Black Hearted Mage
Chapter 221 Underground Corridor 2
Chapter 221 Underground Corridor 2
As the last glimmer of the sunset faded into the horizon, night slowly descended upon the earth like a vast and mysterious curtain. The sky gradually grew darker, as if a thin black veil had gently enveloped the entire world.
In the deepening night, Caesars and Old Ethan walked leisurely and contentedly. Their pace was neither hurried nor slow, revealing an air of leisure and ease that even made people envious, thinking they were too relaxed and comfortable.
Meanwhile, in the distance, the interior of Delta Castle was ablaze with lights, as bright as day. This castle was renowned for its opulent decorations and magnificent architecture. The spacious, brightly lit hall was now bustling with people, dozens of them gathered. Some were whispering, others were fixated on the imagery they had captured a short while ago.
Suddenly, a white-haired magician broke the silence. "Who are these two strangers? Look, the metal staff one of them holds is quite eye-catching. This staff once made a stunning appearance at the Imperial Capital's Grand Arena. Its head is composed of four intertwined venomous snakes, each of which tightly grips an inky black magical gem. As far as I know, the person holding this staff is the recently risen great magician—Caesars Carvel. He was originally a member of the Northland Tower, but for unknown reasons, he left there and went to the Thorn Flower Trading Company!"
Before he could finish his words, someone in the crowd interrupted, "Oh, so that's how it is! Now I remember, isn't this the guy who beat the crap out of Sandro last time? Oh, and don't you still have the photo stone from that time? Take it out and let everyone see it again!"
Upon hearing this, the magician who had just spoken suddenly frowned and said sternly, "Stop talking nonsense!"
For a moment, the hall fell into a brief silence.
"Notify the people in the underground corridor immediately. They're heading to the seaside. I think they're going to look for the magic gate. One of the church's ships is missing. If it didn't run aground and sink, it must have been sunk by the Roland Empire!"
An elderly man in aristocratic robes spoke solemnly. His expression revealed worry and anxiety. The Roland Empire had learned of the underground corridor, and a major crisis had arrived for the Delta family.
"My Lord Earl, the magic door is not so easy to open. But if the magic door is really discovered and the news about the underground corridor is leaked, we should prepare to escape now. Those members of the family who disappeared without a trace should have been assassinated!" said the old magician.
"Everyone, hurry back and pack up. Go to the underground hall and wait in a quarter of an hour!"
As Count Delta's command rang out in a dignified and urgent voice, the spacious and magnificent hall was instantly plunged into chaos and uproar. People fled in panic, their footsteps and shouts echoing throughout the room. With only a precious quarter of an hour, they had to race against time to pack up their important belongings.
At the same time, beneath the inky black of night, a pair of elemental wings, as black as the night, flapped vigorously. The owner of these wings was none other than Caesars, who was staring intently at the figure not far ahead—Old Ethan. The elemental wings spread out behind Old Ethan, a brilliant purple, emanating circles of enchanting light that seemed to dispel the surrounding darkness.
Old Ethan is a powerful archmage. The arcane energy he controls possesses unique spatial properties. This powerful energy makes the spells he wield surpass elemental energy in terms of energy level.
Just two minutes later, the towering, lush tree by the sea came into clear view, just around the corner. However, the experienced Ethan didn't hesitate or pause, flying straight toward the steep cliff. As he neared the cliff, he could see a massive rock, roughly two meters wide, jutting out from the bottom. This rock undoubtedly provided the only safe landing point.
Old Ethan did not open the magic door directly, but observed carefully, sensing the direction of the magic energy flowing in the magic pattern.
"Old Ethan, why don't you do it?"
After Caesars landed, he saw the motionless old Ethan and asked with some confusion.
"Boy, the magic energy of this magic door is very high. It must be the energy provided by the magic pool. You must be careful and cautious when involving the magic pool. There is no room for carelessness!"
Old Ethan stared intently at the mysterious magic door, not missing any subtle details. His eyes slowly swept around, carefully observing the small details that are easily overlooked.
The massive magical door before him had a rugged surface, as if weathered by the vicissitudes of time. To blend seamlessly with the seaside rocks and inconspicuously, it had been cleverly painted with a layer of off-white alchemical dye, making it appear indistinguishable from ordinary rock.
"This is pure magic steel, without a trace of ordinary steel mixed in. Just this door alone is probably worth over a million gold coins!"
Old Ethan exclaimed, extending his right hand. Instantly, a walnut-sized purple ball of light appeared in his palm. This ball of light was so bright that it reminded Caesars of the light produced by illumination magic.
However, if one looked closely, one would notice tiny flashes of lightning emanating from the edges of the purple ball of light, like a blade slicing through space. Standing nearby, Caesars keenly sensed an indescribably powerful energy emanating continuously from the ball of light.
Old Ethan took a deep breath and threw the dazzling purple ball of light in his hand without hesitation. The ball of light rushed towards the magic door along a straight trajectory and hit the center of the door accurately.
A shocking scene unfolded: the purple ball of light, like a pebble falling into a lake, effortlessly embedded itself into the impenetrable magic steel door. Immediately afterwards, a surge of immense arcane energy erupted, surging in all directions. Instantly, the intricate and exquisitely detailed magic patterns inscribed upon the magic door, as if struck by a devastating storm, rapidly crumbled and disintegrated, starting from the center.
The electric light in the light ball began to surge, and cracks appeared on the magic steel door that had lost the magic circle. It was not a real crack, but was cut by arcane energy.
