Chapter 80: The Monster Association starts giving away heads
Although the blood rats had unleashed a bloodbath within the underground base, they'd likely only killed the weaklings of the Monster Association. As for the true elite, these still-evolving scumbags probably couldn't possibly take them down. However, even the strong had their dignity, and attacking these clearly unremarkable rats probably only made them feel a sense of grime.
Compared to the dirty, smelly and filthy blood rats, the Wild Hammer, which looks very tough at first glance, is indeed worthy of being their opponent.
Thus, the first real opponent of the Wildhammer appeared before it.
An extremely tall hedgehog-headed monster with four vertical pupils on his head and X-shaped scars all over his body, lowered his head slightly and squeezed into the corridor which was a bit low for him, blocking the way for the Wild Hammer.
"Tell me your name. I, a hero, will not kill nameless people."
Unfortunately, the Wild Hammer is now just a skin that still resembles a human. The internal fillings have long since turned into muscle tissue that seems to have self-awareness and can move on its own. There are no organs including the brain. It can neither think nor speak. The only purpose of its actions is to complete the commands transmitted by Lin Zhenxi to its magic core.
Lin Zhenxi's mission was to explore the underground base and kill all the weirdos they encountered. Therefore, facing Haojie's questioning, Manhammer's expression did not change at all. Instead, he took a big step forward, raised his fist, and smashed it towards Haojie's waist.
Although Wildhammer is now a little giant, he still looks very small compared to the hero who is almost three stories tall.
Hero was tall, but with long arms and legs, and his reaction speed was equally fast. When Wild Hammer threw a punch, Hero also swung his fist, which was obviously several times larger than Wild Hammer's, and smashed it towards Wild Hammer's chest.
Anyway, the hero's arms are longer than the wild hammer's, so its fist will definitely hit earlier than the wild hammer.
Facing the hero's iron fist, Man Hammer did not dodge or evade. Instead, the white tiger magic pattern on his arm glowed slightly, and his skin immediately reflected a metallic luster.
Hero's fist landed on Wildhammer's chest with a muffled thud, like a sledgehammer hitting a wall, before being deflected. Wildhammer merely staggered slightly, his forward speed undiminished. Hero's body was confined by the corridor's length, unable to dodge flexibly, so Wildhammer's fist, larger than a watermelon, landed firmly near Hero's waist.
Though clearly clad in metallic skin, the moment his fist landed, a dazzling burst of fire erupted. The explosive energy erupted instantly, yet was confined to the front of the Wildhammer, forming a jet of flame that shot forward.
By the time the flames dissipated, nearly half of Hao Jie's body had vanished. From his waistline, including his thighs and abdomen, everything was reduced to ash by the raging flames. Hao Jie's upper body, having lost its support, fell, crushing his two lower legs that were still sticking to the ground.
Seeing Wildhammer so easily dispatch that apparently formidable monster, Lin Zhenxi began to feel a little uncertain about Wildhammer's current strength. The explosion caused by Wildhammer's fist just now seemed to be more than just ordinary fire; otherwise, it wouldn't have been so overbearing, blasting Hero directly.
Could it be Suzaku's True Flame? Could this magic pattern really borrow the power of the Four Sacred Beasts? Lin Zhenxi had always thought that magic patterns were at most a functional enchantment, just as electrical appliances rely on the power of their own electrical cords to operate, their power ultimately relied on the individual's own magic. However, Wild Hammer's punch was at most a normal attack, barely drawing on the magic power within his magic core, yet its destructive power was extraordinary. This clearly involved a higher level of energy than the ordinary magic power within the magic core.
Tsk, that's the downside of Taoist powers: they're so mysterious, it's hard to pinpoint what's actually there, and they're constantly tied into even more mysterious things. Magic doesn't have that kind of trouble; everything is self-constructed, crystal clear. Unless you're actively seeking death and communicating with those ineffable, mysterious masters of the void, your power is what it's supposed to be, with absolutely no surprises (scary).
After punching through Hero's body with a single blow, Wildhammer stepped over him and continued forward. Behind him, a horde of blood rats, smelling the blood, ran over. Upon seeing Hero's corpse, they pounced upon it like a treasure, devouring Hero's remains in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, Wildhammer encountered a new, powerful monster. After exchanging glances, without further ado, the battle erupted once again.
Wildhammer's strength gradually became apparent. This guy had indeed mastered a more advanced form of energy movement through the magic patterns of the Four Sages. Lin Zhenxi didn't know if this was a manifestation of the power of the Four Sages, but regardless, every punch and kick from Wildhammer now carried the terrifying power of the Five Elements, with astonishing lethality. Those seemingly imposing strangers were no match for Wildhammer's mere punches and kicks.
Lin Zhenxi felt that the monsters killed instantly by the Wild Hammer were not only Demon-level, but also Dragon-level. This was simply outrageous.
The perfect combination of technology and magic created a monster beyond imagination.
