The President's Tender Trap
Chapter 175: The First Quarrel
Su Wan and Lu Ming's relationship gradually grew stronger amidst the blessings of their friends, and their lives were sweet and happy. Every day was filled with laughter, and whether they were attending concerts together or sharing their lives in a cafe, they enjoyed this wonderful time. However, as time went by, the little frictions in life gradually showed their signs.
It was a Friday night, and Su Wan was busy working late on an important project. Lu Ming left work early and decided to surprise Su Wan by preparing her favorite dinner for her return home. However, when he arrived at Su Wan's apartment, he discovered she hadn't had time for dinner and was still buried in her work.
"Su Wan, I have prepared dinner for you, come and eat." Lu Ming pushed the door open quietly. Seeing that Su Wan was still focused on the computer screen, he couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.
"I don't have time right now, Lu Ming. This project is almost due." Su Wan looked tired, her eyes filled with anxiety. She didn't even look up at Lu Ming, her mind preoccupied with the complicated tasks.
"But I prepared dinner specially for you..." Lu Ming said a little disappointedly, with a hint of helplessness in his voice.
"I know you're thoughtful, but I really don't have time to eat." Su Wan's tone was a little hurried. Although she was grateful for Lu Ming's kindness, she was more concerned about the pressure at work.
Lu Ming felt a pang of grievance. He understood that Su Wan's work was important, but he also hoped that she could spare some time to accompany him. He sighed slightly, his heart filled with dissatisfaction: "You are always so busy. I feel that there is no way for me to have a place in your heart."
"It's not my fault. I also wish I could spend more time with you." Su Wan finally raised her head and saw the disappointment in Lu Ming's eyes. She felt uneasy. "I just want to do my job well. It's very important to me."
"I understand you, but I also hope you understand me." Lu Ming's voice rose slightly, his emotions beginning to lose control. "I feel like you've become more and more focused on work and less focused on our relationship."
"This is not neglect! I have been trying to balance work and life!" Su Wan was a little angry and retorted unwillingly in her heart.
The atmosphere between the two of them instantly became tense, and the originally warm dinner became cold and dull. Lu Ming's loss and Su Wan's anxiety intertwined, and they both felt wronged, but didn't know how to express it.
"You have no idea how hard I've worked!" Su Wan's voice rose, tears glistening in her eyes, and the pressure accumulated in her heart finally burst out.
"I'm also working hard for our future, but you always push me away!" Lu Ming's voice was filled with helplessness and anger, and the intensity of his emotions made him lose his composure.
At that moment, the room was filled with a tense atmosphere. Both men were aware of the escalating argument, yet neither was willing to back down. Su Wan turned away, silently wiping away the tears from her eyes, her heart filled with grievance and uneasiness, while Lu Ming lowered his head, his heart filled with loss.
Not long after, Su Wan's phone rang. It was a message from her colleague, reminding her of a project deadline. Her mood grew heavier, the dual pressures of work and relationships suffocating her. She looked at Lu Ming, wanting to say something, but she didn't know how to begin.
"I'm going to work first." Su Wan finally chose to escape, said in a low voice, turned and walked into the room.
"Su Wan..." Lu Ming wanted to chase after her, but he felt helpless. He knew that arguing at this moment wouldn't solve the problem, but would only drive them further apart. He sighed and sat quietly on the sofa, feeling helpless.
Su Wan tossed and turned sleeplessly that night, filled with regret for the argument. She knew Lu Ming wasn't deliberately trying to put pressure on her, but rather was simply concerned and caring for her. Lu Ming, in his late-night contemplation, realized that his emotional reaction had been too intense and might have hurt Su Wan's feelings.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the curtains. When Su Wan woke up, she was still filled with regret over the previous night's argument. She knew that the importance of communication lies in mutual understanding, not just arguments. After getting up, she decided to take the initiative to talk to Lu Ming.
When she walked out of the room, Lu Ming had already gotten up and was busy in the kitchen preparing breakfast. Seeing Su Wan walk out of the room, he was slightly stunned, and an embarrassed expression appeared on his face.
"Good... morning." Lu Ming greeted cautiously, with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"Good morning." Su Wan responded, secretly encouraging herself in her heart, trying to make the atmosphere more relaxed. She took a deep breath, mustered up the courage and said, "Can we talk?"
"Of course." Lu Ming raised his head, a hint of anticipation and anxiety flashing in his eyes. He knew that communication was the key to solving problems.
The two sat at the dining table. Su Wan picked up a glass of water, her heart filled with mixed emotions. She knew that this conversation would determine the future of their relationship.
"I want to apologize for the argument last night," Su Wan finally said, her voice trembling. "I know I'm under a lot of pressure at work, but I shouldn't have taken it out on you."
"I'm sorry, too." Lu Ming said softly, his eyes showing understanding and concern. "I shouldn't have ignored your feelings because of my own emotions. I just hope to spend more time with you."
"I understand what you want." Su Wan nodded, her heart gradually calming down. "I have been trying to balance work and life, but sometimes it is really difficult."
"I understand your pressure. Work is very important to you. I don't want you to feel neglected." Lu Ming's voice was gentle but firm. "I hope we can face these challenges together, instead of letting work become a barrier between us."
Su Wan felt a surge of warmth. She knew Lu Ming's understanding and support were what she needed most. She smiled faintly, her heart filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Lu Ming. I will work hard to improve our communication, and I hope you can understand my work."
"We can make a plan together to give each other time and space," Lu Ming suggested, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "For example, we can go on a date once a week, or take time out of our busy work schedules to text each other."
"That's a great idea!" Su Wan's face was filled with smiles, and she felt extremely relieved. "We can also set up some 'no-work days' to completely let go of stress and enjoy each other's company."
As the two slowly began to talk, the barriers between them gradually dissipated. Through their communication, they not only came to understand each other's perspectives but also deepened their appreciation for their relationship. Su Wan felt Lu Ming's support and care, and Lu Ming realized that maintaining a relationship requires effort from both parties.
Ultimately, they rebuilt trust and understanding in a simple exchange over breakfast. After this argument, both Su Wan and Lu Ming understood the importance of communication and realized that open dialogue and understanding are the key to solving any problem.
"We should communicate more in the future and stop being silent when we encounter problems." Lu Ming said with a smile, his eyes full of tenderness.
"I agree." Su Wan nodded, full of confidence in her heart, "We will work together to make this relationship even better."
With the end of this minor argument, Su Wan and Lu Ming's relationship not only remained unaffected, but actually strengthened through their communication. They learned how to support each other amidst the pressures of life and how to find solutions to conflicts. Every argument was a time of growth, allowing them to walk more steadily on the path of love.
In the days that followed, Su Wan and Lu Ming would often recall the quarrel, lamenting the growth and changes in each other. They understood that love is not always smooth sailing, but a process of two people walking hand in hand through wind and rain, understanding and tolerating each other.
