Chapter 323: Mo Yu Yun Tian (27)
Princess Zhaoyang's carriage slowly departed the Yan capital. There was no grand procession, only a few carriages and dozens of guards, making it seem rather deserted. Su Luo sat in the carriage, gazing out the window at the passing scenery, his mind racing.
"Princess, do you really not need to notify the young master and the others?" Song Lan asked softly, breaking the silence in the car.
Su Luo shook his head: "No need, they all have their own things to do, I don't want them to worry about me."
"But..." Song Lan hesitated to speak.
Su Luo smiled slightly: "I know what you want to say, don't worry, I will be fine."
She paused, then added, "Besides, I've already made arrangements."
Song Lan said no more, but silently poured Su Luo a cup of hot tea.
The convoy headed north for several days, and the road gradually became more rugged and bumpy. The villages along the way became increasingly scarce, and a desolate atmosphere filled the air.
One day, as the convoy was moving, there was suddenly a commotion ahead.
"What's going on?" Su Luo asked.
A guard came riding up and reported: "Princess, there is a little beggar lying on the road ahead, and he seems to be injured."
Su Luo frowned slightly: "Let's go and take a look."
The carriage slowly stopped and Su Luo got off. He saw a skinny little beggar lying in the middle of the road. He was in tattered clothes and was covered in dirt. His face could not be seen clearly.
Several guards were about to step forward to drive the little beggar away, but Su Luo stopped them.
"Wait." She walked to the little beggar, squatted down and looked at him carefully.
The little beggar closed his eyes tightly, breathed rapidly, and his forehead was hot.
"She has a fever." Su Luo said, reaching out to feel the little beggar's pulse, his brows furrowed even tighter, "Her pulse is weak, the situation is not good."
"Princess, this..." The guards looked at each other, not knowing what to do.
Su Luo pondered for a moment and ordered, "Song Lan, go get my medicine box."
"Yes." Song Lan responded and left.
Su Luo said to the guards again: "You guys, help her to the side of the road. Be careful not to hurt her."
The guards did as they were told and carefully helped the little beggar to the side of the road.
Song Lan quickly brought the medicine box. Su Luo opened the box and took out the silver needles and pills.
She first used silver needles to acupuncture the little beggar to relieve her high fever.
Then, he crushed the pills, dissolved them in water, and fed them to the little beggar.
"Princess, this little beggar has an unknown origin, why are you..." a guard couldn't help but say.
Su Luo glanced at him and said calmly, "Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. What's more, she is still a child."
The guards said no more and just stood by silently.
After Su Luo treated the little beggar's injuries, he instructed Song Lan, "Song Lan, take her to the carriage, give her a wash, and change her into clean clothes."
"Yes, Princess," Song Lan replied, carefully picking up the little beggar and walking towards the carriage.
Su Luo looked at Song Lan's back and sighed inwardly. In this chaotic world, human life is worthless. If you can save as many as you can, save them.
"Pass the order down, set up camp here and rest for one night." Su Luo ordered.
"Yes!" The guards took the order and started to get busy.
As night fell, a bonfire was lit in the camp to dispel the cold.
Su Luo sat by the campfire, looking at the dancing flames, lost in thought.
At this time, Song Lan came over and said softly, "Princess, the little beggar has woken up."
"Oh?" Su Luo came back to his senses, "How is she?"
"The fever has gone away, but she's still very weak," Song Lan said. "After she woke up, she was very alert and refused to speak."
Su Luo nodded: "Take me to see her."
Su Luo followed Song Lan to the carriage and saw the little beggar curled up in the corner, looking at them vigilantly with his big eyes.
"You're awake." Su Luo said softly, trying to make his voice sound gentler.
The little beggar didn't say anything, just looked at her silently.
Su Luo walked to her side, sat down slowly, and asked softly: "What's your name?"
The little beggar hesitated for a moment before whispering, "I...I don't have a name."
"No name?" Su Luo was a little surprised. "Then where are your family members?"
The little beggar shook his head: "I have no family."
Su Luo felt a pain in his heart. He wondered how much suffering this child had gone through.
"Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you." Su Luo said softly, "I saved you, do you remember?"
The little beggar nodded.
"How do you feel now? Are you still feeling uncomfortable?" Su Luo asked.
The little beggar shook his head.
Su Luo looked at her and said softly, "You should have a good rest first. If you need anything, tell Song Lan."
The little beggar looked at Su Luo, a hint of gratitude flashing in his eyes.
"Thank you..." she whispered.
Su Luo smiled slightly: "You're welcome, just have a good rest."
She stood up and prepared to leave.
"Wait..." the little beggar suddenly called her.
Su Luo turned around and looked at her.
"Who... who are you?" asked the little beggar.
Su Luo looked at her and said softly, "I am Princess Zhaoyang of Yan State."
The little beggar was stunned. She didn't expect that the person who saved her was a princess.
"Princess..." she muttered to herself.
Su Luo looked at her and said softly, "You should have a good rest and we'll talk about it tomorrow."
She turned and left the carriage.
Returning to the campfire, Su Luo felt a little heavy-hearted.
This little beggar reminded her of herself.
She is also a homeless person, a person at the mercy of fate.
"Princess, what are you thinking about?" Song Lan asked softly.
Su Luo came back to his senses and shook his head: "Nothing."
She looked at Woad and asked, "What do you think of that little beggar?"
Song Lan thought for a moment and said, "She is very pitiful, but also very strong."
Su Luo nodded: "Yes, she is very strong."
She looked at the dancing flames and prayed silently in her heart, hoping that this little beggar could have a good home.