During the battle, Wildhammer encountered some challenges. For example, a pair of ninja-dressed eccentrics relied on their immense speed to keep Wildhammer from even reaching the hem of their clothing. While Wildhammer's punches were deadly, they were meaningless if they couldn't hit. Just as Wildhammer was facing a difficult battle, the Blood Rats arrived to reinforce him. The massive Blood Rats army squeezed the ninja duo's maneuvering space to the point of leaving them with no room to maneuver. As the Blood Rats bit the struggling ninjas one by one, Wildhammer finally had the opportunity to crush the two ninjas' heads.
The blood rats are no longer weak creatures that can be crushed to death by a Wild Hammer. Devouring the corpses of monsters is also prompting the continuous evolution of the Kinos Factor. Now the Wild Hammer can only kick the blood rats away with one kick, and there is no need to worry about a large pool of blood spurting out under his feet when he steps on them.
The Wild Hammers and the Blood Rats share a common origin, their bodies composed entirely of Kinos Factor. Having tasted the sweetness of monster flesh, the Blood Rats have lost interest in their own kind, now only seeking to devour more monsters. Under Lin Zhenxi's control, the Wild Hammers, of course, have no interest in the Blood Rats either, so the two groups hit it off and decided to act together.
Unconsciously, Lin Zhenxi's purpose seemed to have changed with the unexpected strength of Wildhammer. If Wildhammer was so strong, why bother gathering intelligence? Wouldn't it be better to just wipe out all the monsters down there?
After the Blood Rats and Wild Hammers formed a team together, they encountered some weirdos again. However, with the joint efforts of the two, those weirdos whose strength gradually became outrageous fell into their hands one after another and were eaten by the Blood Rats.
A middle-aged man with long hair and a beard, wearing a crown and a cape, capable of firing various balls of light and energy beams; a giant six-eyed black dog capable of firing beam cannons and flame bombs from its mouth; a super-fat white man with no facial features but a mouth; and a fat man so ugly that the mere sight of him could cause physical discomfort. These freaks fell one after another, and under their attacks, the Wildhammers and Blood Rats evolved resistance to specific attacks, transforming from simple hexagonal warriors into even more powerful ones.
Of course, their conquest of the Monster Association wasn't without its setbacks. A cat-like creature presented Wildhammer and the Blood Rat with immense trouble. Its speed was so fast it was invisible to the naked eye, and it was incredibly agile, able to weave through a swarm of Blood Rat without the Rat even being able to touch its tail. It could even stay close to Wildhammer throughout the fight, scratching his back with dozens, even hundreds, of bloody marks.
Unfortunately, during the battle, the Wildhammer and the Blood Rats had long since awakened their resistance to sharp weapons. The cat, which was only fast-moving and relied primarily on its claws to scratch its enemies, was ineffective against the Wildhammer. Although the Wildhammer and the Blood Rats couldn't catch the cat, the damage it inflicted on them was still quite unsatisfactory. So, after a while, the cat lost its patience and suddenly turned and fled into the darkness, disappearing without a trace.
Before it left, it wanted to catch a blood rat, but the weight of the blood rat slowed down its speed, and it was almost surrounded by other blood rats. It was so scared that it quickly let go of the blood rat and ran away.
After overcoming the cat monster's obstruction, Wildhammer encountered a strange creature shaped like flowing water, and unexpectedly fell into a difficult battle. To Lin Zhenxi, this creature looked like a diluted slime, with two eyeballs floating in water, and no nerves or brain visible. This was similar to the current Wildhammer, so Lin Zhenxi concluded that it must also have a core in its body. Destroying this core would eliminate it.
This mass of water fights in a very watery way, unleashing high-pressure water cannons by compressing its body, or suffocating its enemies by wrapping itself around them. Within it live dozens of small fish, common in hot springs, that feast on the skin of human feet. However, the sharp teeth that appear between their mouths clearly distinguish them from their similar-looking relatives.
Water couldn't be cut or bitten, leaving the blood rats helpless against this mass of self-aware water. Conversely, the water monsters were also helpless against the blood rats, as they no longer needed to breathe and were nearly immune to all forms of damage. After trying various attack methods, including wrapping, high-pressure water cannons, and water cutting, the water monsters were embarrassed to find that they couldn't even deal with those seemingly mere soldiers.
The Water Monster didn't want to get close to Wildhammer, as he was burning with dangerous golden-red flames. He sensed a natural enemy in him. So, realizing he couldn't even defeat the Blood Rats, the Water Monster chose to separate the Blood Rats from the Wildhammer. He transformed into a wave and swept away all the Blood Rats that couldn't defeat him, separating the Wildhammer from the Blood Rats.
Wildhammer once again resumed his solo progress, while the blood rats were thrown into the underground river by the water monster, gradually leaving Lin Zhenxi's perception range. However, the water monster was unwilling to continue to fight against the flaming Wildhammer, so he also disappeared.
