The President's Tender Trap
Chapter 26 An unexpected reunion
At a company party, Su Wan and Lu Ming's unexpected reunion left both of them feeling complicated and nervous. The party took place in a stylish bar, where the lights were soft and hazy, and the music was accompanied by laughter. However, amidst this joyful atmosphere, the gap between Lu Ming and Su Wan was particularly noticeable. Su Wan arrived at the party feeling apprehensive. She knew Lu Ming would be there, and while things had improved somewhat between them, her concerns remained. She tried to relax, but the sight of Lu Ming sent a wave of anxiety back.
"Su Wan, you're here!" Her colleagues greeted her warmly, engaging her in conversation and trying to integrate her into the gathering. Su Wan smiled slightly, trying to conceal her inner nervousness, but her gaze unconsciously flicked towards Lu Ming.
Lu Ming was chatting with a few colleagues, occasionally glancing up at his surroundings. When he saw Su Wan appear at the bar, he felt a surge of excitement, yet then an indescribable awkwardness. He wanted to go over and say hello, but he was worried about making her uncomfortable, so he chose to remain silent.
"What's wrong with you two? Why does the atmosphere feel a bit weird?" A colleague noticed the subtle changes between Lu Ming and Su Wan and couldn't help but tease them.
"Yeah, they were so loving before, why do they feel so tense now?" another colleague agreed, with a gossipy glint in his eyes.
Lu Ming's face was etched with embarrassment, a wry smile etched inwardly. He knew his relationship had become a focal point among his colleagues, but he had no way of explaining it. Just then, Su Wan's eyes met Lu Ming's, and the atmosphere between them instantly became even more tense. A flicker of panic flashed in Su Wan's eyes, and she turned and walked away, as if trying to avoid the situation.
"Su Wan, wait!" Lu Ming's heart tightened, and he finally mustered the courage to chase after them. However, his colleagues around him clearly had no intention of letting them go, and they all cast curious glances at him, leaving him speechless.
"Hey, Su Wan, what's wrong with you? Are you dissatisfied with Lu Ming?" Colleagues began to make a fuss, and the atmosphere became even more awkward.
A trace of panic flashed across Su Wan's face. She knew she couldn't run away any longer. She forced herself to stop, turned around, and forced a smile. "Nothing, I just wanted to get some drinks."
Lu Ming's heart sank, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He knew that avoiding her would only make things worse, but he was powerless to do anything about it. The noise of the party echoed in his ears, as if reminding him of the distance between him and Su Wan.
"Hey, Lu Ming, don't be so nervous. Su Wan is just a little busy." Seeing this, a colleague tried to lighten the mood. \n\n"Yeah, everyone saw what happened between you two. Why keep them guessing?" Another colleague joined in the joking, their laughter tinged with teasing.
Lu Ming took a deep breath, feeling helpless. "I know, but this isn't what I want," he muttered to himself, his eyes following Su Wan's figure.
At the other end of the bar, Su Wan was filled with anxiety. She knew she shouldn't avoid Lu Ming, but the situation was making her feel incredibly awkward. The chatter from her colleagues felt like invisible pressure, forcing her to confront the man she once deeply loved.
"What should I do?" Su Wan pondered, her grip on the drink cup unconsciously tightening. She wanted to explain to Lu Ming, but she didn't know where to begin. Recalling the previous misunderstanding and the cold war, the tangled emotions in her heart surged back.
"Su Wan, don't think too much and relax a little." The persuasion of her colleagues rang in her ears, but these words did not seem to relieve her burden.
At this moment, Lin Xiaoyu walked out of the crowd and saw Su Wan's expression. Her heart tightened. She knew that Su Wan was going through an inner struggle. So she took the initiative to step forward and said softly, "Su Wan, don't worry about other people's opinions. Go talk to Lu Ming."
"I don't know how to face him." Su Wan's voice was low, and a hint of hesitation flashed in her eyes.
"Only you two can resolve the issues between you. Avoiding them won't make them go away." Lin Xiaoyu's tone was firm, with concern in her eyes.
Su Wan was silent for a moment, thinking to herself. Yes, running away doesn't solve any problems; only by facing them can we find a way out. She took a deep breath and finally decided to muster up the courage to talk to Lu Ming.
"Okay, I'll try." Su Wan finally nodded, with a hint of determination in her eyes.
Lu Ming was talking to a colleague, but his heart was restless. When he saw Su Wan approaching him, a wave of hope and nervousness surged in his heart. He knew this might be their chance to rekindle their relationship.
"Lu Ming, can we talk?" Su Wan's voice was soft, but with a hint of nervousness.
"Of course." Lu Ming was delighted and quickly stood up, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. However, his colleagues weren't about to let them go. They gathered around, their eyes gleaming with gossip.
"Hey, Lu Ming, Su Wan wants to have a heart-to-heart talk with you, go quickly!" Colleagues joked, and the atmosphere seemed a little heated.
Lu Ming's face was awkward, but his heart was filled with anticipation. He knew that only by facing the situation could he find a solution. He and Su Wan walked to the side, trying to calm down.
"Let's go over there." Su Wan pointed to a relatively quiet corner and prayed silently in her heart, hoping to find an environment suitable for chatting.
The two walked to a corner, seemingly isolated from the surrounding clamor, and a tense atmosphere filled the air. Lu Ming's heart was filled with anticipation and anxiety. He knew that tonight's conversation would be a turning point in their relationship.
"Su Wan, I'm glad you came." Lu Ming's voice was gentle, and there was concern in his eyes.
"Me too." There was a hint of nervousness in Su Wan's voice. She took a deep breath and tried to relax herself.
"I've been thinking about our relationship recently, and I feel like there's a lot we need to communicate about." Lu Ming spoke first, his eyes revealing sincerity.
"Yeah, I think so too." A warm feeling surged in Su Wan's heart, but her eyes were still wandering, as if she had difficulty finding the right words.
"I really care about you, and the misunderstanding between us makes me very painful." Lu Ming's voice was low, and there was a sincere light in his eyes.
"Me too." Su Wan finally mustered up the courage, tears glistening in her eyes. "I've been worried about your trust in me. I'm afraid of experiencing another loss."
"I will never give up on you, Su Wan." Lu Ming's voice was firm, with a hint of tenderness in his eyes. He reached out his hand, trying to close the distance between them.
However, Su Wan was still hesitant. She knew that regaining trust would take time, and she still had many unanswered questions.
"I hope we can start over, but I need time." Su Wan finally said, with a hint of determination in her voice.
"I'll give you time, and we'll work hard together." Lu Ming felt relieved, and a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes.
