Witch Special
Chapter 82 It bloomed its last light.
Wildhammer's display of combat prowess astonished Lin Zhenxi, completely exceeding her initial expectations. Even if Lin Zhenxi were to fight in person, in her current state, without activating the other witch templates she'd copied, she wouldn't be able to match Wildhammer's current strength. There was no way Lin Zhenxi would have wielded a forty-meter-long, flaming sword like Wildhammer, slashing at the giant monster's face.
This is simply too powerful. Even mixing morphine and adrenaline together doesn't have this effect.
This was definitely the result of activating the power of the Four Saints, not just one, but two. Of the Four Saints' powers, the White Tiger was of metal and the Vermillion Bird was of fire, and the combination of the two formed the dozens of meters long blade condensed with flames.
The magic patterns of the Four Sacred Beasts on Wild Hammer were so effective that Lin Zhenxi couldn't help but wonder if she'd underestimated her own abilities. Why did it feel like Wild Hammer could single-handedly wipe out the Monster Association? He was incredibly skilled.
Just activating two sacred beast patterns could achieve this effect, but what if all four were activated at once? Lin Zhenxi couldn't even imagine what the scene would be like, but she imagined it would be shocking.
Forget it, forget it, I won't waste time. Lin Zhenxi is right above the Monster Association now. If something explodes below, she will be the first to bear the brunt.
Even as Lin Zhenxi's thoughts raced overhead, the battle between Wildhammer and the giant monster escalated to a new stage below. The giant monster's stone mask, with its three holes, was shattered by Wildhammer's forty-meter-long flaming sword, revealing a monstrous face beneath, wrinkled and pink, seemingly undeveloped. If Wildhammer were a playable character in the game, and the giant monster were a boss to be conquered, then the face, now unmasked, would be the weak spot circled in the strategy guide. A single effective strike there would inflict effective, even fatal, damage on the monster.
However, after losing the mask, the giant monster's attack instantly rose to a very terrifying level, as if it was violent because of anger. Countless strange snakes extended from the giant's body and turned into long whips, lashing the Hammer mercilessly like a storm.
The Wildhammer, blessed with the power of the Black Tortoise, possessed an equally astonishing defense. The snakes' sharp teeth struck the Wildhammer like chiseling into solid granite, shattering it without even leaving a single mark on him.
But it wasn't completely ineffective. The constant attacks forced the Wildhammer to constantly activate his Basalt Mark. In this state, the Wildhammer couldn't even jump or run, only half-crouching on the ground and slowly moving. Even an old lady on crutches could walk faster than him. Although the Wildhammer was now incredibly strong, it had almost lost its offensive capabilities. When it finally managed to get close to the giant, he'd be pushed back with a single blow, and the cycle would repeat itself.
To be honest, it's quite boring.
The situation now seemed stuck in an awkward cycle—Wildhammer was still too small compared to the giant. A simple push from the giant's hand could send him flying, even if his feet plowed furrows into the ground. However, the giant with the face of a still-born baby also had its weaknesses: its attacks weren't powerful enough to break through Wildhammer's basalt tortoise shell. While its serpentine whip crackled against Wildhammer's body like firecrackers, it wasn't even as effective as scraping. While scraping at least removed some wrinkles, those whips couldn't even leave a single white mark on Wildhammer's skin.
The situation was that the giant monster couldn't break through Wildhammer's basalt-protected defense, and Wildhammer couldn't get close to the giant monster. It was like a tug-of-war between the two sides, though they were struggling back and forth, neither side actually strayed much from their initial position.
Now the two sides were competing in a test of endurance, to see whether Wildhammer's tortoise shell could hold out longer, or the giant monster could keep whipping him longer. But Lin Zhenxi was not satisfied with the current result. She didn't want a stalemate between the two sides, but to break the deadlock quickly, whether it was a case of exchanging injuries or mutual destruction, to make full use of her remaining energy.
When Lin Zhenxi upgraded Wildhammer, she implanted his original soul into his magic core. During battle, that soul directly controlled Wildhammer's body. In previous battles, the soul's performance, now stripped of useless emotions and left with only pure fighting consciousness, pleased Lin Zhenxi, so she refrained from using her superior authority to interfere with Wildhammer's battles. But now, perhaps realizing it couldn't defeat the giant monster, the soul opted for an overly cautious battle strategy, turning what should have been a quick battle into a time-consuming, tedious affair. This deeply displeased Lin Zhenxi. If she didn't end it soon, the refreshments on her table would be gone.
