After rebirth, I gave up Bai Yueguang

Chapter 4 It’s different

On a hot afternoon, a few boys huddled on the sofa, watching a movie. The curtains were drawn, and the teenage boys were full of passion.

Jiang Yi was a little absent-minded today. He was lying alone on the single sofa, with his long legs raised high and resting on the back of the sofa. From time to time, he glanced at the graduation photo he had just brought back from the coffee table. It was unknown what he was thinking.

Since when did Su Jing start to feel different? I couldn't pinpoint what had changed, but I felt she'd become prettier and more feminine. Or maybe she hadn't changed at all, but was just a bit of a slut. She didn't mind being pursued, but now that they weren't chasing her anymore, she felt uncomfortable.

He couldn't figure out when he started constantly searching for her, but Jiang Yi was certain it wasn't a romantic attraction. She wasn't pretty enough, nor was she refined enough. She was fine as a brother, but not a girlfriend. She was too fierce.

Jiang Yi suddenly stood up, turned off the VCD, and walked to the bathroom, saying, "I won't watch it today."

Seeing his grim expression, several people didn't wait for him to come out of the bathroom. They just said hello and left. When he came out of the bathroom, the living room was empty. Jiang Yi sat down heavily on the sofa and watched the TV for a while. Then he reached for the remote control and turned it on. He clicked a few channels, found it boring, and turned on the VCD.

Jiang Yi stared at the screen, but his eyes seemed to penetrate the screen... At the age of sixteen, the tadpole spent more time thinking than he did.

He closed his eyes, and the curvaceous figure was before him, the jawline taut, the neck curved, the Adam's apple rolling... After a moment, a long, muffled groan... The room fell silent. After another moment, he opened his eyes and tiredly searched for a tissue.

Half-leaning on the sofa for a while, Jiang Yi looked down, snorted softly, a smile seemed to flash across the corner of his mouth, he stood up, threw away the paper ball in his hand, and went to the bathroom.

After having dinner at his grandmother's house, Jiang Yi wandered aimlessly along the familiar streets.

Walking past the hot pot restaurant, the barber shop, and the church...

All kinds of sounds came into my ears: quarrels, hawking, cursing, and children crying after being beaten...

It seems very close, yet very far away, as if there is a bubble containing him, isolating him from these people and these voices. He can see and hear them, but they have nothing to do with him.

Jiang Yi didn't end this boring circle movement until there were fewer and fewer people on the street and the noise became quieter.

The alley on the way home was very quiet, and he was alone. A terrible idea suddenly popped into his mind! He suddenly leaned against the wall and stood in the shadows.

The clacking sound of high heels approached, and Jiang Yi's heartbeat began to speed up. But the closer the sound got, the more he felt that the rhythm of the walking was a little familiar, like the rhythm of the swinging ponytail.

But at this time, Jiang Yi looked at the watch. It was past 12 o'clock and she should have been asleep.

Ta-ta, ta-ta. A figure stretched out very long by the streetlights had already walked in front of him.

Jiang Yi heard his heartbeat become faster and heavier, beating against his chest, heavy and dull.

The shadow of the street lamp stretched out, and his feet had already stepped in front of him. Jiang Yi took a step and walked out of the shadow where he was invisible.

"Ah!" A woman's low exclamation sounded at the same time.

The moment he heard the voice, Jiang Yi froze for half a second. What was he going to do? What should he do?

When Jiang Yi hesitated, he heard the woman exclaim "Huh".

Reason suddenly came back to him, and he raised his eyes. It was really...

"Su Jing?!" Jiang Yi shouted uncertainly.

She wore flared jeans, a white shirt, and a black vest underneath, revealing a small, white waist. She looked simple yet attractive.

This... Jiang Yi's heart skipped a beat, and a tingling sensation spread across his skin.

However, the moment he called out Su Jing's name, a terrible thought suddenly popped up in his mind, and disappeared as suddenly as it appeared.

"Didn't you recognize me? Were you scared?" Su Jing asked with a smile when she saw his strange expression.

"Oh, no, oh, yes."

"Tsk, is that true?" Su Jing laughed.

"Aren't you afraid of running into gangsters at this late hour? Or ghosts?"

"Rogue?" Su Jing laughed and said, "Who's afraid of who?" Then she spread out her hand and proudly showed him the black iron ring on her finger.

It wasn't one of those punk-style decorative rings, but a pointed black iron ring designed for fighting.

"You..." Jiang Yi was speechless. There must be a reason why he couldn't like this girl. It was so scary!

"Why did you come home just now? Did you go to the bar?" Jiang Yi guessed the answer based on Su Jing's appearance.

"Ah."

"If you didn't drink at the bar, then why did you go?" Jiang Yi moved his nose, but didn't smell any alcohol. He felt a little bit unbelievable.

Su Jing raised her eyebrow and glanced at him sideways, "Go to work, young master, is everyone like you?"

"Go to work! What kind of work? You're not going to be a hostess, are you?" Jiang Yi's eyes widened, and he felt a mixture of disbelief, pity, and dissatisfaction.

"Tsk, you've been fooling around too much!" Su Jing was a little angry.

"Then you..." Jiang Yi asked again, but was interrupted by Su Jing before he could finish his words.

"When did you start working at the Salt Administration?" Su Jing asked.

"Huh?" Jiang Yi was stunned, then immediately understood what Su Jing was implying, "No, no, I'm just curious. I've never seen you dressed like this before.

She thought for a second and said, "Come on, buy me a midnight snack and let's find a place to sit and talk. My feet hurt so much."

The two found a nearby braised food stall with no customers and sat down. Jiang Yi ordered beer, braised dishes and grilled skewers.

