It took Su Jing a minute to figure out the reality of the situation, and then she started packing up and preparing to move again.

In a few days, three months' rent will be due. My stay here was so short that, besides sleeping, I only occasionally cooked noodles and fried eggs. I only owned a rice cooker and kettle, and all the furniture belonged to the landlord, so there wasn't much to pack.

In less than an hour, the two of them had packed everything. Jiang Yi glanced at the packed items with a sense of accomplishment and said, "You go find the landlord, I'll go call the driver." His tone was completely that of a big boss.

"Ha." Su Jing chuckled and said, "Okay." The two then went their separate ways.

The landlord lived in another courtyard, just a five-minute walk away, and was home on Sundays. Su Jing explained the situation, and the landlord couldn't say much. Her safety was paramount, of course. She had no trouble canceling the lease, only being asked to pay an extra month's utility bill. Utilities weren't expensive at the time, and she didn't have any other appliances, so she readily gave him an extra fifty yuan and returned the 100 yuan deposit.

After leaving the landlord's house, I felt a little hungry. Then I remembered that the guy had chased me to pack up my things since I opened my eyes, and I hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch. Now that I finished my work, I immediately felt very hungry.

Looking at the time, it was past three, neither too early nor too late. What should I eat? Su Jing looked around and saw that the only thing she could eat was noodles. But if she took them home, they wouldn't taste good, so she decided to buy a pack of biscuits or something to make do with until dinner.

Su Jing dragged herself back like a lazy cat, not knowing if Jiang Yi had returned. As she chewed her biscuits and thought about what happened last night, a feeling of happiness, of being valued, gradually spread through her heart, a feeling of being touched that spread like ripples.

This feeling, like a long thread connecting time, reminded her of her past life, when she retrieved from his belongings the love letters she had cherished and the gifts she had carefully selected for him.

I originally thought that I was just a grain of sand in his world, never seen by anyone. But in the end, I found that the person I loved deeply also regarded me as a treasure.

Su Jing felt a surge of pain in her heart again, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Why was he treating me like this now? If I had been able to get along with him differently in my past life, would everything have changed the same way it does now? How would it have turned out?

Su Jing fell into a dead end of what-ifs again. Damn it, she cursed herself for having a brain problem and thinking about these hypothetical things that hadn't happened. It would be better to be a real silly teenage girl just like in her previous life.

When they returned to the rental house, Jiang Yi was already waiting at the door. Su Jing handed him the water in her hand. He took it and drank half of it directly, then sighed, "Oh, I actually forgot to drink water. I almost died of thirst."

Su Jing handed over another biscuit and said, "Would you like to have a few? You must be hungry too, right?"

He glanced at the cookies, looking a bit disgusted. After a moment's thought, he reached out and said, "Now that you mention it, I seem to be really hungry." He took two cookies and put them in his mouth, swallowing them in two gulps. It seemed a bit dry, so he drank the remaining half bottle of water and said, "It's too dry. I won't eat it anymore." After that, he made way and asked Su Jing to open the door.

The two waited in the room for over half an hour before the driver arrived. As he came out with the items, the neighbors pretended to be doing their work without paying attention. Su Jing glanced at their faces with the corner of her eyes, without giving them any extra expression.

As soon as Su Jing walked out the door, several elderly women, as if they had received an order, simultaneously dropped their work and ran after her in small, quick steps. They stopped at the door and stuck their heads out to look. Seeing them putting things into a black Mercedes-Benz, they quickly returned to the yard and stood there, as if worried that Su Jing would suddenly turn around and see them.

A few minutes later, until someone took small steps to the door and stuck his head out again, and confirmed that the car had left, several families started discussing in the yard.

"This Su Jing doesn't look like she comes from a wealthy family. She rents a house here with us. She wears either school uniform or jeans every day and eats steamed buns and instant noodles. How come there is a car like this to pick her up?" Aunt Cai said.

"She was also delivered in this car when she moved in. I saw the little boy there at that time," said Uncle Chen's wife.

"Could she be a girl from a wealthy family who ran away because she was angry with her parents?" Aunt Cai said.

"It doesn't look like that. If she came out in a fit of anger, she would at least bring some nice clothes with her. When have you ever seen her wear nice clothes?" said Sister Xu.

"Yes, yes, that boy is dressed well. You can tell at a glance that his clothes are very expensive," said Uncle Chen's wife.

"That little boy looks like a rich young man. He's really good-looking and has a great figure, wow!" Sister Xu is only in her thirties, and her focus is very different from the two elderly aunts with grandchildren. "I think she must be an orphan with no parents, and a rich young man is chasing her."

"This boy is more handsome than her and richer, will he pursue her?

"Now that you mention it, it does look a bit like it, how about..."

