Void Jigsaw Puzzle
Chapter 149 Visitors from the Hydrogen Clan
While Kunlun City's terrain is undulating, resembling a series of peaks, it's not entirely irregular. From above, the city is divided into four equally sized districts by three parallel rivers. These rivers bear simple names: Black, White, and Gray, reflecting this distinct character in the names of the four districts they separate: A, B, C, and D. Unlike the incredibly distant Nameless City, the Black, White, and Gray rivers are each traversed by bridges. However, these bridges lack vehicles; transportation is entirely on foot. These bridges, spanning the rivers and weaving through the undulating terrain, are the vital arteries of Kunlun City.
The undulating terrain, which makes one scratch their head and feel backache, does, upon closer inspection, reveal a distribution pattern. Overall, it forms a sinusoidal wave pattern in all directions, with alternating peaks and troughs. Thus, there are no exceptionally high peaks, nor unfathomable valleys. Even so, for anyone in Kunlun City, traveling far away remains a significant challenge.
At the junction of Districts B and C in Kunlun City, directly above the Baihe River, besides the Baihe Bridge spanning both banks, stood a silver, metallic platform. At first glance, the platform appeared empty, but a closer look revealed a faint blue glow on the floor.
Normally, these light blue lights are evenly distributed, but when people enter or leave Kunlun City, they will form a ring depending on the number of people entering or leaving. The more people there are, the larger the diameter of the ring. If the ring expands to cover the entire platform area, it means a large number of people are entering or leaving.
People in Kunlun City call this platform the "Silver Gate". Although it is located in Kunlun City, its service targets mainly people coming in and out from outside, such as the owners of Xumi Star where Kunlun City is located - the Helium Clan, and their distant relatives - the Hydrogen Clan.
Neither the Helium Clan nor the Hydrogen Clan possessed a physical form. However, when facing the people of Kunlun City, in order to accommodate their obsession with physical form, they would appear as the other party's imagined form to facilitate communication. However, the Helium Clan was not as diligent as the Hydrogen Clan and did not always cooperate, so from time to time they would startle the people of Kunlun City.
Compared to his tribe, Hei Qian was much more diligent. At least, whenever he came to Kunlun City, he would show up in person. Sometimes, his friends in Kunlun City would compliment him by saying, "You don't look like a Hei Qian at all."
He Qian didn't find this statement particularly appealing. For him, presenting himself in a way that appealed to the people of Kunlun City wasn't something worth dwelling on. He frequently dealt with Kunlun City, doing business there, so he had to do it. There was no need to argue.
The pale blue light from the floor of the Silver Gate silently dispersed, forming a ring approximately two meters in diameter. Two people flashed within the ring.
One of them was a middle-aged man with a kind face and a strong build. It was He Qian. He came to Kunlun City again.
Standing next to him was a thin and tall man who was almost a head taller than him. His eyes were full of shrewdness. He came from the distant Taibai Star. His name was Hydron Sa. He was a member of the Hydron Clan and belonged to Hydron Ao's team. He was specifically responsible for the communication between the Hydron Clan and the Helium Clan.
The two of them appeared on the roaring White River and looked around. There was no one from Kunlun City. They smiled at each other and said, "I have to take off my pants and fart again..."
In the eyes of the two, it is obvious that communication with each other can be completed without relying on "talking", but every time they come to Kunlun City, they have to embody and then use "talking" to convey information, because the people in Kunlun City can only accept this method.
Even those who were already very familiar with them, such as the man named Sanjay who was now climbing up the riverbank of the Baihe River near Area B, panting, to meet them.
Sanjay was a middle-aged, slightly overweight man with a swarthy complexion. His hair, while still quite thick for his age, was naturally curly, amplifying the effect. He had just reached the last step, having barely paused, and had exhausted almost all his strength. He could only brace his knees with his hands, hunched over, panting heavily, unable to straighten himself. However, he kept glancing sideways toward the Silver Gate to check if his guests had arrived on time. Only when he saw the tall, thin, and portly combination of Hei Qian and Hydronsa did he feel relieved.
He waved at the two men with difficulty: "Leaders, I'm sorry, I can't move right now. Please allow me a few minutes."
Helium Submersible and Hydrogen Sa simply walked lightly up to him, looked down at him, and said condescendingly, "Your physical strength is so poor that I really doubt whether it is a wise choice for us to cooperate with you."
Sanjay's eyes immediately flashed with panic when he heard this. He used both hands to support his thighs, trying to stand straighter, and defended himself, "Our cooperation is not just with me alone. I can help you find a very useful partner who will definitely meet your requirements."
Hydrogen Sa smiled gloatingly: "But your behavior makes it difficult for us to trust you. At least I can't fully entrust you with my extremely important task..."
As he spoke, he looked at He Qian beside him and asked, "What do you think? You are the master here, and I trust your judgment."
He Qian waved his hand. "No, I'm not the master of Kunlun City. They don't have a master here, and everyone is free. I'm just a native of Xumi Star. However, I agree with you. The tasks we want to entrust to him require a strong physique to undertake, at least at the beginning."
Sanjay's face turned red with anxiety, and he wanted to do a few somersaults on the spot to prove that he could still fight. However, he was unable to do so, as the amount of exercise he had just done had temporarily drained his body.
He rolled his eyes and suggested, "Two leaders, when we first discussed this partnership, my original intention wasn't for me to do it myself. I meant I could find a lot of people to do it, and at a very low price. How about this... I'll immediately notify a few people to come over and start testing you on the spot. You can see the results firsthand. This way is much simpler and more direct than discussing it here a thousand times. What do you think?"
Helium Qian and Hydrogen Sa looked at each other and nodded slightly: "Okay, you call someone."
After hearing these few words, Sanjay took out his phone and made a call as if he had received an imperial decree.
"Hey... Yes! Yes! Come to the White River immediately. You know the Silver Gate, right? It's right here. It's definitely a great job opportunity, with far better pay than your current so-called job. Don't you want to save money for your children's schooling and tutoring? Come on! Now!"
He called a woman first.