"Boy, put the magic steel away. It's a bit heavy, so you better be careful!"
Kaesus nodded, cast the spell of Mage's Hand, and began collecting from the top of the magic steel door. When the first fragment was taken out, he couldn't help but gasp in amazement. The door was over a foot thick, and a single fragment of magic steel weighed over a thousand pounds.
"Get rich!"
Caesars said this excitedly and quickened his pace.
"You can only take 20%, and the rest must be exchanged for magic crystals and sent back to the magic tower!" Old Ethan reminded with a smile.
"Twenty percent is not a small amount!"
"I'm so ignorant! There must be some good stuff in the underground corridor!"
Old Ethan helped Caesar gather the heavy, metallic pieces of magic steel. The previously enclosed area above the gate had been opened to a free-flowing space. Caesar's heart surged with joy, his movements becoming even faster. A beaming smile filled his face, he happily collected the heavy pieces of magic steel.
After just a few minutes, they successfully entered the corridor leading to the underground world. A plump puppy ran happily at the front of the group, as if full of curiosity and anticipation for everything here.
Inside this demon-steel gate lies a dock designed for ships. Climbing the steps that rise from the dock, a spacious and deep passage gradually unfolds. The passage's length, width, and height are approximately four to five meters, forming a nearly square shape. The floor is slightly rough, marked by clear ruts from passing carriages, indicating the frequent passage of carriages through this underground corridor.
The two continued walking forward. They hadn't gone far, only a few dozen meters, when the puppy suddenly let out a soft whimper. Using their darkvision, they spotted the puppy resting on the smooth stone wall at the side of the passage. It was scratching vigorously at the stone with its stubby claws.
Seeing this, Old Ethan took long, unhesitating strides and quickly approached, probing inside with his magical tentacles. He frowned slightly, but soon smiled. Caesars approached the wall, carefully examining its texture.
"Inside is the magic pool. The stone walls here are made of a kind of magic-repelling stone, camouflaged with a layer of low-level alchemical artifacts. The door to enter is not here, so we have to force our way through the wall!"
As Old Ethan spoke, he cast another dazzling arcane sphere, blasting it into the wall as well, and bright purple electric light appeared again.
"Old Ethan, what kind of spell is this?"
Caesars was so envious that he asked the old elf anxiously.
"Arcane Eye, this is a spell created by Riven. It doesn't consume much arcane energy, but its power is ridiculously strong!"
“It looks a little small!”
"Boy, you're so ignorant! This is a compressed spell. If it weren't compressed, it would be about the same size as you!"
Dazzling lightning flashed like silver snakes, dancing frantically across the wall, each flash accompanied by a crackling sound. They eroded the incredibly solid demon-repelling stone at an alarming rate, seemingly tearing it apart completely.
As time went on, the lightning became longer and longer, like claws reaching into the depths of darkness. The wall could no longer withstand such a fierce attack, and debris from it fell like raindrops, raising a cloud of dust.
As everyone knows, magic-repelling stone is a precious material specifically used to isolate magical fluctuations. Its hardness and resistance to magic are second to none. However, when the Eye of Arcane finally penetrated the thick wall, Caesars was surprised to find that the wall was actually over two meters thick!
The Eye of Arcane didn't stop there. It seemed unsatisfied with merely opening a small hole. It began to unleash its immense power, rapidly expanding the fist-sized hole. In the blink of an eye, it had become a massive hole about two meters in diameter.
At this moment, a surge of magic suddenly surged out from the cave, its density as dense as a torrential rain. These colorful and powerful spells swept towards the cave entrance, creating a terrifying scene.
Faced with such a terrifying attack, Caesars unhesitatingly used his Flash spell, instantly moving to a safe area dozens of meters away. Old Ethan, standing nearby, couldn't help but show a hint of disdain and shouted at Caesars, "Boy, why are you running? I'm here. Even if they use all their might, they won't be able to hurt you!"
Meanwhile, the puppy was staring blankly at the scene before it, its mouth opening and closing as if it wanted to eat some spells, but it got nothing.
Old Ethan grabbed the puppy by the neck and forced it to the other side of the purple barrier. Seeing this, Caesars ran over quickly.
"Boy, it's stronger than you think, otherwise Riven wouldn't have sent it here. These people's magic is too weak to unleash the Lava Hound's ferocity. It needs to be injured painfully enough to unleash its unimaginable fighting power!"
Through the purple barrier, one could see the puppy opening its mouth wide, swallowing the spells that were directed at it. However, the way it swallowed was a little peculiar; the spells were stretched out, as if squeezed into strands of "noodles."
The spell inside suddenly stopped. Old Ethan and Caesar stood behind the purple barrier and observed the inside. A magic pool with a radius of nearly ten meters, and the magic inside was almost overflowing.
The seven magicians inside stood there in a daze, all staring at a fat dog. The dark red dog had its mouth wide open, revealing a mouthful of sharp fangs.
"How can there be so much magic power? The big bucket of adamantium I brought can't hold it all!"
Old Ethan was stunned. There was so much magic power here, enough for the Frost Crown to use for hundreds of years.
"Kid, just stay still. You won't have a chance to make a move. There's a magic pool here, so it's safer for me to do it myself!"
Old Ethan said as he passed through the hole in the wall and walked in front of the puppy. The purple barrier remained in front of him. Suddenly, the arcane barrier began to surge, instantly enveloping the magic pool and the seven magicians.
Seven old magicians were seen struggling in the arcane barrier. They were like being stuck in a sticky quagmire. The more they struggled, the less they could move.
