The President's Tender Trap
Chapter 17: My Best Friend's Suspicion
Su Wan's relationship with Lu Ming gradually heats up, their sweet dates become frequent, and every day of their lives becomes colorful because of his presence. However, just as she is immersed in this happiness, her best friend Lin Xiaoyu begins to doubt this relationship and begins to persuade her.
"Su Wan, do you really think Lu Ming is a trustworthy person?" One weekend afternoon, Lin Xiaoyu sat in a cafe, looking at Su Wan seriously.
"Xiaoyu, why do you say that?" Su Wan was stunned and felt vaguely uneasy.
"I just think that you two have just started dating, and Lu Ming's identity and background are very complicated, so you should be vigilant." Lin Xiaoyu's tone was full of concern, and it was obvious that she was not optimistic about this relationship.
Su Wan's heart tightened. Lu Ming's identity was indeed a problem. He was an outstanding project manager with outstanding work ability, but within the company, his background seemed a bit murky. Although Su Wan had never given it much thought, Lin Xiaoyu's reminder made her start to consider these potential problems.
"Xiaoyu, Lu Ming is very good to me and he has always supported me." Su Wan tried hard to defend Lu Ming, hoping that her best friend could understand her feelings.
"I understand your feelings for him, but you can't ignore his identity, especially in a professional environment, where many people value interests." Lin Xiaoyu was still worried, with some hesitation in her eyes.
"I'll pay attention, but I really like him." Su Wan's voice softened, but her heart was full of contradictions. She wanted to believe Lu Ming's sincerity, but she couldn't ignore Lin Xiaoyu's warning.
"You know I'm worried about you. Love is beautiful, but you must always stay rational and don't be fooled by superficial tenderness." There was a sense of urgency in Lin Xiaoyu's tone, as if she was worried about Su Wan's future.
"I will, Xiaoyu," Su Wan replied softly, but her uneasiness only grew. She knew Lin Xiaoyu was concerned for her, but these words had sown a seed of doubt in her heart.
Over the next few days, Su Wan's mind replayed every moment with Lu Ming. Each moment of tenderness and care filled her with joy, but Lin Xiaoyu's words hung like a shadow over her heart. She began to doubt Lu Ming's true intentions, even secretly wondering if he truly cared about her as much as he appeared to.
Finally, during a date with Lu Ming, Su Wan couldn't help but ask, "Lu Ming, why did you choose to help me in the first place? I know there are many conflicts of interest in the workplace."
Lu Ming was stunned for a moment, then smiled slightly, "Because I believe in your ability and hope to see you succeed. We are colleagues, and I understand the pressure in the workplace." His voice was gentle and firm, and his eyes were sincere.
Su Wan felt a surge of warmth in her heart, but was then disturbed by Lin Xiaoyu's suspicion. She was torn between wanting to believe Lu Ming's sincerity and fearing she would be hurt.
"You really have no other purpose?" She couldn't help but ask again, with a hint of uneasiness in her eyes.
"No, I just hope you can make further progress in your career." Lu Ming's eyes revealed determination, as if conveying a kind of unspoken trust.
Su Wan nodded silently, but the doubts in her heart did not dissipate. She began to frequently think about Lu Ming's identity and motives, and even tried to find clues at times, but she could not find anything to question.
A few days later, Su Wan and Lin Xiaoyu met again, and Lin Xiaoyu was still skeptical of Lu Ming. "You seem to be doing well lately, but I still hope you can be careful. Lu Ming's true intentions are not simple."
"Xiaoyu, I know you are doing this for my own good, but I really like him." There was a hint of helplessness in Su Wan's voice, her feelings for Lu Ming and her worries about her best friend intertwined.
"Love is beautiful, but you can't ignore reality." Lin Xiaoyu's tone was still firm, as if conveying an unquestionable truth to Su Wan.
"I will remain vigilant, but I also hope you can understand my feelings." Su Wan finally couldn't help but retort, feeling aggrieved.
"I understand, but that doesn't stop me from worrying about you." Lin Xiaoyu sighed, with a complicated emotion in her eyes.
As time went by, Su Wan's inner conflict became more apparent. Whenever she was with Lu Ming, she felt nothing but warmth and care, but when she thought of Lin Xiaoyu's warning, doubts inevitably arose in her heart. She began to constantly speculate about Lu Ming's true intentions, as if the beauty of this relationship was shrouded in a shadow.
One night, Su Wan returned home alone, feeling restless. She decided to call Lu Ming and discuss her concerns with him. "Lu Ming, are you free? I want to talk to you."
"Of course, Su Wan. Where do we meet?" Lu Ming's voice was gentle and caring.
"Let's just go to the cafe." Su Wan replied, silently hoping that this conversation would resolve her doubts.
In the cafe, Su Wan sat by the window, waiting for Lu Ming to arrive. Her heart was filled with nervousness and anticipation, as if she was about to face an important conversation.
Lu Ming arrived as promised, and when he saw Su Wan, a warm smile appeared on his face. "You look a little uneasy today, did something happen?" he asked with concern.
"I want to talk to you about our relationship." Su Wan's voice was a little hesitant, and her eyes revealed some complicated emotions.
"Of course, what is it about?" Lu Ming sat down, his eyes gentle but firm.
"I...some friends have doubts about your identity, and they are worried that I will be hurt because of you." Su Wan mustered up the courage and looked directly into Lu Ming's eyes.
Lu Ming was slightly taken aback, then smiled understandingly. "I understand. Friends always care about you. But I hope you can trust me. I'm sincere to you."
"I know, but I'm also afraid of getting hurt." Su Wan's voice was helpless, and she was struggling secretly in her heart.
"Relationships do have risks, but I hope to face them with you." Lu Ming's tone was firm, his eyes piercing. "I will work hard to prove my sincerity."
Su Wan felt a surge of warmth in her heart. Lu Ming's attitude made her feel a sense of trust and firm support. She wanted to believe his sincerity, but the doubts in her heart still lingered.
"I will try my best to believe you." Su Wan finally said, secretly making up her mind.
"Thank you, Su Wan. I will prove my sincerity with my actions." There was a firm light in Lu Ming's eyes, as if he was promising something.
As the conversation concluded, Su Wan's heart gradually calmed down. Although Lin Xiaoyu's doubts remained, she decided to give herself and Lu Ming a chance to explore the possibilities of this relationship. She understood that love requires time and trust, and she was eager to walk this path side by side with Lu Ming.
Yet, the inner conflict persists. Su Wan's feelings for Lu Ming grow increasingly complex. She wants to trust his sincerity, yet fears ultimately being hurt by his identity. Unsure of what the future holds, she resolves to face it bravely, putting aside her doubts and embracing the warmth and happiness between her and Lu Ming.
