Black Hearted Mage
Chapter 28 Leaving
The woman in leather armor gave a meaningful smile as she reached out and patted Caesar's shoulder.
"Little guy, I'm surprised you're wearing weighted leather armor. But the tower assassins are too weak. I should be able to handle five or six at a time!"
"Brag!"
Caesar was shocked. He didn't expect that this woman also knew that there was an assassin in the tower, but he still pretended to be calm.
"Maybe, but the great magician in the tower is definitely not as strong as the magician from the Thorn Flower Merchants. If you don't believe me, you can ask the magician from the tower to come down and compete with our magician!" said the woman in leather armor confidently.
Looking at the fearless woman in leather armor, Kaisas felt confused and puzzled. Could it be that the Thorn Flower Trading Company was really more powerful than the Northland Tower?
"Ma'am, I am only responsible for picking up and delivering the goods. Other matters have nothing to do with me!" Caesars responded calmly.
"This time the items are even more valuable. You don't need to get a delivery note. You just need to deliver the goods to the destination!"
At this moment, several great magicians from the tower came out, and they all looked dressed up carefully.
"Kaisas, you take the other goods in, we'll handle this!"
Kandel said this with a smile, and then he walked towards another luxurious carriage.
"Master Orcus, let's go inside for tea!"
With a creaking sound, the car door slowly opened, and a middle-aged man dressed in ornate aristocratic robes stepped out. This sudden scene left Caesars, who had not yet left, dumbfounded. The man before him was far too young, completely different from his image of a master. In his mind, the person honored as a master was supposed to be an old man with white hair and a flowing beard.
"Come on, little guy, come with me to deliver the goods!" The woman in leather armor smiled slightly and invited Caesars.
Caesars was easily lifted onto the truck by the leather-armored woman. At this moment, he began to believe what she had said before. Perhaps the great magician in the tower was really not as powerful as this middle-aged man.
The truck slowly drove into the tower's passage. Caesars asked curiously, "Madam, what kind of snakes are in the snake cave you mentioned last time?"
"Talking about that ruin still gives me chills. It's home to the golden-eyed black demon snake, and a much larger demon snake. Even great magicians can't easily deal with it. It's a giant snake covered in fiery red scales. Not only does it use magical attacks, it also has a highly toxic breath. The golden-eyed black demon snake is merely its prey!"
"There's no such demonic snake on the Roland Continent, right? There's no record of it in any books!"
Kaisas had seen the atlas of high-level magical beasts on the continent, and there were no giant venomous snakes at all.
"Little guy, don't believe what you read in books. There are too many false things recorded in history books. There are almost no records of Warcraft in the Western Continent!"
"Ma'am, how many things in history books are false?"
"Of course. You know Castle Ludwig, right?"
"Ma'am, of course I know that!"
"Ludwig isn't a surname, but the name of a person. Ludwig Rhodes was once the master of Frost Castle. The so-called Ludwig Castle is only called that by people outside. It's actually called Rhodes Castle. It was built by his father, Raven Rhodes, not Evans. The magic school in the castle was indeed called the Ludwig School of Magic at the time!"
Caesars was stunned. According to what this lady said, even the books in the North Tower were fake.
"Madam, why are you so sure about this information?" Caesars couldn't help but ask.
"Hey, little guy, the Thorn Flower Trading Company has more books than the Northland Tower. We have the most complete history books. The people in the Northland Tower are very greedy, including your teacher. They want to open the underground treasure of Rhodes Castle, which even we at the Thorn Flower Trading Company dare not do!"
Kaisas looked at them, a wave of curiosity and surprise welling up in his heart. What kind of business was this? They seemed to possess endless wealth and resources, yet they remained in awe of certain things.
"Madam, aren't you afraid that I will reveal your affairs?" Caesars asked tentatively.
She smiled slightly, a sly look in her eyes: "Hey, we've found out some information. You went underground in Rhodes Castle and came out unscathed, which means you know some secrets!"
