Chapter 174: Towards a New Chapter

A few days later, Wang Qiang suddenly made an appointment with Li Hao and Liu Xia, saying that he had something to discuss with them.

The three met as usual, in that familiar cafe.

When Wang Qiang walked in, he was carrying a suitcase in his hand and he didn't look like he was there to chat.

"Brother Qiang, what are you doing?" Li Hao asked curiously when he saw the box.

Wang Qiang smiled and put the box aside. "I have to go back to Daxia. I have some fund matters to take care of. Zen has several big projects coming up and they can't do without me as their operator."

Liu Xia came over with coffee, also a little surprised: "Brother Qiang, so sudden? What about our plan..."

Wang Qiang waved his hand, his tone firm: "Don't worry, the plan will proceed as usual."

"Li Hao, your doctoral research and the development of New Star Investment are both very important. Don't let these things delay your progress. Feel free to contact me if you need anything. Our relationship is more than just that of senior and junior students, or seniors and juniors on the research and study journey. We are partners."

Li Hao nodded, a trace of gratitude flashing in his eyes: "Brother Qiang, don't worry, I will advance step by step. You should take care of yourself in Daxia and don't get too tired."

Wang Qiang laughed out loud: "Don't worry, your brother Qiang won't get tired that easily."

After he finished speaking, he glanced at Li Hao and Liu Xia, and added meaningfully, "Xiaoxia, I'm leaving Li Hao in your care. Keep an eye on him for me. Don't let your research get in the way of your life."

When Liu Xia heard this, her cheeks flushed slightly, but she didn't deny it. Instead, she smiled and said, "Brother Qiang, don't worry, he can't run away."

After seeing Wang Qiang off, Li Hao's life returned to its busy pace.

While focusing on his doctoral research, he began to plan the layout of New Star Investment in the United States.

His daily schedule is almost fully packed, but in his occasional free time, he will be with Liu Xia.

One evening, Li Hao was looking up information in the UCB library when Liu Xia suddenly pushed the door open with two cups of coffee in her hands.

She sat down next to Li Hao and handed him a cup of coffee: "You've been so busy these days that you haven't even had time to eat. Let me give you some energy."

Li Hao took the coffee and smiled. "Thank you, Xiaoxia. I've been a bit overwhelmed lately. Research is going smoothly, but the layout of New Star Investment is still a little stuck and some details are not yet sorted out."

Liu Xia took a sip of coffee and turned her head to look at him. "How about we find some time to go over this in detail? Don't always push yourself. There are some things I can help with."

Li Hao nodded, a hint of warmth in his eyes. "Well, you're still reliable. I've put together a few plans over the past two days. I'll show them to you when the time comes, and you can help me find any flaws."

Liu Xia raised the corners of her mouth slightly, with a hint of teasing in her tone: "That won't work. My fees are very high. If I help you choose a plan, you should at least treat me to a meal."

Li Hao smiled and said, "Okay! You choose the place and eat as much as you want."

The two chatted and laughed, and the atmosphere became particularly relaxed. Liu Xia was also touched when she saw Li Hao carefully reading the documents.

She knew that this man was not only ambitious in his career, but also had never been perfunctory towards her.

A few days later, Liu Xia came to Li Hao's apartment to find him. As soon as she entered the door, she saw Li Hao's desk full of documents and computers. He was staring at the screen with a frown on his brow.

Liu Xia walked over and patted him on the shoulder: "What's wrong? Is it stuck again?"

Li Hao turned his head and sighed helplessly, "I can't believe how I adjust the details of a data model. It keeps seeming to have problems. It's driving me crazy."

Liu Xia thought for a moment and said, "How about we change our thinking? Don't you always say that changing your mindset can solve many problems? Let me help you sort out your logic."

As she spoke, she grabbed a pen and began to write and draw on the whiteboard. The two of them discussed together, and before they knew it, the problem seemed to be coming to light.

After solving the problem, Li Hao looked at the analysis on the whiteboard and couldn't help but smile: "Xiaoxia, you really saved my life this time."

Liu Xia waved her hand casually: "You're welcome. Helping you is my job."

