The President's Tender Trap
Chapter 143 Facing the Test
After hearing the news, Su Wan's mood was like a sudden storm, instantly shrouded in anxiety and confusion. She sat by the window, gazing at the bustling city outside, but her eyes were empty. She was shocked by the news that Lu Ming would be working abroad for a year, and her heart was filled with a mixture of emotions.
She didn't know how to face this sudden change, nor did she know if their relationship could continue under such circumstances. Thoughts flooded in like a tide, and the uneasiness and doubt in her heart almost suffocated her.
"What if he meets someone better abroad?" This thought involuntarily popped up in Su Wan's mind. She shook her head hard, trying to dispel such thoughts, but the uneasiness in her heart was like a dark shadow that could not be shaken off.
"We've been through so much, why should we give up just because of distance?" she muttered to herself, trying to convince herself. However, the struggle between reason and emotion made her feel extremely exhausted.
That night, Su Wan lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. Her mind kept flashing back to the moments she'd shared with Lu Ming: the joy of walks together, the sweetness of watching movies together, the warm hugs and kisses. Every moment had brought her joy, but now, it seemed shrouded in a haze, seemingly far away.
The next day, Su Wan decided to go to a cafe to meet her good friend Xiaoyu. She needed someone to talk to, looking for some comfort and advice. Xiaoyu always brought her warmth and strength.
"What's wrong with you? You look like you're in a bad mood." Xiaoyu noticed that something was wrong with Su Wan as soon as they met and asked with concern.
"Lu Ming is going abroad to work for a year." Su Wan said in a low voice, a hint of worry in her eyes.
"What? A year?" Xiaoyu's eyes showed shock. "Then what about your relationship?"
"I don't know either." Su Wan sighed, feeling extremely helpless. "I'm wondering, can this relationship really be maintained in a long-distance relationship?"
Xiaoyu listened silently, feeling a complex mix of emotions. She knew that a long-distance relationship was a test for any couple.
"I think it's really difficult. You have to deal with communication barriers, time differences, and changes in each other's lives," Xiaoyu said. "But if you're both willing to work hard, there might still be hope."
"But I always feel uneasy." Su Wan's voice was helpless. "I'm afraid he will meet someone better abroad, or the feelings between us will gradually fade."
"I understand your concerns, but you also have to trust Lu Ming. He's serious about you," Xiaoyu comforted him. "You can make some plans, like weekly video calls, to stay in touch and keep your hearts connected."
Su Wan nodded, feeling a little calmer. She knew that communication and trust were the foundation of a relationship, but the emotional test still troubled her deeply.
"You've been together for so long, it's time to trust each other." Xiaoyu took a deep breath and said seriously, "If your relationship is strong enough, a test like this will make you cherish each other even more."
"You're right." Su Wan responded with a wry smile, but the confusion about the future in her heart still could not be dispelled.
After returning home, Su Wan's thoughts were still tangled. She opened her phone and looked through the chat history with Lu Ming, her heart filled with warm memories. However, thinking about the long distance she was about to meet, she felt powerless again.
"How should I face all this?" she muttered to herself, with confusion in her eyes.
A few days later, the day Lu Ming was leaving for abroad finally arrived. Su Wan arranged to meet him in the park, hoping to catch up before their departure. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground, as if adding a touch of warmth to their reunion.
"You're here." Lu Ming smiled when he saw Su Wan, but there was also a hint of reluctance in his eyes.
"Yeah." Su Wan responded softly, but her heart was still unsettled. She knew that this might be their brief reunion, but it was also a test they were about to face.
"I will try my best to adapt to life there and work hard." Lu Ming held Su Wan's hand and said affectionately, "No matter what happens, I will always think of you."
"I'll try my best to support you, but I'm still worried." Su Wan's voice was uneasiness. "You know, long-distance relationships are really difficult."
"I understand how you feel." Lu Ming nodded seriously, his eyes flashing with understanding and determination. "But I hope you can believe me, the feelings between us will not weaken because of distance."
Su Wan looked at Lu Ming, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. Although she still felt uneasy, she knew that their mutual trust was the driving force for them to move forward.
"We can make a plan to have video calls every week and share each other's lives." Lu Ming suggested, with anticipation glittering in his eyes.
"Good idea." Su Wan smiled slightly, feeling a little relieved.
"I will come back to see you regularly, or you can come to my place." Lu Ming continued, his tone full of expectation.
"I will try my best to adapt to the life during this period." Su Wan responded firmly, secretly making up her mind.
The two strolled through the park, the sun shone on their shoulders, a warm and peaceful atmosphere. In this moment of tranquility, Su Wan felt a sense of comfort. She knew that although the future was full of uncertainties, they were willing to face it together.
"No matter how difficult the road ahead is, I will cherish this relationship." Lu Ming said affectionately, with a determined light in his eyes.
"Me too." Su Wan responded with a smile, her heart full of anticipation for the future.
However, with Lu Ming's departure, Su Wan once again fell into deep thought. Facing the upcoming long-distance relationship, what could she do? Could she withstand this test?
In the days that followed, Su Wan tried to adjust her mindset and adapt to the upcoming changes. Whenever it was late at night and everyone was asleep, a feeling of loneliness would come over her, invading her thoughts.
"I wish I could be stronger." She often said to herself, trying to find inner strength.
As time went by, she began to try to adapt to life. Busy work, gatherings with friends, and occasional travel all became her ways to relieve her longing for him. However, the uneasiness deep in her heart still existed.
"Can I maintain trust during this time?" Su Wan often asked herself. She knew that trust was built on mutual understanding and support, and her feelings for Lu Ming had not diminished.
Finally, Su Wan decided to contact Lu Ming and share her feelings. During a video call, she mustered up the courage to confide her anxiety and uneasiness to Lu Ming.
"I'm just worried that long-distance living will make us grow apart." Su Wan said frankly, with an uneasy glint in her eyes.
"I understand how you feel." Lu Ming responded gently, his eyes showing concern and understanding. "But we can work together to make this relationship stronger."
"I know, but I'm still a little scared." There was helplessness in Su Wan's voice.
"We will have many opportunities to communicate, and I will try my best to make you feel my presence." Lu Ming's voice was firm yet gentle. "No matter what happens, I will always support you."
Hearing Lu Ming's promise, Su Wan gradually felt a sense of comfort in her heart. Although she still felt uneasy, she knew that the trust and understanding between them was the driving force for them to move forward.
In the days that followed, Su Wan and Lu Ming kept in touch through video calls, sharing every moment of their lives. Every exchange brought her a sense of warmth, and although they were still separated by distance, their hearts remained firmly connected.
"I will work hard to make myself better and wait for you to come back." Su Wan said firmly during a phone call.
