On the weekend, Su Wan returned home, fully expecting to spend some warm family time with her father. However, as soon as she sat down, her parents began their "caring" offensive.
"Su Wan, are you busy with work recently? Have you ever thought about changing to a more stable job?" The mother spoke first, her tone full of concern.
"Mom, I'm doing well at work now, and the project is going smoothly." Su Wan tried to sound relaxed. She knew her mother's concern was out of love, but she felt a little uneasy inside.
My father sighed and interrupted, "I heard that your relationship with Lu Ming is getting closer. You should think carefully about this matter. His background doesn't quite match yours."
Su Wan's heart tightened, and a glint of dissatisfaction flashed in her eyes. "Dad, Lu Ming is a very good person. He has been a great help to me in my work. Our relationship is also based on mutual understanding and support."
"But you can't eat feelings." His father's tone was helpless. "You have to consider the long-term future and choose someone who can provide you with a stable life."
"I know you are all doing this for my own good, but I hope to choose the career and life I like." Su Wan tried to calm herself down, but her heart felt increasingly heavy.
"We're not against you pursuing your dreams, we just hope you can consider reality along the way." There was a hint of tenderness in the mother's voice. "You have to understand that the pressures of life can sometimes come from emotions."
These words struck Su Wan like a hammer, and she was instantly filled with conflict and struggle. She recalled every moment with Lu Ming, the times of mutual support and shared hard work, yet she had to face the pressure from her family. She didn't know how to find a balance between family and her relationship.
"I will seriously consider your opinions, but I also hope you can understand my choice." Su Wan's voice revealed a hint of helplessness. She understood that her parents' concerns were not out of malice, but out of concern for her future.
After the argument, Su Wan returned to her room with a heavy heart, her parents' words echoing in her mind. She began to reflect on her future plans and whether her relationship with Lu Ming was truly as wonderful as she had imagined. The confusion and uneasiness within her heart mixed together, leaving her feeling extremely anxious.
"Maybe I should seriously consider this relationship." She said to herself, her heart full of struggle. She knew that her career and love were at a critical crossroads, and she had to make a choice.
A few days later, Su Wan was still feeling heavy-hearted during a team project meeting. She'd become distracted by the details of her work, and Lu Ming's occasional, concerned glances made her feel a little guilty.
"Su Wan, what's wrong with you today? You look like you're in a bad mood." After the meeting, Lu Ming quietly walked to her side and asked with concern.
"It's okay, maybe I'm a little tired from work lately." Su Wan forced a smile, but in her heart she was unwilling to share the pressure at home with Lu Ming.
"If there's anything I can help you with, remember to let me know." Lu Ming's voice was gentle yet firm, as if he could sense her inner turmoil. Su Wan sighed softly, her heart filled with conflict. She didn't want to transfer her parents' pressure onto Lu Ming, but she felt helpless. She began to realize that her emotions might affect their relationship.
"I will, thank you, Lu Ming." She forced a smile, but her heart was still heavy.
As time went on, Su Wan's struggle between family and her relationship became increasingly apparent. Her parents' constant mention of Lu Ming's background and career stability weighed heavily on her. At the same time, she couldn't ignore the blossoming feelings between them. Whenever she saw Lu Ming's smile, she felt a surge of warmth, but it was also tempered by a deep worry about the future.
"Su Wan, what are you thinking about?" Lu Ming asked tentatively during lunch, concern in his voice.
"I'm thinking about some things in the future." Su Wan lowered her head, trying to hide her inner struggle.
"If there is anything that needs to be discussed, you can tell me." Lu Ming's tone was gentle and firm. He always hoped to share his thoughts with Su Wan.
"I know you care about me very much, but I have some things that need to be sorted out right now." Su Wan sighed slightly, her heart full of contradictions.
In the days that followed, Su Wan struggled to find a balance. She tried to maintain her rapport with Lu Ming at work while also coping with the pressures of family. Every day, returning home, her parents' care and advice felt like an invisible yoke, suffocating her. Yet, she couldn't ignore her bond with Lu Ming; that mutual support and understanding was what she longed for.
One weekend, Su Wan decided to go for a walk with Lu Ming, hoping to relieve her inner stress through a relaxing atmosphere. She hoped that in the process, she could find a suitable opportunity to share her confusion with Lu Ming.
"Do you have any plans recently?" Lu Ming asked as he walked on the path in the park, with anticipation in his eyes.
"Actually, I'm thinking about my future career plan." Su Wan hesitated slightly, but secretly encouraged herself to be honest.
"Career planning? What direction have you thought of?" Lu Ming stopped and looked at him with concern.
"I'm thinking maybe I should consider a more stable career." Su Wan's voice was filled with uneasiness. "My family has always hoped that I could have a stable life."
"A stable life is important, but your own feelings are even more important." Lu Ming said seriously, his eyes firm, "I believe you can find a balance between work and life."
Hearing Lu Ming's words, Su Wan felt a surge of warmth in her heart. However, a deep struggle followed. "But I also know that many people will question my choice, especially my family."
"Do you think their concerns are justified?" There was a hint of inquiry in Lu Ming's eyes.
"I think they just want me to live a good life, but sometimes I feel helpless." Su Wan lowered her head, her heart full of contradictions.
"No matter what, I will support your choice." Lu Ming's voice was gentle and firm. He held Su Wan's hand, giving her a little comfort.
"Thank you, Lu Ming. Your support makes me feel at ease." Su Wan smiled slightly, but her heart was still full of struggle. She knew that the road ahead would not be smooth, but with Lu Ming's company, she felt a glimmer of hope.
In the days that followed, Su Wan struggled to find a balance between family and her relationship life. She communicated more frequently with her parents, trying to help them understand her career choices and her romantic life. At the same time, she maintained good communication with Lu Ming, striving to keep their relationship nurturing amidst the pressures of work.
However, family pressure persisted. Whenever Su Wan returned home, her parents would ask about her work progress and her relationship with Lu Ming, making her feel an invisible constraint. She began to realize that perhaps her family's concern wasn't all bad; it prompted her to think more seriously about her future.
"I hope you can make the best choice for yourself." The mother said seriously during a conversation, with concern in her eyes.
