Quick mission: We don't make trouble
Chapter 30 Injured
Just then, they heard a strange sound, like something approaching.
Zhu Yingying nervously grabbed Yu Bo's arm, "What is that?"
Yu Bo comforted her, "Don't be afraid, it might be a wild animal. Let's get out of here quickly."
They quickened their pace, but the sound was getting closer and closer, and finally, they saw a huge black bear appear in front of them.
Yu Bo and Zhu Yingying turned around and ran away in horror. They ran desperately until they were exhausted and out of breath.
Unable to run any further, they hid behind a large tree, not daring to make a sound. Fortunately, the black bear didn't notice them and continued walking in another direction.
Zhu Yingying and Yu Bo breathed a sigh of relief. They decided to take a break before continuing to look for a way out.
Zhu Yingying leaned against a tree and waited for the breath to subside before saying, "Hey, Yu Bo, don't you think it's a bit strange?"
"What's weird?"
"Didn't the tour guide say there are no large wild animals in this scenic area?"
Yu Bo: "There are all kinds of birds in a big forest, so it's not surprising to see bears around.
In fact, he had felt strange for a long time, but he just didn't want to scare the lady.
Zhu Yingying: "No, this doesn't look like a scenic spot, but rather an undeveloped primeval forest.
Look, we've been walking for so long and haven't seen a single person. There's no sign of anyone in the area, no sign of anyone on the tourist trails... "
Yu Bo: "Maybe we strayed from the main scenic area route and wandered deep into the forest. If we look around a bit, we'll find our way back to the tourist trail."
"No."
Zhu Yingying said firmly: "We are no longer in the original space."
Yu Bo looked at her, "What do you want to say?"
Zhu Yingying: "Maybe we are already dead, or maybe we have traveled through time."
Yu Bo wanted to say: Sister, you think too much.
But he couldn't find any reason to object unless he found a way out immediately and found the tourist trail.
Yu Bo was silent for a moment, trying to process Zhu Yingying's words. He looked around and realized that this place didn't look like an ordinary forest. "So what do we do now?" Yu Bo asked.
Zhu Yingying took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. "Since we can't be sure what happened, let's move forward. There may be clues or other survivors ahead. We have to stay vigilant. But we can't go up."
The higher we go, the deeper into the forest, and the easier it is to get lost. Let's go down, follow the stream, and if we keep going down, we will eventually find our way downstream."
Yu Bo: "Sister Zhu is more experienced. Let's go down."
Zhu Yingying was used to hearing him call her Sister Zhu. She simply took advantage of her age and started to act like a big shot.
He laughed and said, "Of course, you little brat, I've walked more roads and tasted more salt than you."
Yu Bo: "I respect you and call you Sister Zhu, but please don't be so rude. Who is the little brat? I am a junior in college after all, and I am already an adult."
Zhu Yingying smiled and said, "Okay, adults, let's go."
She stood up and prepared to walk, but unexpectedly she cried out, staggered and fell down again. Yu Bo hurried over to support her.
"What's wrong?
"Is your ankle sprained?"
Zhu Yingying tried to move her leg again, and it hurt. Yes, her right leg was sprained.
Maybe I ran too fast when I was avoiding the black bear and accidentally twisted it. I didn’t feel the pain before, but now I found it after resting for a while and standing up suddenly.
I lifted up my trouser leg and saw that my right ankle was swollen.
What should I do? There is no medicine for injuries, no spray, and not even ice.
Yu Bo looked around, his gaze finally settling on a thick branch. He walked over, picked it up, broke it into the appropriate length, and handed it to Zhu Yingying. "Sister Zhu, use this as a crutch for support. I'll carry you; it'll be faster that way."
Zhu Yingying hesitated, "This... isn't a good idea. You're tired too."
"Stop talking nonsense and get up quickly." Yu Bo squatted down and carried Zhu Yingying on his back.
Zhu Yingying lay on his back, a warm feeling welling up in her heart. Yu Bo's back was broad and solid, reassuring. She was secretly glad that in this unfamiliar environment, she still had someone she could rely on.
Yu Bo carried Zhu Yingying on his back as he slowly moved forward along the stream, panting but with a firm stride, each step filled with an exploration of the unknown and a desire for survival.
The two continued their cautious progress, keeping an eye on their surroundings. Suddenly, they discovered some strange traces—something like human footprints, but not quite. This gave them a glimmer of hope: perhaps there really were other humans trapped in this mysterious place.
