Black Hearted Mage

Chapter 193: Husband and Wife Tomb

In order to uncover the secrets hidden in this cave, Caesars had to be cautious and face those extremely dangerous alchemical creations. He was seen holding an extremely sharp magic blade, cutting these huge alchemical creations piece by piece, and immediately placing the cut parts into the space ring.

Without the freezing ice, the fire element began to escape. Kaisas increased his speed, cutting the pieces one by one.

The reason for carefully collecting the alchemical creations was not only because they were dangerous, but also because they could become food for the lava puppy. The puppy had a special liking for things rich in fire elements, so these alchemical creations would just satisfy its taste.

After clearing away the chilling alchemical artifacts, the previously covered ground gradually emerged. Surprisingly, a meticulously engraved magic pattern array appeared on the ground. A closer inspection revealed it to be a simple conductive magic pattern. While its construction appeared uncomplicated, the material it was constructed from was exceptionally rare—finger-thick strips of magic copper! This high-purity magic copper was worth a hundred times more than gold!

At this moment, someone couldn't help but want to step forward and touch the tempting magic copper, but immediately heard Kaisas's stern rebuke: "Don't touch the magic copper on the ground! Magic power is flowing through it continuously at this moment. If you act rashly, the consequences will be disastrous! We should wait patiently and collect it after the source of magic power is completely disconnected!"

Obviously, the other members of the mercenary team also knew how precious these magic pattern array materials were. They all stared wide-eyed, staring intently at the gleaming magic copper on the ground, as if afraid to miss any chance to obtain the treasure.

Standing at the front of the group, Caesars cast his gaze towards the tightly closed magic door not far ahead. He knew full well that if he wanted to successfully pass through this door and delve deeper into the caverns to uncover more secrets, he must first successfully decipher the dense and intricate magic patterns engraved on it. Using force to force it open was definitely not a wise move; the slightest mistake could cause the entire passage to collapse, and everyone would likely perish...

Although Caesars was not very proficient in magic circles, he could identify some magic patterns and clearly sense the flow of magic power. Most of the magic patterns on the surface of the magic gate were used to confuse people. There were only two or three real key magic patterns.

Caesars selected several invalid magic patterns, first cut off the magic circuit with the magic blade, then chiseled a shallow pit on the magic door, and then took out a crystal bottle filled with grayish-white liquid.

"Stand back, what I have is extremely poisonous!"

Caesars carefully tilted the bottle slightly, and saw a drop of gray liquid slowly flow out and accurately drip into the small pit on the magic door.

Instantly, a thick white mist suddenly rose up, like a flower rapidly blooming. A piercing hissing sound resounded throughout the surroundings, like countless venomous snakes simultaneously spitting their tongues, a terrifying sound.

Rodman's eyes widened in shock. He couldn't help but ask, "Kaisas, what kind of acid are you using? How can it be so corrosive?"

As a magic archer, Rodman's magic arrows also include a kind of strong acid arrow equipped with a crystal tip, but its corrosiveness is far less than what we see before our eyes.

Caesars smiled slightly and replied slowly, "Rodman, this isn't just any strong acid, it's undead rot. Its preparation is not simple, and the materials used are extremely rare!"

After listening to Caesar's explanation, Rodman nodded in sudden enlightenment. He had, of course, heard of the undead rot. This mysterious and powerful liquid was extremely dangerous to refine, requiring only highly skilled and experienced alchemists to accomplish it.

As the two chatted, the playful puppy suddenly darted out. It seemed curious about the thick white mist and dove headfirst into it. Then, from the depths of the fog, the puppy's cheerful barking could be heard, as if it were enjoying itself in the thick mist. Not long after, a gnawing sound could be heard, like something hard rubbing against something, making your teeth ache.

When the highly corrosive white mist slowly dissipated, everyone was surprised to find that the puppy had actually successfully gnawed its way into the magic door. Only a short, stubby tail was sticking out of the door, wagging happily, as if showing off its accomplishments.

"Oh my god! How could this damn dog gnaw so recklessly?" Caesars exclaimed in disbelief, his eyes wide. He had initially hoped the pup would choose to gnaw at the areas corroded by the acid. However, once the poisonous acid mist had completely dissipated, he was shocked to discover that the pup had gnawed along the main line of magic power. It had practically gnawed away the entire magic circle there, leaving nothing behind.

"Rodman, dig out the magic copper here! The magic patterns and arrays on this magic door were destroyed by the dead dog. Now we can take these magic coppers as we please!"

As Caesar spoke, he quickly walked towards the magic gate. Honestly, he still couldn't figure out how the puppy had managed to break through the tight magic pattern array without triggering any counterattacks. The puppy was still diligently gnawing at the magic gate, but strangely, all the magic energy within the magic patterns seemed to have evaporated, vanishing without a trace.

"You damn dog, come out!" Caesars shouted loudly towards the door.

The magic door had lost its magical support and had become no different from an ordinary stone slab. With just a quick exploration of its internal conditions, it could be broken open using brute force.

The puppy wagged its short and flexible tail, humming and humming as it backed out of the hole. Its mouth opened wide, revealing its pink tongue and sharp teeth, a satisfied smile on its face, as if it had just enjoyed a delicious meal.

