Diablo traveled through time and became a necromancer
Chapter 2 Demon Hunter Team
"Yawn!" Wu Ye, wearing thin clothes, wandered aimlessly with the skeleton in the bloody wasteland. He said he was looking for a camp, but in fact the sky was pitch black and the surroundings were surrounded by thick fog, making it difficult to see things clearly.
"Am I seeing things? There's a fire ahead?" Wu Ye patted the skeleton next to him, excited. Looking at the faint orange glow ahead, Wu Ye quickened his pace. It had been at least half a day since he'd crossed over. He hadn't eaten anything, and although he was starving, his will to survive wouldn't allow him to slack off. So he kept searching for hope.
As he got closer to the flames, Wu Ye became more alert. Recalling his memory, he realized that torches didn't necessarily indicate the presence of people; they could be the camp of the Fallen Demons. As he approached, the flames he had seen earlier became clearer, but for some reason, his eyelids grew heavier.
"Is there anyone..." Before Wu Ye could finish his words, he fell to the ground and lost consciousness due to exhaustion.
-----
As if feeling the shaking, Wu Ye slowly squinted his eyes and looked around. Then, what came into view was a bowl of steaming broth.
"Eat it while it's hot. The weather in the Blood Wasteland is horrible and it might rain again and the temperature might drop suddenly at any time. You are lucky to have met our team today. If you had met a group of demons in your situation today, you would have died unjustly." The man holding the broth was a muscular man with extremely developed muscles. Judging from the body shapes of the characters in the dark world, he should be a barbarian without a doubt.
"Thank you." Without saying much, Wu Ye took the broth and started to gobble it up. Although it was hot and tasteless, for Wu Ye, who had not eaten for almost a day and had been running around the map all day, it was like an oasis in the desert and could save his life.
"Thank you for the broth, but I have a question for everyone. I was practically fine when I was about to run. Why did I suddenly faint?" Wu Ye patted his full stomach, burped, and asked curiously. Four people sat before him: barbarians of varying heights, tall and powerful. There was a druid of normal build. There was also a man with well-developed muscles, but not as tall as the barbarians. He looked like a paladin. Another man, about the same size as Wu Ye, was slowly polishing a staff.
"Kid, didn't anyone teach you to introduce yourself before you greet someone? Let me introduce myself. My name is Thor, and I'm a Level 9 Paladin. I'm currently the leader of our Demon Hunter team." The Paladin named Thor was the first to speak. He extended his right hand to ask Wu Ye to shake hands.
"Hiss!" Wu Ye gasped in pain. As expected of a Paladin, he was quite strong.
"Hello everyone, my name is Wu Ye, and I'm currently a Level 1 Necromancer. Nice to meet you." Wu Ye stated his profession and level. Although he wasn't a social butterfly, as a homebody, he had a slight social anxiety disorder. But he couldn't resist responding to someone's enthusiasm, especially since they had saved his life. He still had to be polite.
"Hello! Wu Ye, my name is Heim and I'm a level 8 druid. Nice to meet you." Heim also followed Thor's example and shook hands with Wu Ye, but he didn't use as much force as Thor.
"Hmph. Farah, a level 10 mage." Farah, who was wiping his staff, looked very aloof. Wu Ye also smiled at him.
"Hahaha! Don't worry, don't worry! Farah is still the same, only has eyes for his weapons. My name is Raf! I'm a level 8 barbarian, hahaha! Little brother Wu Ye, please take care of me!" Raf, who was standing aside, laughed and patted Wu Ye's shoulder while talking, but Wu Ye said that he could not bear such great pressure.
"Raff, stop hitting Wu Ye. If you hit him again, brother Wu Ye, who has just recovered to full health, will be beaten to pieces again." Thor, the captain, quickly stopped Raff's actions.
Wu Ye breathed a sigh of relief at the harmonious atmosphere among the demon hunter team. He had thought that people from another world would be difficult to get along with, but after thinking about it, they were actually quite nice.
"Brother Wu Ye, you said before that you didn't know why you fainted. I think you are really an amazing person. I have never seen someone who can run around in the bloody wasteland alone without forming a team and approach people casually without any common sense. Before I answer you, I have to ask you a question first." Thor changed his smiling face and looked at Wu Ye very seriously and asked so.
"My village was destroyed by demons, and I escaped during the chaos. However, I had only just become a necromancer and wasn't very strong, and I was running like crazy with nothing. I'd heard the village elders tell me to go to Rogge's camp, so I just kept running. I didn't know the way, and finally I ran into you before I fainted. Luckily, you saved me, or I might have died." Wu Ye couldn't reveal his identity as a time traveler, as he didn't know how that would turn out, so he had to make up an excuse to see if he could fool them. It wasn't all an excuse, though; at least the fact that he didn't know the way and had just become a necromancer was true.
"Oh my god, what a misfortune! Brother Wu Ye, don't worry. We will definitely raze Hell to avenge your village." Heim, who was standing nearby, suddenly said. As a druid, he didn't like to hear about death.
"So that's how it is. Brother Wu Ye, please accept my condolences. Let me answer your question now. You said you're a new necromancer, so you don't know a lot of common sense. Did you know that the skeletons you summon consume your mental energy to maintain them? Like you just said, you've just become a necromancer, been on the run for nearly a day, and you're still summoning skeletons. It's like fighting monsters all day long, constantly draining your level 1 mental energy. How can you possibly endure that? Get some rest. We'll wait until you're fully recovered before taking you back to camp." Thor's initial look of confusion was gone, now filled with concern. Perhaps this is what a paladin is like. People are generally kind.