Li Hao stared at her and suddenly said seriously, "Xiaoxia, sometimes I really feel that meeting you is the greatest luck in my life."

Liu Xia was stunned by this, but then she smiled widely: "Li Hao, you are getting better and better at speaking."

The air at the end of the year was filled with a hint of festive spirit. Though in the United States, Li Hao's heart was still longing for the festive atmosphere of his homeland. One evening, Li Hao was curled up on the sofa, flipping through his phone's calendar, thinking about his return trip to China this year. He looked up, his eyes falling on Liu Xia, who was busy chopping fruit in the kitchen, and a smile played on his lips.

"Hey, Xiaoxia," he asked tentatively, "What are your plans for the New Year this year?"

Liu Xia came out with a cup of hot tea, put the cup on the coffee table, and sat down next to Li Hao: "What other plans do I have? I guess I'll just spend time with my dad via video, and then have something to celebrate the New Year." Her tone was relaxed, but there was a hint of loneliness in her words.

Li Hao looked at her, his eyes becoming serious: "How about coming home with me for the New Year this year?"

Liu Xia was stunned, nearly spilling the tea in her cup. "What did you say? Go back to your home?" Her voice was half a pitch higher than usual, with a hint of uncertainty and panic. "Li Hao, this isn't appropriate... I mean, what kind of status is this?"

Seeing her like this, Li Hao couldn't help but laugh and said half-jokingly, "What identity? My parents have always wanted to meet you. They know you are my partner and also... a special friend."

"A special friend?" Liu Xia lowered her head and took a sip of tea, trying to hide her awkwardness. Her face felt a little hot, her heartbeat quickening slightly, and her mind raced: Going back to his house? Meeting his parents? Does this mean our relationship is about to take a step forward? But am I really ready?

She raised her head, looked at Li Hao, and asked calmly, "Li Hao, don't make fun of me. I won't just go for such a big thing."

Li Hao's smile faded a little, and his tone became gentle and serious: "Xiaoxia, I'm not joking. I'm serious. We've known each other for such a long time, and you're a very important person to me. I also want my family to know you and know that I have such an outstanding person by my side. Are you willing?"

Liu Xia's heart trembled. She hadn't imagined Li Hao would make such a request, but now that it had finally come to this, she couldn't calm down. She lowered her head, staring at the steam rising from her teacup, a complex mix of emotions swirling within her: Was it really time for her to take this step? Going back to meet his parents wouldn't just be an explanation to them, it would also be a promise to herself.

After a moment's silence, she raised her head, her tone light with a hint of relief: "Li Hao, have you already made up your mind? Are you just waiting for my nod of approval?"

Li Hao looked at her with warmth in his eyes: "I just respect your decision. Whether you agree or not, I won't force you."

Liu Xia smiled, her eyes softening. "Okay then. But you have to tell me in advance what your parents like. I don't want them to have a bad impression of me."

Li Hao's eyes flashed with cunning, and he said with a smile: "Don't worry, my parents like daughter-in-law like you the most."

Liu Xia almost spit out the tea in her mouth when she heard this: "Li Hao! You are such a jerk! Can't you be more serious? Can't you just talk nicely?"

Li Hao spread his hands out, looking innocent. "I'm telling the truth. How about this? You prepare the gifts, and I'll arrange the itinerary. We can work together to ensure everything goes smoothly."

Liu Xia glared at him, but the blush on her face became even more obvious. "Alright, I'll do as you say. But you have to let me know in advance. I don't want to embarrass myself on the spot."

Li Hao said sternly, "Xiaoxia, don't worry, my parents will definitely like you. Also, I will always stand by your side."

This sentence warmed Liu Xia's heart, and a smile unconsciously appeared on the corner of her mouth: "Li Hao, you are getting better and better at speaking. But... thank you."

The two exchanged smiles, and the atmosphere in the room suddenly lightened. Although Liu Xia was still a little nervous, she had already quietly accepted the plan. This decision was more than just a chance to meet the parents; it was also a crucial confirmation of their relationship.

Li Hao held her hand and said softly, "Xiaoxia, let's go home together and have a happy New Year."