Seeing this, Caesars, standing nearby, crouched down curiously and slowly approached the spot where the puppy had been gnawing. When he finally took in the scene, his eyes widened in amazement: This seemingly sturdy magic door, meticulously crafted by an alchemist, had been gnawed through by a puppy! Not only that, but even the source of magical power hidden behind the door had been completely severed by this act of destruction.

"Damn dog, have you sucked all the magic power out of the door?"

The puppy didn't know whether it understood or not, but it just blinked its round eyes and tilted its head to look at Caesars. Then it howled at him twice, as if responding to him.

Seeing this, Caesars shook his head helplessly. This pup would eat anything. It deserved the title of Abyss Scavenger for nothing. He casually pulled out a sweet, creamy pastry and tossed it in front of the pup. The greedy pup bit into the pastry and devoured it.

Kaisas quickly unleashed his magical tentacles, slowly extending them towards the inside of the bitten magic door, wanting to explore what secrets were hidden within. As the magical tentacles continued to penetrate deeper, everything within the door was discovered one by one.

Inside, it looked like a small exhibition hall, filled with all sorts of bizarre objects. Several suits of battered magic steel armor, covered in battle scars, sat on wooden shelves. Further inside, three massive magical skulls appeared, their hideous, terrifying appearances chilling. A dozen wooden crates, stacked neatly against the wall, were coated in dust from their age. Also, there were two worn animal hide sofas, some scuffed but still revealing their former luxury and comfort.

The most eye-catching sights were the two crystal coffins embedded in the stone wall, placed side by side. The translucent crystal coffins emanated a faint glow, as if telling an ancient and mysterious story. Caesars discovered that his magical tentacles were unable to penetrate the powerful protective array to explore the interior of the crystal coffins. Whenever his magic touched the edge of the array, it was bounced back by an invisible force.

Rather than forcefully break open the magic door, Caesars used his magician's hand to unbolt the three bolts. He stood up, stretched out his hands, and pushed the magic door open. The hinges creaked heavily, and a tomb sealed for thousands of years was opened.

Rodman and his companions heard the sound, stopped digging out the magic copper, and quickly walked to the door.

"Caesar, you opened the tomb!" Rodman said excitedly.

"Well, once you go in, don't touch anything inside. There's an epitaph carved on the stone wall where the crystal coffin is. Let's talk about everything after you've read the epitaph."

Caesars looked at the people before him with a serious expression, his voice low and solemn. The magic circle protecting the crystal coffin was extremely powerful. Even after thousands of years, it still operated stably.

Kaisas continued, "As far as I know, the coffins of those powerful magicians' tombs are almost impossible to open easily. This is because before their death, these magicians had already made up their minds to perish together with the tomb robbers, and would never allow their remains to be violated in the slightest!"

After saying that, Caesars took out an exquisite magic lamp from his arms and filled the card slot with a high-grade magic crystal. The magic lamp instantly burst into dazzling light, illuminating the entire eight or nine meter square tomb as bright as day.

In the bright light, one could see that the stone wall behind the two crystal coffins was densely engraved with numerous characters. These characters were either flamboyant or elegant, but all of them contained profound magical fluctuations.

Cautiously approaching the stone wall, Caesars began to carefully study the inscriptions. Minutes passed, his brow furrowed in thought, his expression shifting to sudden enlightenment. Finally, after a thorough investigation, he turned and relayed the tomb's owner's crucial message to the others.

It turns out the tomb's occupants were a married couple, both prominent figures at the Ludwig School of Magic. The husband was a highly accomplished alchemist, while the wife, a master of magic patterns and arrays, was also a renowned sorcerer. Sensing their own mortality was nearing, they decided to construct this tomb ahead of time, placing their most cherished possessions within.

Looking out, the tomb chamber was filled with several suits of armor, tattered yet exuding a solemn aura. It was said that these armors were trophies captured after their valiant battles against the Paladins. Furthermore, several hideous beast skulls bore witness to the couple's glorious hunting exploits in the mountains and forests. And quietly in a corner, two soft, comfortable animal-skin sofas served as a warm embellishment to the loving couple's daily life.

"Let me check it out first. Don't move anything or move around!"

The magic tentacles turned into a dense net, and began to carefully explore the mysterious stone chamber inch by inch with an extremely slow and cautious posture, not missing any corner or object.

However, after a careful investigation, it was discovered that, except for the two crystal coffins placed on the edge of the stone chamber, which emitted a faint chill, all other objects were not protected by the magic circle.

Caesars cautiously approached the two crystal coffins. As the distance gradually closed, he finally saw the faces of the two tomb occupants clearly—they lay peacefully within the coffins, as if deep in sleep, lifelike, as if time had completely ceased to exist. Even more astonishing was that beneath each body lay a metal array disc, gleaming with magical light. One disc emanated a chill, its intricate and delicate patterns reminiscent of the legendary ice array; while the other shone with a brilliant magical brilliance. Its unique pattern structure suggested it was a magic gathering array, used to concentrate magical energy.

Looking at the two crystal coffins again, they were tightly tucked together, with barely a gap between them. A quick glance revealed a clear connection between the two array plates, likely already connected as one. After all, in a place without a magic power pool or magic crystal veins, maintaining the stable operation of the ice array required the necessary mana to be provided by the magic gathering array.

The only problem was that the magic circle protecting the crystal coffins was located directly below the coffins, tightly concealed, making it impossible to explore. Furthermore, the two crystal coffins were firmly embedded in the stone wall, as if rooted, and the base below was a single piece of alchemical creation.