A few housewives were chatting seriously when a voice suddenly interrupted Aunt Cai from the back: "Humph, what rich family? I think she's relying on her vixen-like appearance to seduce rich people."

The three of them turned around and saw Shi Dawei's wife leaning against the door frame of her house, with her hands folded and a look of anticipation on her face, saying that they didn't know how long she had been standing there or watching.

Shi Dawei was taken to the police station yesterday and, after questioning, sent directly to the detention center. No one noticed when his wife returned home. Now that everyone saw her speak, they exchanged glances, then undisguised expressions of disdain for the workers. They uttered a "Pah" (pooh) in the middle of the yard, then turned and went home, deliberately slamming the door shut with great force.

Shi Dawei's wife's face changed, and she opened her mouth to curse. But she stopped before she could curse, rolled her eyes, and said "Pooh" fiercely in the middle of the yard, then turned around and went home, closing the door firmly.

Su Jing got into the back seat and saw the neighbors return to the yard. Then she turned back to Jiang Yi in the passenger seat and said, "By the way, did you help me rent a house so quickly? Did you ask that Brother Lin for help?"

Jiang Yi turned and stared at her, looking at her as if she were a fool. "With the sudden situation yesterday, I'm not a prophet, how could I have helped you rent a house in advance?"

"Yeah, so where do you want me to move to now? It can't really be your home, right?" Su Jing woke up and patted his forehead.

"It's my home." Jiang Yi said as a matter of course, and then said to the driver: "Uncle Li, go home."

The driver nodded slightly, started the car, and glanced at Su Jing in the rearview mirror from time to time with a knowing smile in his eyes.

"Ah!" Su Jing screamed. She had just said it casually at the time and hadn't taken it seriously at all. It had been a few months and she had completely forgotten about it. She didn't expect this guy to take it seriously and now actually drag her home. She suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"You're not going to let me live in your house! You really want me to live in your house!" Su Jing leaned forward, hugged the back of the passenger seat with both hands, stretched her neck and anxiously asked him for confirmation.

"Of course it's true." Jiang Yi's tone was also very affirmative and calm.

"Fuck!" Su Jing blurted out. The driver's eyes were shocked. He looked at her in the rearview mirror, then looked at Jiang Yi and continued driving.

Jiang Yi raised his eyebrows at him, smiling, "I'm serious. I've also told my mother about this. She heard that I was able to pass the exam because of your hard work, and she's very willing for you to live in her house. I've asked your aunt to come early this afternoon to clean up the room." Before she could ask any more questions, Jiang Yi told her the answers she wanted to ask.

Su Jing wanted to say more, but when she looked up and saw the driver looking at her, she immediately shut up. She gave Jiang Yi a helpless fake smile, leaned back in her chair, and closed her eyes. She had to think about why she had obediently packed up her things and moved with him without asking any questions.

The driver helped carry the things into the living room, looked at Su Jing meaningfully, smiled, said something and left.

The aunt was in the kitchen. She heard the noise and came out. When she saw Su Jing, she was surprised for a moment, but she just said that the room had been cleaned and she was cooking. She asked if there was anything she particularly wanted to eat or didn't want to eat.

Jiang Yi told the aunt to do whatever she wanted, and Su Jing smiled and said it was up to her. As the aunt turned and went into the kitchen, she glanced at Su Jing again.

"Sit down for a while, have a glass of water, and then you can go pick a room." Jiang Yi had already handed a bottle of iced black tea to her. Su Jing took it without hesitation and sat on the sofa.

"The one upstairs is next to me," Jiang Yi paused, grinning mischievously, then nodded towards the kitchen and whispered, "The other one is downstairs, where she used to live. Everything has been changed, you can take a look later."

"I live downstairs." Su Jing confirmed it as soon as he finished speaking.

And in her heart, she still felt a little uncomfortable. She knew Jiang Yi wouldn't charge her rent. Living downstairs, she could get up early and make breakfast for them and do some housework. Moreover, she still had to keep her distance from him. This way of getting along was really abnormal.

"Okay, then let's go downstairs." Jiang Yi knew what she was thinking and didn't say much.

"Also," Su Jing turned his face seriously, looked into his eyes and said seriously, "Don't let anyone else know that I live in your house."

"Oh, okay." Jiang Yi was also very straightforward and didn't bother to ask her why.

Su Jing has never been a fussy person. After the important matter was finalized, she stood up, waved, tilted her head at him, and said without being polite to him, "Move in." The two of them moved the luggage into the house downstairs.

Auntie also came out with some food and called out, "It's time to eat."

"Isn't your mother coming back for dinner?" Sitting at the table, Su Jing didn't rush to pick up her chopsticks. She had to find out the situation first.

"She has a mahjong date today, so she won't be back early. Don't worry about her." He pushed the bowl towards her and said, "Put everything away quickly after you finish eating. You have to get up early tomorrow."