There were no other customers. The chubby stall owner, whose skin seemed to be constantly oozing oil, quickly brought beer and braised dishes and swiftly opened several bottles of wine. He said, "Eat slowly."

The two of them sat on a small stool. Su Jing ate a piece of braised meat and pouted, "No wonder there are no customers."

"Not tasty?" Jiang Yi also took a piece, chewed it twice and said, "It's really not that good."

Looking up, Su Jing was looking at him with a gentle expression. Facing her undisguised gaze of love, Jiang Yi actually felt a little shy and pretended not to notice her gaze.

He poured some wine, rinsed the glass, dumped it out, and then poured two more glasses, pushing one of them in front of Su Jing. He didn't know if Su Jing could drink, so he didn't say anything else.

"Why do you go to work?" Jiang Yi asked cautiously.

Just now, he blurted out the word "sitting platform", which seemed to make Su Jing feel offended. So, he changed the way of asking.

"It's about making money." Su Jing took a sip of beer and said, "It's bitter, I don't know what's good about it." He smiled again and said, "Those who say beer is horse urine, have you ever tried it yourself?"

His long eyelashes fluttered, and Jiang Yi felt as if a feather was caressing his heart, a subtle itch spreading across his body. Then, he raised his hand and called to the chubby stall owner, "Get me a Coke."

Su Jing looked up at him. After two lives, his face was still unmatched. Perhaps it was just this appearance that she loved.

Her eyes were complicated. Jiang Yi thought that what he asked was still inappropriate, so he explained: "Ah, I didn't mean anything else."

Su Jing smiled and said, "My dad's factory was ripped off by someone and he owes a lot of money. I'm trying to earn tuition money."

So, Jiang Yi felt relieved. He thought of something else and asked again, "Waiter, there's no need to put on so much paint, right?"

The stall owner had already brought out the Coke. Jiang Yi took it, unscrewed the lid, and exchanged it for her beer.

Su Jing raised her eyes and asked, "Do you think I'm going to be a prostitute to sell my smile or my body?"

"Ah, no," Jiang Yi added awkwardly: "If you become a hostess, others will believe it, but I won't! You have a bad temper, and..." She's not pretty enough, he didn't say it out loud.

Su Jing patted the large bag beside her and said, "Not pretty enough, huh? Look, I'm going to perform. Waitress wages are too low, and I can't save enough for tuition in two months, and I also need to pay for my painting training."

A cool breeze blew by, and a string in Jiang Yi's heart moved, very lightly, so lightly that he didn't notice it.

"What kind of performance? Singing? Or leading a dance?"

"No, I'm a model. I walk two shows every day now."

His eyes quickly swept over Su Jing from head to toe, as if he could see through her, and Jiang Yi seemed to be thinking about something.

"Then why do you come back so late every day? Are you really not afraid of gangsters or ghosts?" He asked the question again.

"I'm afraid of gangsters, that's why I carry weapons," Su Jing once again showed the fighting ring on her finger, "but I'm not afraid of ghosts."

She paused, took the half-empty glass of beer that had been placed far away and poured it into the Coke bottle. She shook it gently, took a sip, and then said, "It's not so sweet this way."

"Have you ever heard a saying?" she asked.

"what?"

“Every ghost you’re afraid of is someone others want to see but never get to see.”

Jiang Yi was stunned for a moment and nodded slightly.

"I'm not a timid person, you know. Ever since I heard that, I've become even less afraid. Sometimes I even hope that there really are ghosts in this world, and that there really is an underworld after death. That way, we'll never lose the ones we love. Every death is just a brief separation of an indeterminate duration. The one we love is in another world, living a stable life, waiting for our arrival."

Su Jing stared into his eyes intently and lovingly, as if talking to herself, "It's good to know that he is still doing well in this parallel world."

Jiang Yi couldn't understand the melancholy on her face. He just felt that her eyes seemed to be looking at him, but it seemed not to be him, an indescribable strange feeling.

"Do you wear so little when you perform?" Jiang Yi asked.

Men are strange. When they see women who have nothing to do with them, they want them to wear as little as possible. But when it comes to women who are related to them, they think they should be wrapped up like dumplings. Although he didn't accept Su Jing, he had unknowingly considered her his property after years of pursuing her.

Now, thinking about the old men she faced every day, who were drunk, full of dirty talk, bald, and had big bellies, Jiang Yi felt uncomfortable in every way.

"How much does your tuition and painting training cost?"

"What? You give it to me?" Su Jing raised her eyebrows and looked at Jiang Yi.

"Ah? Sure." He didn't expect Su Jing to say that. He was stunned for a moment and said in a firm tone.

"Tsk." Su Jing raised her eyelids and raised her eyebrows slightly.

Jiang Yi didn't say anything. He looked at her, his expression asking, "What else?"

"Yes, your money?" She asked back with a curl of her lips, revealing some barely perceptible contempt.

Mr. Jiang's expression changed, and he lowered his eyes to look at the ground. Su Jing's feet, clad in thin-strap sandals, were crossed. Her toes were small, her ankles slender, and they shone a shimmering white in the light.

"This foot is so beautiful, like white jade. It's her foot. I should touch it. It should be okay." In an instant, ponies were running in Jiang Yi's mind again.

The night grew deeper and the stall owner yawned.

Su Jing yawned and smiled at him, saying, "Mr. Jiang, please settle the bill."

Jiang Yi paid the bill, stood up, and reached out to help her carry the bag.

"No, it's not heavy. I can't afford Mr. Jiang's service. What if he asks me to pay a tip later?"

"Tsk," Jiang Yi snorted, "Are you crazy?" He knew she was joking.

Su Jing still didn't let him carry the bag. Jiang Yi just accompanied her to the gate of the compound. Watching Su Jing turn around, his heartbeat matched the rhythm of her walking.