Liu Xia lowered her head, smiled, and nodded gently: "Okay."

Time flew by and it was the end of the year. Li Hao arranged his doctoral courses and research projects in advance, squeezed out a week for himself, and returned to Jingbei City, Daxia, ahead of Liu Xia.

He did not go home immediately, but returned to the office of New Star Investment first.

Most employees have already started preparing for the Spring Festival holiday, but Li Hao's appearance still surprised everyone.

"Boss, didn't you say you were going home for the New Year? Why are you still here at the company?" Ji Shuqiang was the first to come forward.

Li Hao smiled, holding a few red envelopes in his hand, and handed one to Ji Shuqiang: "Why? Can't you go back to the company to see what's going on? Also, this is your red envelope this year, take it!"

Ji Shuqiang took the red envelope, weighed it, and couldn't help laughing: "This feels... It's quite heavy, Boss, are you going to get rich this year?"

Xu Lei, who was standing next to him, came over, took his red envelope, and patted Ji Shuqiang on the shoulder: "Do you even need to ask? The boss is always generous. This is our boss's style."

Li Hao smiled and said, "I know everyone has worked very hard this year, so this little gift is just a reward. We have big plans for next year, so we have to keep working hard."

He looked around and saw his team members holding red envelopes with smiles on their faces, and he felt satisfied.

Although everyone is a wealthy person, this sense of ritual still makes the whole team more cohesive.

After finishing his work at the company, Li Hao finally set out on his journey home.

This time, he deliberately returned to Daxia a week earlier, not only to reunite with his family, but also to give his parents a surprise.

Last year, he bought a new house in northern Beijing. After it was renovated, he didn't tell them about it. He planned to take them to see it during the Chinese New Year.

After arriving home, Li Hao exchanged a few pleasantries with his parents before casually asking, "Dad, Mom, do you want to celebrate the New Year somewhere else this year?"

Father Li was stunned for a moment: "Change place? What do you mean? Do you have any plans?"

Li Hao smiled mysteriously: "You will know if you follow me."

The two of them were intrigued by him and followed him all the way to an upscale residential area.

When Li Hao took out the key and opened the door, Li's mother opened her eyes wide in surprise: "This...is this a new house?"

"Yes, I bought it last year. After the decoration is completed, I will take you to move in during the New Year." Li Hao said as he pulled them in to have a look.

The house is spacious and bright, with simple and elegant decoration, and every detail is thoughtful.

Mother Li stroked the armrest of the sofa, her eyes moist. "Haohao, why didn't you tell me in advance? This house is so nice, and you've been running around all by yourself, putting so much thought into it. Thank you for your hard work."

Li Hao gently put his arm around her shoulders: "Mom, don't say that. This is what I should do. You can live here from now on. It will be more comfortable."

Father Li couldn't help but nod, "Well, this house is really nice. Okay, Xiaohao, you're thoughtful."

A few days later, Li Hao went to the airport to pick up Liu Xia.

As soon as they met, Liu Xia couldn't help but tease him: "I thought you would come to the United States to pick me up, but you waited until the last day to come here to meet me. You're not sincere enough."

Li Hao took her luggage with a smile: "How can there be a last day? This is just in time. Let's go to our new home first and meet my parents."

Upon hearing this, Liu Xia slowed down her pace and asked nervously, "Li Hao, am I...well prepared enough?"

Li Hao raised his hand and tapped her head gently: "Xiaoxia, you are usually so confident in negotiations, why are you so scared now? Don't worry, my parents will definitely like you."

When he got home, Li Hao's parents had been waiting for a long time.

As soon as she saw Liu Xia, Aunt Li greeted her warmly: "You are Liu Xia, right? Haohao often mentioned you at home. It's really nice to see you in person."

Liu Xia felt a little embarrassed and bowed politely: "Hello, Uncle and Auntie. This is a little gift for you two. I hope you like it."

Father Li accepted the gift and nodded with satisfaction. "You're welcome, Xiaoxia. Please sit down. There's no need to be so restrained in our house. By the way, how are your studies going in the United States?"