So Lin Zhenxi directly used his higher authority to order the soul to give up defense, not to worry about whether he would be injured, and to attack the big-eyed guy with all his strength.
That’s right, the target that Lin Zhenxi ordered the Wild Hammer to attack was the big-eyed pink monster that was hiding on the edge of the battle and watching quietly.
Lin Zhenxi had already seen the Wild Hammer's limits; it was clearly no match for the giant monster. That 40-meter-long flaming sword was supposed to be its most powerful attack, but it only managed to shatter the giant monster's mask. Any actual wounds it inflicted on the giant monster healed instantly, leaving it ineffective at dealing any damage. The damage it inflicted was even faster than the monster's recovery. The Wild Hammer's defenses were only hindered by its Black Tortoise Marking. If it lost its Black Tortoise Marking, it would likely be quickly defeated by the giant monster.
Therefore, Lin Zhenxi no longer expected Wildhammer to defeat the giant monster. Instead, he settled for the next best thing: to kill the big-eyed monster that could use super powers before he was defeated. Compared to those visible and tangible attacks, the attacks of superpowered people were often invisible, and posed a greater threat to Lin Zhenxi himself.
Of course, it doesn’t matter if he can’t be killed, because the Wild Hammer’s mission has actually been completed anyway.
While the initial goal was reconnaissance, thanks to the outstanding performance of Wild Hammer and Blood Rat, Hayashi Maki's further goal of reducing the number of monsters in the Monster Association was nearly accomplished. While the remaining monsters were all elite members of the Monster Association, without their numerical advantage, Saitama would absolutely destroy them one by one, one punch at a time. Once the cables were in place, Hayashi Maki would bring Saitama over to serve as her bodyguard. This way, even if the remaining monsters came to cause trouble, they would be beaten into small pieces by Saitama, preventing her from interrupting the construction of the signal amplification tower.
After Lin Zhenxi's command was accurately conveyed, the still-struggling Wild Hammer shuddered, his half-crouched form suddenly straightening. The tortoise-like scales on his body transformed into a torrent of hidden weapons, hurling them towards the giant monster's ugly face like a torrent of lightning. That was the giant monster's weak spot, and to defend against the already powerful tortoise-like scales, it had to hold its entire snake across its face, forcing it to pause its attack on Wild Hammer for a moment.
In that brief moment, Wildhammer, engulfed in blazing flames, his feet igniting a series of explosions, struck Big Eyes like a cannonball, the unresponsive creature slamming into him. The raging Vermillion Bird fire streamed down Wildhammer's fist and poured directly into Big Eyes' chubby, round body. The eyeball on Big Eyes' head instantly became severely bloodshot, and a column of fire burst the eyeball, sending it spewing from its socket.
The already bloated body of the Big Eye Monster expanded rapidly like a balloon, and it was screaming and constantly using its superpowers to suppress the power of Suzaku that Wild Hammer poured into its body. Unfortunately, due to the lack of professional skills, it had little effect.
"Asshole, let's die together!" Perhaps realizing his own death was inevitable, Big Eyes suddenly grasped Wild Hammer's arm tightly. A terrifying attraction surged through his body. A black hole opened up in Big Eyes' body, absorbing all surrounding matter. Wild Hammer's hand had already been inserted into Big Eyes' body, and the black hole had been created directly there, so Wild Hammer's hand and a small section of his arm were thrust directly into the black hole.
The powerful suction pulled all surrounding matter toward the black hole, even affecting the massive monster, forcing it to release its serpents and cling to any solid objects to stabilize itself. The Wildhammer, unable to escape the black hole's pull, simply went the other way, transforming all its energy into a highly active flame through the Suzaku magic pattern, then pouring it into the black hole.
After all, this black hole was merely the product of Big Eyes's superpowers going haywire, not a true black hole. While it's unknown if there's a limit to a black hole's absorption capacity, after devouring nearly all of Wildhammer's energy, the black hole finally turned from black to white, like a water balloon that's been filled to the brim and can no longer hold any more.
The next second, the black hole vomited out everything it had swallowed. Within the black hole, the terrifying heat had already melted all the matter it had absorbed, leaving only the violent fire energy that was constantly compressed. As the black hole's properties flipped, the previously bound and tightly confined energy instantly broke free, transforming into a massive bomb that blasted right at the giant monster's rear end, exploding over a thousand meters underground.
Lin Zhenxi's teacup was even knocked over.
