Demonic Dao Fanfiction: Protecting You from Worries for a Lifetime

Chapter 151 Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan's Atonement 1

Lan Wangji's glazed eyes were filled with rage and a hint of hurt. He didn't know what he was upset about, but it just felt bad. He ignored Lian Yazheng and immediately returned to his quiet room, the door slamming shut with a deafening bang.

The disciple looked at the Second Young Master's face, his heart filled with confusion and worry. He didn't understand what was in the letter that made the Second Young Master so angry? He even ignored Ya Zheng.

Despite his inner unease and anxiety, Lan Xichen did his best to maintain a smile, attempting to mask his true emotions. He whispered to his disciple, "Go!" The disciple bowed respectfully and turned to leave. However, as the disciple disappeared from sight, the smile on Lan Xichen's face vanished, replaced by a gloomy haze.

Lan Xichen walked dazedly along the road to his residence, passing many disciples along the way, each of them bowing and greeting him. However, Lan Xichen seemed not to hear them, only mechanically responding, his face still blank. He didn't know how he walked back to the Xuanshi Hall, only that his feet felt like cotton, as if he were in a dream. His emotions were indescribable. Xuanyuan Yue (Wei Ying) had left a letter for Wangji, so why didn't you leave a single word for me? Not even a word of rebuke, but why was there only silence!!!

Lan Xichen sat quietly on the steps of the cold room for a moment, then entered the side chamber. Everything inside remained unchanged, the bedding neatly folded. On the low table by the window lay the man's unfinished books, ornaments he'd been playing with, leftover tea, and a hair ornament he'd removed. It was as if the man had never left. Lan Xichen gently caressed these objects, then picked up a hairpin, gripped it tightly in his palm, and whispered, "You'll always be mine." At that moment, Lan Xichen's paranoia and possessiveness reached a peak.

Lan Xichen slammed the side room door shut and returned to his bedroom. The bedroom remained exactly as he had left it at noon, as if time had stood still. The sheets he had changed at noon were still piled unmade in the corner, while the clothes he had hastily gathered that morning hung from the beams. Though tangled together, the blue, white, and green garments seemed never to truly blend.

"Ah-choo! Ah-choo!" Chaoyang sneezed twice in a row. Wei Weiying, who was sitting on the shuttle with him, asked in surprise, "Uncle! What's wrong with you? Did you catch a cold?"

"No, I just suddenly felt uncomfortable in my nose." Chaoyang rubbed his nose.

Wei Ying stared at the rising sun suspiciously, his heart filled with confusion. He suddenly realized that his uncle wasn't wearing a mask. So, he began to carefully recall, trying to figure out what had happened. After some thought, he finally remembered that his uncle hadn't worn a mask since they left the Lan family's territory.

"Uncle, where is your mask?" Wei Ying couldn't help but ask.

"I picked it." Chaoyang answered concisely.

Wei Ying didn't dwell on Chaoyang's response, knowing Chaoyang disliked wearing masks and only reluctantly put them on when facing strangers. However, when Wei Ying learned that Lan Xichen had taken off his uncle's mask, he was furious. He joined forces with Meng Yao and the other three to give Lan Xichen a severe beating.

"In that case, I'll take off this damn mask! Uncle, when can I completely get rid of this mask!" Wei Ying sighed helplessly as he took off the mask.

"You don't wear this mask all the time. Don't you usually turn it into a bracelet and wear it on your right hand? Isn't the mask on your face now also an illusion? Do you still feel uncomfortable?" Uncle asked in confusion, trying to comfort Wei Ying.

"That's not the case." Wei Ying replied.

"After a while, you won't have to wear it anymore." Chaoyang said this, no longer willing to follow the established plot. He decided to show his hand, to overturn the table, to break the shackles that bound them and let the truth come to light.

"Uncle, shall we go back directly?" Wei Ying asked.

"Ok!"

After Chaoyang finished his words, he ignored Wei Ying and closed his eyes, preparing for a nap. After all, he had barely rested the previous night and was incredibly sleepy. Meanwhile, Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan, dangling from the shuttle's tail, were equally unhappy. They had suffered greatly at the hands of Wang Lingjiao. They had initially thought someone had broken into the prison to rescue them, but who knew the two men had simply tied them up and hung them in mid-air? The night temperature was freezing, and their elixirs had melted, their cultivation power was lost. They were frozen to death, yet they dared not utter a single sound, fearing they would be thrown from the shuttle and shattered to pieces.

As to why Jiang Cheng wasn't taken away, Wei Ying said, "As long as someone is watching over him, he won't die."

Wei Ying and Chao Yang led the two men to the tombstones of Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren. At that moment, Jiang Fengmian finally understood who had rescued them from danger. He stared at Wei Ying with excitement. Although his mouth was stuffed with cloth, he still tried to make a whimpering sound, as if he was eager to express something.

Wei Ying calmly removed the cloth from his and Yu Ziyuan's mouths. Jiang Fengmian couldn't wait to blurt out, "Are you Ah Ying? Changze's son? I'm your Uncle Jiang!"

Wei Ying, however, remained expressionless as he watched Jiang Fengmian's excitement indifferently.

Yu Ziyuan, who was standing by, witnessed Jiang Fengmian's excitement and couldn't help but sarcastically say, "Jiang Fengmian, why are you so excited? Can't you see that they don't want to pay attention to you? You're here reminiscing about other people's children, but you don't care about your own children. How are Acheng and Ali now?"

Jiang Fengmian then realized his loss of composure. He shut his mouth and turned his gaze to the silent Wei Ying. A wave of panic involuntarily surged in his heart.

Yu Ziyuan continued to complain. She had lost her golden core, and all her hopes for the future rested on Jiang Cheng. Unbeknownst to her, Jiang Cheng's harsh words had also destroyed his golden core after his arrest. The only one who remained unharmed was Jiang Yanli, who had been sent to seek refuge in a rented house due to a dispute between her parents and the Second Madam.

Jiang Fengmian was annoyed by Yu Ziyuan's constant noise. Finally, he could no longer bear it. He suddenly raised his voice and shouted, "Shut up!"

Yu Ziyuan was stunned by his sudden roar. She was about to explode and wanted to refute him emotionally, but when she saw Jiang Fengmian's almost murderous sharp eyes, she silently closed her mouth.