The image of the mysterious and powerful Flame Man immediately emerged in Caesar's mind. He had told Caesar many things before. But he didn't understand how the people from the Thorn Flower Trading Company knew all that.
"Ma'am, I don't know any secrets. I'm just a little apprentice!"
Caesars tried his best to deny it, but the woman in leather armor just smiled slightly, and it seemed difficult to convince her.
"Little guy, anyone who enters the base of Rhodes Castle, unless they are from the Rhodes family, will be subjected to an extreme trial. No one can pass this trial, and those who fail will be thrown out. I know as much as you do, and you are becoming more and more dangerous!"
"Why am I in danger?"
Caesar's heart tightened. He felt that the leather-armored woman's words had some truth. What if he was really in danger? He couldn't help but feel a sense of panic, but he tried to remain calm.
"Because the North Tower wants to open Rhodes Castle and obtain the treasure within, they'll leave no stone unturned. Everyone else who enters gets thrown out, but you alone!" the woman in leather armor said calmly. Her eyes revealed a hint of pity and helplessness, as if she'd long been accustomed to this situation.
Kaisas stared at the woman with wide eyes, unable to believe her. The woman was right. The great magician of the Northern Tower would repeatedly test the underground ruins. They would eventually understand.
The leather-armored woman shook her head slightly, a sigh in her tone: "Sometimes, fate plays tricks on us. You can't control your future at all!"
Kaisas was silent for a moment, then raised his head and looked firmly at the leather-armored woman: "Madam, how do you know all this? The ruins of Rhodes Castle and the things about the Northland Tower."
"Little one, there are some things I can't tell you right now. You'll be raising black demon snakes for the Thorn Flower Merchants in the future. We'll supply you with snake venom from the Northern Tower!"
Caesars was surprised to hear the lady's suggestion.
"Ma'am, the Tower won't agree!"
"We will agree. As long as we offer tempting enough conditions, not only a little fellow like you, but even a great magician will obey us!"
Kaisas was perplexed. Why was this woman so confident? And how could the Thorn Flower Company possess such powerful power?
After over an hour, the Thorn Flower Merchant's cargo was finally unloaded. Kandel told Caesars that from that day forward, he would be responsible for feeding the black snakes for the merchant. Everything was just as the leather-armored woman had predicted. The three great magicians in the tower were all beaming, as if they had reaped a huge profit. And Caesars's magic teacher, Old Roman, didn't even show the slightest hint of regret.
Half an hour later, Caesars packed his belongings and boarded the Thorn Flower Trading Company's luxurious carriage, bidding farewell to the Northern Tower where he had lived for nearly two years. He was filled with doubts as to what could have caused the three great magicians to be so ecstatic.
"Ma'am, what exactly did you give them?"
Caesars sat in the carriage of the leather-armored woman and had a pleasant conversation with her.
"Four bottles of potion!"
Upon hearing the answer, Caesars felt a little aggrieved. He wasn't even worth four bottles of potion, but he knew they were certainly worth a fortune. In the eyes of the great magician of the Northland Tower, anything could be sacrificed if the benefits were substantial.
"Madam, can the carriage wait for a while when it arrives in Blackrock City? I want to go home!" Caesars suddenly said.
"Of course, we will take your grandfather and father away with us. If they continue to stay in Blackrock City, they will be killed sooner or later." The other party replied.
"Who is responsible for this? They are the snake breeders!" Caesar was a little confused. It was bad enough that he was in danger in the North Tower, but how could his family be in danger as well?
"The nobles, because of the tower, have not taken any action yet. But after you leave the tower, they won't have to worry about anything!"
Caesars understood a little bit: the magic apprentice with a noble background died because of him. And the deceased Garlon was also a magician, and his family was waiting for an opportunity to take revenge.
"Ma'am, what's your last name?"
"Little guy, I thought you would never ask. My last name is Rhodes, and we are a branch of the former Frost Castle. The surname Rhodes is only used externally; we don't call ourselves that. The Thornflower Trading Company is the former Rhodes Trading Company!"
