The King of Xiuxianjuan returns to modern times and becomes a landlord
Chapter 84: Youdu
"This Youdu is completely different from the description in the legend?" Miao Yimo stared at the gloomy scene in front of him, which was completely different from what he knew beforehand.
Bai Fan strode forward with a resolute stride, his head held high. He took a deep breath, concentrated his mind, and summoned his life-defining weapon—the Tai Chi Yin-Yang fan imbued with mysterious power. The fan seemed to come alive in his hands, the Yin-Yang pattern on its surface slowly spinning, emitting an ancient and mysterious aura.
He gripped the fan handle tightly, feeling the familiar power coursing through his body. Bai Fan took a deep breath, staring straight ahead, then swung the fan vigorously, pouring all his internal energy into it. The fan drew a graceful arc through the air, whistling with the sound of wind as it sped towards the plaque of Youdu.
The fan and the plaque met in mid-air, and the formations between them instantly engaged in several rounds of fierce clashes. The power of the Tai Chi Yin-Yang fan and the energy of the plaque collided, erupting in a dazzling burst of light. The surrounding air seemed to tremble, and the surrounding scenery became blurred.
After a fierce battle, the energy within the plaque was finally exhausted, as if it had lost all its power and became dim. And after completing this attack, the Tai Chi Yin-Yang Fan was also blown away by the powerful recoil, spinning back into Bai Fan's hands. Bai Fan caught the fan steadily, feeling the familiar vibration, and a satisfied smile appeared on his lips.
As the formation on the plaque gradually dissipated, the ground began to shake, and the haze that had previously shrouded the crowd dissipated, revealing the true face of Youdu. It was an ancient and mysterious city, with shops lining the streets, staggered and arranged along dark, narrow alleys. Most of these shops were built of bluestone, and a variety of lanterns hung from their lintels, emitting a soft glow that added a touch of eerie and enchanting color to this gloomy area.
Looking out, the cultivators in the shops were dressed in Taoist robes, holding magical instruments, their demeanors solemn. Some spoke in low voices, while others closed their eyes to rest, seemingly searching for some precious resource for cultivation. Ghosts and monsters took on various forms, some clad in black robes and possessed terrifying features, while others transformed into wisps of green smoke, drifting ethereally. They cautiously moved among the cultivators, occasionally stopping to engage in silent transactions with one. The goblins, on the other hand, were more lively, with graceful figures, affectionate gazes, and occasional melodious laughter, attracting the attention of passersby.
The streets stretched out before Ying Ni and the others, bustling with activity. Humans, demons, ghosts, and otherworldly beasts—all kinds of creatures mingled, each pursuing their own joys. Demon leaders, clad in heavy armor and wielding massive hammers, appeared imposing and majestic; while ghosts, transformed into beautiful women, captivated passersby with captivating smiles. Amidst this chaos, the ghosts of the underworld patrolled the streets, maintaining order and ensuring that this murky underworld, despite its chaos, maintained a strange harmony.
Looking out over the panoramic view of Youdu, the street lights appear particularly bright. The lights from the shops and the stars above reflect each other, making the city look like a dream.
"Let's go, you must follow me closely. There are all kinds of people here, including some evil cultivators." Ying Li waved her hand and took back the hidden spells from Gu Yanqing and several others, revealing their guide marks.
Ying Ni stepped into the street, followed closely by Bai Fan and Di Xin, while Gu Yanqing and others protected Mu Ya at the core and moved forward together.
Ying Ni and her group weaved through the bustling streets. Ghostly figures would occasionally drift silently by on either side of the street, crossing paths with hurried pedestrians, as if separated by an invisible boundary, preventing them from interfering with each other.
A faint chill hung in the air, mingled with an indescribable fragrance that made one's heart palpitate. Ying Ni clutched the Frost Sword, Bai Fan held the Yin-Yang Fan, Di Xin wore the Human Emperor Sword at his waist, and Gu Yanqing and Gu Qingxiao each carried their own natal sword. Miao Yimo, Mu Ya, Jingkong, Tian Suanzi, and Tu Shansong also carried their own weapons. Their footsteps echoed in the empty streets, each step seeming to tread on a rift in time.
Finally, an inn called "Underworld" came into view. Its sign loomed in the night, as if shrouded by some mysterious power. Lanterns in front of the doorway glowed faintly, as if awaiting their arrival. The inn's door, seemingly carrying the weight of millennia, creaked slowly in the morning breeze, like the whispers of ancient times, awakening the slumbering town.
Just then, a woman in a peach-colored dress gracefully appeared at the doorway. Her figure resembled the first peach blossom blooming in early spring, delicate yet graceful. The light danced through her hair, gilding her smooth black hair with a subtle sheen, as if every strand held the vitality of life.
Her face was as exquisite as a painting, her eyes shone with the charm and tenderness of peach blossoms, and a faint smile hung on the corners of her mouth, as if it could instantly melt all the coldness in the world. Her every move exuded an indescribable charm that made people fall for her involuntarily.
However, what was even more surprising was that the moment she took a light step and walked out of the inn, the air around her seemed to tremble.
"Taoyao, long time no see." As soon as Ying Lun saw Taoyao, she greeted her warmly.
"Oh, I knew something good would happen today. As expected, a distinguished guest has arrived." Tao Yao noticed a hint of a smile on Ying Ni's face. But when her gaze turned to the half-hidden figure behind Ying Ni, the smile immediately disappeared. "Bai Fan, come here."
"Hey, Taoyao, long time no see." Bai Fan slowly appeared from behind Ying Lun, with a flattering smile on his face, and stretched out his hand to greet her.
"You cunning fox, you actually have the guts to come back." Tao Yao suddenly grasped a magical instrument in the shape of a peach blossom. She waved it, and a burst of white light erupted. Tao Yao and Bai Fan vanished from the crowd. She left a message, "Nian Nian, please go into the inn on your own. I have some personal matters to attend to with this fox."
Ying Ni had anticipated this. After gently shaking her head, she led her companions into the inn. The inn's interior was decorated in an antique style. Paintings depicting scenes from the underworld hung on the walls, each stroke exuding a profound and mysterious aura. The inn was sparsely populated, and the few patrons who remained sat quietly in a corner, whispering to one another.
Ying Li and others found a seat by the window. The street outside the window was still bustling with people coming and going.
