The President's Tender Trap
Chapter 11 An unexpected partner
On a sunny weekend, the hustle and bustle of the city seemed temporarily forgotten. The company organized a team-building event at an ecological park in the suburbs. Su Wan arrived at the gathering place early, feeling a bit nervous. Although she had worked at the company for three years, such an event still made her nervous. She wasn't very good at interacting with her colleagues, let alone participating in various team games.
"Hello everyone, welcome to our team-building event!" Li Mei, the HR manager, stood at the front of the stage, waving enthusiastically in a loud and clear voice. "Today, we're not only going to relax, but also get to know each other better. Next, we'll do some team activities to foster rapport and cooperation."
Su Wan sighed softly, thinking to herself, "Hopefully, this day goes smoothly." Just then, Li Mei began dividing the groups, and Su Wan noticed Lu Ming. Lu Ming was a senior executive at the company, highly skilled at work and possessing a calm demeanor. He evoked a strong sense of trust, but because of his position, Su Wan kept his distance.
"Su Wan, Lu Ming, you are assigned to the same group!" Li Mei's voice interrupted Su Wan's thoughts.
"It's you." Su Wan couldn't help but grumble in a low voice, but her heart tightened slightly. Lu Ming looked at Su Wan, and a faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth: "It seems that we have to work hard together today."
"Yeah." Su Wan agreed reluctantly, thinking to herself that it seemed that today's challenge was not only about team activities, but also about how to get along with Lu Ming.
The first activity was the "Trust Backfall." Su Wan's heart instantly jumped into her throat. Although she knew this was an activity to build trust, she was still a little nervous facing an executive like Lu Ming. Lu Ming seemed to see her hesitation and said in a relaxed tone, "Relax, I'll catch you."
Su Wan took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She silently repeated to herself: Believe in myself, believe in him. This conviction bolstered her courage, and she slowly fell backward. Just as she was about to hit the ground, Lu Ming caught her steadily. The contact between their bodies made her heart race.
"See, I said I would catch you." Lu Ming smiled slightly, with a hint of encouragement in his eyes.
"Well, thank you." Su Wan lowered her head shyly, and the slight nervousness in her heart was gradually replaced by warmth.
The next activity was the "Blind Square." Each team formed a square using ropes, while one member wore a blindfold and followed the instructions of the others. Su Wan, chosen to be the "blind person," felt uneasy, but Lu Ming consoled her, saying, "Don't worry, I'll guide you."
The activity began. Su Wan donned a blindfold, and the sounds around her became blurry and distant. She could still hear Lu Ming's voice, constantly giving instructions. "Go left, stop. Now back up, turn left, and move forward." Under his guidance, Su Wan slowly moved, gradually gaining a sense of the other colleagues' positions.
"Alright, stop!" Lu Ming's voice rang in her ears. Su Wan's heart tightened, feeling as if she had completed her mission. She carefully removed her blindfold and was astonished by the scene before her. Their team had truly formed a perfect square.
"Great!" The other colleagues cheered, and Su Wan couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of accomplishment. Lu Ming gave her a thumbs-up, his eyes gleaming with admiration: "You did a great job, and you were very responsive."
A blush appeared on Su Wan's face, and a sweet feeling filled her heart. The nervousness she had just felt seemed to be diluted by this sense of accomplishment. She began to realize that Lu Ming was not as unreachable as she had imagined, but rather a person she could trust.
As the activity progressed, the two began to interact more frequently. The next game was "Passing Trust," where each team had to complete an obstacle course in turn and reach the finish line. Su Wan and Lu Ming gradually developed a rapport during this process, and their coordination became increasingly fluid.
"There's an obstacle on the left. Go a little to the right." Lu Ming's voice was clear and firm, and Su Wan felt relieved. She followed his instructions and successfully avoided the obstacle.
"We are really a perfect match." Lu Ming teased with a playful glint in his eyes.
"Don't be so narcissistic." Su Wan pretended to be calm, but she was secretly happy in her heart.
"I'm just telling the truth." Lu Ming smiled slightly, with a hint of playfulness in his eyes.
After the event, everyone gathered on the grass to share lunch. Su Wan and Lu Ming sat side by side, the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. They chatted about their respective interests and hobbies. Su Wan discovered Lu Ming's keen interest in photography, and he expressed a keen curiosity about her illustrations.
"I always thought that art and business were two completely different things, but after listening to you, I found that they can actually be combined very well." Lu Ming said seriously.
"Yes, in many cases, the two can complement each other." Su Wan felt Lu Ming's sincerity, and her affection for him deepened.
After lunch, everyone started the final game—"Telepathy." Each person had to silently recite a word and then communicate it to their peers through eye contact, ultimately guessing the word. Su Wan pondered for a moment, then chose "Trust."
As she passed the word, her eyes met Lu Ming's, and he seemed to sense her feelings. Lu Ming smiled slightly, his eyes revealing understanding, and he finally successfully guessed the word.
"It seems that we really have a good understanding of each other." He said with a smile, a hint of ridicule in his eyes.
"Yeah, I think we can form a team." Su Wan couldn't help laughing.
As the event came to an end, everyone seemed to be still feeling unsatisfied, and the distance between them continued to shrink during the whole day's interaction. Su Wan sighed in her heart, thinking that the people she had thought were awkward partners had now become tacit friends.
"How was your day?" Lu Ming asked in the car on the way back, looking out the window, as if thinking about something.
"It's very good. Although I was a little nervous at the beginning, I felt that we cooperated very well later." Su Wan smiled slightly, feeling satisfied with the experience of the day.
"Me too." Lu Ming turned around, his eyes sincere and warm. "I look forward to working together again next time."
"Next time?" Su Wan was stunned for a moment, then smiled again, "Okay, I'm looking forward to it too."
At that moment, Su Wan felt a sense of ease and happiness she had never felt before. Perhaps, in the days to come, there would be more possibilities for the relationship between her and Lu Ming.