Caesars was shocked to meet someone related to Rhodes Castle.
"Ma'am, what's the story behind the last name Ludwig? There are many families in the outside world with this last name!"
"Those surnames in the outside world basically have nothing to do with Frost Castle. Some people just want to borrow the name of Ludwig Magic Academy!"
Caesar was so surprised that he couldn't speak, and the lady sitting in the same car looked at him with a smile, which made him feel as if he was also a fake.
Meanwhile, inside the Northland Tower, upon learning that Caesars had left, Joanna's expression turned sullen, even furious. She bluntly questioned the three old men, her eyes gleaming with anger. However, when Old Ethan produced a bottle of emerald green potion, Joanna's aura instantly vanished. A unique glow shone from the potion, a characteristic unique to the life potion.
As night fell, the stars twinkled, and the Thorn Flower Merchants' convoy slowly pulled up outside Blackrock City. Surprisingly, the guards at the city gate were all laid down, making no sound. Thus, the convoy entered the small city silently.
Caesar's grandfather and father were still asleep when the intruders forcibly put hoods on their heads. Before they could react, they were lifted onto the carriage by the caravan's guards.
Meanwhile, all the black snakes were carefully loaded onto the truck. The entire process was eerily quiet; the father and son dared not even make a sound, fearing they might cause more trouble. They secretly suspected they had encountered vicious robbers.
Late at night, a procession of carriages sped south along a silent road. As the light of dawn pierced the darkness, the Thornflower Merchants' convoy had already crossed the border of the Blackstone Kingdom and entered the territory of the Stone Kingdom. As the sun gradually rose, the massive convoy finally stopped moving.
Caesars jumped off the carriage and ran to the van at the back, opening the door. Ludwig and his son were still in shock, their faces pale.
"Grandfather, father, don't be afraid, we are heading to the Kingdom of Thorn Flowers now!" Caesars comforted.
"Did you get into big trouble in the North Tower, you escaping to the Kingdom of Thornflowers?"
Old Ludwig glanced through the door of the truck and saw many figures wearing leather armor and carrying bows and arrows, and a thin layer of sweat broke out on his forehead.
"Gaota sold me to the Thorn Flower Merchant Company. We will raise black magic snakes for them in the future." Kaisas said lightly, while concealing some facts to avoid worrying his family too much.
"You bastard, even if you were going to the Kingdom of Thorn Flower to raise black demon snakes, you didn't have to catch us in the middle of the night, right? You bastard, you didn't even inform us earlier. I was so scared that my heart almost exploded in the night!"
Caesars carefully helped the father and son out of the carriage. One of them was missing an arm and the other had a broken leg, so getting on and off the carriage was very difficult for them.
"Because we don't want others to know that we've gone to the Thorn Flower Kingdom, we've sold our small courtyard in Black Stone City to the Thorn Flower Trading Company. They'll arrange a spacious courtyard for us. As for the black demon snake, I'll be responsible for feeding and caring for it. You can just rest assured and rest assured!"
Old Ludwig pulled Kaisas aside and asked in a low voice, "Are they really going to give us a big yard?"
"Yes, the area is at least five or six times larger than our current courtyard. Otherwise, how can we raise the black snake?"
Hearing this answer, old Ludwig showed a happy smile on his face, as if the shock he suffered last night had disappeared.
"Grandfather, why are you smiling so happily?"
"We will soon have a spacious house. Isn't that something to be happy about? Caesars, please take good care of the black snake. Maybe you can become a noble lord in the future!"
"I want to be the Master Mage!"
Caesar was somewhat dissatisfied with his grandfather, because he had completely forgotten his ideals because of a big mansion.
"You bastard, now that you've left the Northland Tower, don't even think about Master Mage anymore. Just live a peaceful life!"
Now that there were outsiders around, Caesars didn't want others to know that he had a lot of cultivation resources. Looking at the father and son with expectant faces, he nodded obediently.