After some questioning, Wu Ye understood a lot, such as the fact that summons needed to be sustained by mental energy, the precautions to be taken in the wild, and the corresponding countermeasures for encountering monsters. Furthermore, summons could be recalled to their own summoning space with their thoughts, rather than having to wander around the city with skeletons like in the game. After all, from what Thor and the others had described, Rogge was no longer just a small camp. It was a city with a population approaching several million, including numerous affiliated villages.
When Wu Ye asked them why they didn't use the teleport station to return to the city, Thor laughed and said, "Where is the teleport station in the Blood Wasteland?" But then again, why would they need a teleport station when it's right next to their home?
The group walked slowly for about half a day and returned to the gate of Rogge City.
"Anna, and Lina, you two sisters are on guard today. Thank you for your hard work!" Captain Thor was very enthusiastic. Looking at the two archers guarding the gate, Wu Ye immediately recognized the mercenary outfit from the first scene. Rogge Archer.
"Lord Thor is back, welcome home. May I ask, Lord Thor, isn't your team a four-person team? How come there are five people?" Anna, who was standing on the left, said.
"This is a little brother we picked up in the wild. His name is Wu Ye, and he is a level 1 necromancer. Because the village was destroyed by demons, he was the only one who escaped. He happened to meet us before he fainted. We brought him back. Please help register him." Thor pointed at Wu Ye and slowly explained Wu Ye's origins.
"So that's how it is. Please accept my condolences. Please also imprint your right hand on this parchment." Anna took out a piece of parchment that was glowing blue and said to Wu Ye.
Wu Ye walked forward and placed his hand on the parchment. The parchment flashed for a moment, then returned to its original state.
"Is this all right, Miss Anna?" Wu Ye was still a little nervous, honestly. After all, he didn't know what this thing actually did. What if it was a lie detector? But thinking about it, that didn't seem likely.
"Thank you for your cooperation. I wish you a safe journey." After saying that, Anna made way.
Following Thor and the others, they slowly entered Rogge City. Medieval-style buildings greeted their eyes. After walking for about ten minutes, they arrived at a plaza-like area. In the center stood a large fountain, atop which stood a statue of a Rogge archer (reminiscent of the statue in the outer cloister upon entering the monastery in Diablo II). Many people stood around, all apparently professionals (a term used here to distinguish them from ordinary people). Many of them glowed with a blue light. Some wore blue clothing, while others had helmets or weapons with a subtle blue glow. Some wore rings, necklaces, belts, and other items. Wu Ye was envious of them.
"Hahaha, you've never seen so many professionals before, have you? These are all experienced seniors. If you have any questions, you can ask them. Or if you want to exchange or buy equipment later, you can do it here in the square. Come on! We'll take you to the tavern for a good rest." It was Raf who spoke, still with that loud barbarian voice. But he was a nice guy.
After walking for another ten minutes, they finally arrived at the entrance of a tavern. Looking up, they saw the words "Wild Boar Tavern" written on it. Curious, Wu Ye followed Thor and the others inside.
As soon as I stepped into the tavern, I suddenly felt something different from the outside. All sorts of noises filled the air. The seats were also full. Looking around, this tavern was truly enormous. The first floor alone could probably hold hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Then, I followed Thor and the others to the front desk.
"Boss, please send 5 vegetable salads and 5 delicious barbecues to the second floor, still the usual place." Thor talked to the boss very skillfully.
Sitting by the window on the second floor, I ate with Thor and the others, watching them chatting. Then I turned my head out the window and looked at the people coming and going downstairs, wondering what I was thinking.
"Wu Ye, what are your plans for the future?" It was Heim who spoke. He seemed to notice Wu Ye who was unable to join the conversation while eating salad, and asked.
Following Heim's question, Thor, Raf and the others stopped chatting and looked at Wu Ye.
"As for me, I'll first try to survive, then make enough money to eat well. I'll have a place to live. And preferably a wife to keep me company." Wu Ye said with a smile. Since I've come to this world, I have to live well.
"What an ordinary ideal! Humph." The usually taciturn Farah actually scoffed. Wu Ye also scratched his head and smiled.
"But it is indeed a very ordinary ideal. But it is not easy to achieve this ordinary goal. Since you have become a necromancer and a professional, you are destined to be different from ordinary people." Thor spoke seriously, as if he was talking about something particularly serious.
"It would be great if you were at a higher level, so we could have one more person in our team. Hahaha!" Raf on the side was still talking in his loud voice.
"There's nothing I can do about it. But thank you guys anyway. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to eat these delicious foods. It's great to meet such interesting people like you." Wu Ye couldn't help but feel warm in his heart. He was lucky to meet good people when he first arrived in the dark world.
"Why are you saying this, brothers? Remember to come to us if you need any help in the future. Our team will reorganize and then go to challenge the underground cave in the Stone Wilderness. You have to work harder to catch up with us!" Thor said loudly while drinking and hugging Wu Ye's shoulders.
After an unknown amount of time, everyone finally ate and drank their fill, and it was finally time to part ways. Before leaving, the team gave Wu Ye a hundred gold coins and arranged a place for him to stay. Then they departed. It just so happened that the place they stayed was right across from the tavern. It was said that the meal cost only ten gold coins. Wu Ye sighed, "How wonderful it is to have money."
After working tirelessly for a long time, Wu Ye entered the hotel and went to his room. Without taking off his clothes or shoes, he fell into a deep sleep on the bed.
