My humble days in ancient times

Chapter 95 I will take you to the mountains to enjoy the breeze at midnight

Huang Guiyun had been feeling restless the day she saw Tian Yuhe mysteriously bringing several pounds of meat and chicken from the wasteland. Those few glances had made her feel like she was being scratched by a cat, itching uncontrollably.

At night, she took a nap, but she couldn't suppress the greed in her heart, so she got up stealthily and did something secretive.

Today is different from the past. When passing by Ruyi Chili Shop, the dogs in the kennel seemed to have sensed something and suddenly started barking. The "woof woof woof" sounds were particularly loud in the quiet night.

Huang Guiyun was not worried at all, and continued to walk towards the shed on the other side of the wasteland. But it was so strange that the shed was empty, with nothing in it.

Huang Guiyun stood in the shed for a long time before she realized that it must have been placed in Ruyi Chili Shop. She couldn't help but sigh in her heart: How clever!

Huang Guiyun just turned around when she suddenly saw a dark figure. She was immediately startled and her heart was in her throat. The figure was also frightened by Huang Guiyun and screamed loudly. The sound was particularly terrifying in the quiet night.

Huang Guiyun calmed down and recognized Wang Erdan's voice. She said unhappily, "What are you shouting about? It's me."

Wang Erdan finally calmed down and patted his chest and said, "I'm not afraid of people, but ghosts. I was really scared just now."

Huang Guiyun rolled his eyes at him and said disdainfully, "Look at your lack of ability. You'll never be a great bandit."

Wang Erdan curled his lips and said, "I'm fine with being a thief. I don't care about anything too big."

After saying this, he looked around the shed and saw that there was nothing inside. He couldn't help cursing, "These people are really wicked! They should at least leave us something! We have nothing here. Didn't we come here for nothing? This is such bad luck!"

Huang Guiyun glared at him fiercely and said unhappily, "You only know how to complain like a headless fly. Instead of wasting your time, you should calm down and think carefully about what to do next."

Wang Erdan scratched his head and said in confusion, "What else can we do? Change places. I can't think of any good solution."

Huang Guiyun frowned and thought for a moment, his eyes revealing a hint of determination. He said, "A thief never leaves empty-handed. Let's go to the family in the north of the village. I heard that they have the most chickens."

When Wang Erdan heard this, his eyes lit up instantly and he said excitedly, "Okay, I'll listen to you."

The two men were just about to go back in fear when suddenly, a figure appeared from the side of the road, and then a torch lit up. Who else could it be but Du Lei?

The light of the torch danced in the darkness, illuminating Du Lei's serious face.

Du Lei glanced sharply at Wang Erdan and Huang Guiyun, and asked suspiciously, "Why are you together? What brings you to this wasteland so late at night?"

Huang Guiyun forced herself to remain calm, smiled awkwardly, and said, "I couldn't sleep, so I came out for a walk and happened to run into Wang Erdan."

Wang Erdan rolled his eyes, thought for a moment, and said, "As for me, I'm not feeling well. I might have eaten too much last night, and my stomach is bloated and uncomfortable, so I'm walking around to help digest the food."

Du Lei couldn't help but laugh when he heard this. Who could he try to fool with such a flawed lie? So he said, "I'm not sleepy either. Why don't you accompany me for a walk on the hillside?"

Huang Guiyun and Wang Erdan became anxious when they heard this.

Huang Guiyun quickly said, "This is not good. I'm a little sleepy now and yawning all the time. I have to go back to sleep."

Wang Erdan also hurriedly said, "It's cold on the mountain at night. I haven't recovered yet and can't stand the cold. I won't go."

Without saying anything, Du Lei took off one of his clothes and threw it to Wang Erdan, saying, "Put it on and you won't be cold anymore. Let's go, both of you."

How could Huang Guiyun and Wang Erdan just surrender? So they looked at each other with tacit understanding, then separated together and ran back.

Seeing this, Du Lei's eyes widened with anger, and he picked up the stick in his hand and hit Wang Erdan with it. The stick hit Wang Erdan's back hard, and Wang Erdan cried out "ouch" and immediately fell to the ground in pain, holding his back and groaning.

Huang Guiyun didn't care about Wang Erdan behind him at this time. He only wanted to escape quickly. He kept running forward desperately.

Du Lei was agile and quickly caught up with Huang Guiyun. Without hesitation, he placed the dagger against her neck. The cold blade pressed against her skin, and Huang Guiyun trembled with fear, and immediately became obedient.

Huang Guiyun's voice trembled as he said timidly, "Brother Du, don't be angry. Don't joke around. You might end up bleeding."

Du Lei snorted coldly and said, "I'm not kidding. It's you two who are uncooperative. I want to ask, are you still willing to go up the mountain with me to get some fresh air?"

Huang Guiyun didn't dare to say a single word of "no" and nodded repeatedly, like pounding garlic. Du Lei then put away the dagger and led Huang Guiyun and the limping Wang Erdan up the mountain.

In the middle of the night, the mountain was silent and dark. The wind blew in gusts, and the branches swayed in the wind, making an eerie sound, as if a wild ghost was trying to take someone's life.

Huang Guiyun and Wang Erdan were so frightened that their teeth started to chatter.

When they reached the top of the mountain, they stood at the high wind outlet. A gust of icy wind blew over them. Huang Guiyun and Wang Erdan couldn't help but shiver and curled up into a ball, as if this could resist the cold invasion.

Huang Guiyun and Wang Erdan shivered as they prepared to sit down, at least to keep warm.

Du Lei snorted coldly and said, "Stand still and face north." His voice was cold and stern, and did not allow for any disobedience.

Huang Guiyun and Wang Erdan were extremely reluctant when they heard this, but they did not dare to disobey. They could only do as they were told, standing straight, facing north, and shivering in the cold wind.

An hour later, Huang Guiyun couldn't stand it anymore. Her lips turned purple and she trembled as she begged for mercy: "Look, it's been so long. We're almost frozen stiff. Can you please let us go?"

Du Lei had a blank expression on his face and said coldly, "You guys should think about it carefully. Maybe when you figure it out, you'll have something to say to me. Before you figure it out, don't expect to be able to leave."

Wang Erdan cried, "We were wrong. We really won't dare to do it again next time. Forget it this time. Please let us go!"

Du Lei frowned and said angrily, "I don't think you realize your mistakes at all. I think you still haven't figured it out. Keep thinking about it."

The two of them walked quietly to the north of the village, being very careful along the way, for fear of being discovered. When they arrived at the house, Wang Erdan leaned over the window and looked inside, then whispered, "It seems that there is no one there."

Huang Guiyun said, "Then hurry in."

The two men gently opened the door and tiptoed into the house. Just as they were looking for food, they suddenly heard footsteps outside.

Huang Guiyun was so frightened that her face turned pale, and Wang Erdan was also panicked. The two of them hurriedly looked for a place to hide.

Huang Guiyun just turned around and suddenly saw a figure, which startled her. The figure was so scared that he screamed when he saw Huang Guiyun.

Huang Guiyun recognized Wang Erdan's voice and said, "What are you shouting about? It's me."

Wang Erdan finally calmed down and said, "I'm afraid of people, not ghosts."

Huang Guiyun rolled his eyes at him and said, "Look at your lack of ability. You'll never become a great bandit."

Wang Erdan said, "I'm fine with being a thief. I don't care about anything too big."

Wang Erdan saw that there was nothing in the shed, so he cursed: "These people are really wicked! At least leave us something! We have nothing now. Didn't we come all the way here for nothing?"
