Chapter 54: Heading to the Sealed Land
After meticulous and exhaustive research, we finally determined the general direction from the tattered and illegible diary and the simple and crude map. It was a mysterious place hidden deep in the mountains, far away from the town we were in. It seemed to be a mysterious realm isolated from the world, heavily guarded by the rugged terrain of nature.
"We must set off as soon as possible, without even a moment's delay." Luo Chen's expression was solemn and serious, his eyes revealing an unquestionable determination. He knew that every passing moment could bring the evil closer to the dangerous treasure.
I nodded in agreement without hesitation, and we quickly packed our bags and embarked on this journey full of unknowns and dangers with the little boy. Although the little boy was still young and filled with fear, he seemed to sense that we were embarking on a matter of great importance, so he didn't cry and just followed us closely.
We slowly advanced along a winding path that resembled the coils of a giant python. The scenery grew increasingly precipitous as we advanced. Towering peaks rose one after another, like majestic giants, towering above us, the tiny intruders, looking down from above. The path was rugged and difficult to navigate, strewn with rocks of varying sizes and shapes, like obstacles set by nature. Deep ravines, like the earth's gaping mouth, stood ready to devour anyone who stumbled.
"Everyone, be careful with your steps." I raised my voice from time to time to remind everyone, and my eyes kept scanning the bumpy road, not daring to slack off in the slightest.
Luo Chen, holding his wand, walked cautiously ahead, using his wand like a sharp detector to carefully detect any potential dangers around him. Suddenly, his steps came to a halt, and he quickly raised his wand, as if he had sensed some huge threat.
"There's a scent of a magic trap ahead." He lowered his voice and said nervously, with a hint of vigilance in his voice.
We approached cautiously, feeling uneasy. We saw some strange runes on the ground, glowing faintly like stars in the night sky. They were the signs of a magic trap, emitting a mysterious and dangerous aura.
"I'll crack it." Luo Chen volunteered.
He took a deep breath, then slowly closed his eyes, concentrating completely on breaking the magic trap. He seemed to be cut off from the world around him, his entire body and mind immersed in the struggle against the magic trap. I, on the other hand, gripped my sword tightly, watching the surroundings with the vigilance of a hawk, my eyes sharp as a hawk's, not missing a single corner that might pounce. Time seemed to freeze, each second passing incredibly slowly. After a long moment, Luo Chen slowly opened his eyes. By then, beads of sweat covered his forehead, and those beads, like crystal pearls, slowly trickled down his cheeks.
"Okay, the trap has been lifted." He breathed a sigh of relief, as if he had completed a difficult task.
We continued towards our destination. As we went deeper into the mountains, the weather turned inclement, as if under a spell. A howling wind swept in, its sound like the roar of a demon, and icy raindrops lashed us like countless sharp arrows, each drop carrying a biting chill.
"Let's find a place to take shelter." I shouted loudly, the rain pouring into my mouth, making my voice a little unclear.
We looked around and luckily found a cave, so we quickly ran towards it and took shelter inside. The cave was a little damp, filled with a stale, decaying smell, and the ground was wet, but compared to the torrential rain outside, it was a good refuge. The little boy was exhausted after all this ordeal, his face full of weariness, and he leaned against the corner of the cave and fell asleep unknowingly.
"I'm afraid the weather won't improve anytime soon. We have to think of a way." Luo Chen said with a frown as he looked at the pouring rain outside the cave. The rain was like a huge curtain of water, completely blocking out the outside world.
"I'll go find some dry branches around here, maybe we can start a fire to keep warm," I volunteered.
I cautiously exited the cave. The wind and rain outside suddenly rushed towards me. I struggled to keep my footing and began searching for branches nearby. Fortunately, after a careful search, I found some relatively dry branches. While searching, I also stumbled upon some edible wild fruits. I happily carried these back to the cave. Seeing this, Luo Chen used magic to ignite the branches.
The warm firelight danced joyfully in the cave, its flickering light like a beacon of hope, dispelling the cold and darkness and making us feel a little more comfortable. We ate some wild fruits, the sour and sweet flavor spreading in our mouths, replenishing our tired bodies. Then we rested for a while in the cave, waiting for the rain to ease before setting out again.
After several days of arduous, arduous, and often arduous journeys, we finally reached our destination. From afar, an ancient and mysterious castle stood, like a long-sleeping giant, emanating a time-worn and mysterious aura. A thick fog enveloped the castle, like a white veil, adding to its mystique.
"That should be the place where the treasure is sealed." Luo Chen said with certainty, his eyes fixed on the castle, his eyes full of anticipation and vigilance.
We walked towards the castle with determined steps. The closer we got, the stronger the feeling of mystery and oppression grew. The mysterious atmosphere was like an invisible barrier, oppressing our nerves. When we reached the castle gate, it was tightly closed, like a silent guardian, keeping us at a distance. The gate was engraved with various complex and mysterious runes, like ancient codes, containing endless secrets.
"These runes seem to be used to seal the castle. It may not be easy to open them." I looked at the runes on the door carefully and said solemnly.
Luo Chen also stepped forward, his eyes carefully wandering over the runes, trying to find a way to open the door from these complex rune patterns. The little boy watched curiously, his eyes filled with a desire to explore the unknown, and his bright eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"I think I've found a way." Luo Chen's eyes suddenly lit up and he said excitedly.
He began carefully touching the runes in a specific order. With each contact of his fingers, a mysterious vibration seemed to permeate the air. As he moved, the gate slowly opened, and an ancient and mysterious aura filled us. That aura was like a call from the ancient times. We took a deep breath, and then stepped into the castle with awe, heading towards the place where the treasure might be.
